Travelodge Hotel at LAX Airport

2.5 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

Staff at reception is not friendly. Hotel territory looks real good, lots of different flowers and trees. As for the rest: usual low-mid level hotel.

Like a step back in time this 1950's two story motel is close to the airport. The grounds are beautiful and the building is very well kept. Along with being priced right it is all in all a great destination spot for an over night like I had or a longer stay spot. You won't regret it.

It was dingy, dark and very difficult to even find our room. The room was OK but I would never recommend it to anyone.

All essentials provided for; convenient location to Airport; most helpful staff; comfortable bed

Plants, flowers, and bushes. Oh my! Great landscaping.

Since this hotel cost only a little less than a much better one next door, we expected more. Facility is badly in need of updating although rooms were reasonably clean. We arrived late at night and were sent to park around back in a deserted alley and haul our bags upstairs once we made it inside the iron security gates. The photos are a little deceiving -- yes there are gardens but this is mostly concrete and asphalt, folks. Also it was noisy. If you need to crash for a night near the airport it's acceptable but I wouldn't recommend a long stay.

Was only overnight stay, near LAX and to return rental car. No issues with Travellodge or amenities.

Although this facility is dated and shows it's age, I can't say enough about the courteous staff, the beautiful landscaping and the overall nice appeal. My wife and I were SO impressed by the, for the lack of a better term, arboretum that seconds as a hotel. The Travelodge employees several full-time gardeners to maintain the thousands of beautifully maintained flowers, trees, and shrubs that fill every nook and cranny of this place. Many of the larger trees and unusual plants have names on placards as well. This place a is a little taste of paradise in an otherwise concrete jungle next to the airport!

Catch the shuttle in front of LAX and it is a short ride to the vintage Travelodge. This motel was built in the 1960's, a classic example of California style from the period. The buildings surround a pool and mature gardens with a wide variety of plantings with something always in bloom-- an unexpected, relaxing treat for the location. Check-in and out are quick and the staff is pleasant and professional. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. In front of the hotel is a Denney's restaurant, with bar, convenient if you've taken the shuttle and don't have access to a car.

Staff at front desk, house keeping, ground keeper, security, etc. Very friendly and helpful.

Front desk staff not too helpful and friendly. Room during the day was noisy with renovation going on close to our room. guests sitting around the pool area noisy around 9:30 at night.

Beautiful landscaping and lush greenery shield this mid-century enclave from its stark industrial/urban location. Our room was nothing to write home about, but it was clean, well-maintained and reasonably comfortable. We were looking for easy access to LAX and the airport shuttle service. We did not pay for luxury and this is not a luxury hotel. Had breakfast at Denny's which adjoins the hotel property. Starting our travel day with the added convenience of a decent breakfast meal was a plus. (We passed up the hotel breakfast that was included with room.)

The housekeeping staff were very noisey in the early morning and into the late afternoon. Plus the cleanliness wasn't up to par.

Staff excellent in every point: Reception, transportation, and restaurant. Comfortable, clean, big room and privacy. Very nice experience. Only 3 things to improve: Quality of food at breakfast: less junk food and more healthy alternatives, difficulty to close curtains, and too long waiting at the airport for the shuttle.

Because of difficulties in arranging flight schedules in a satisfactory way, an overnight stay in LA was seen to be a means of resolving the difficulty. We were looking for accommodation that offered shuttle service close to the airport that was as inexpensive as possible as well as offering comfortable lodging. The shuttle service was top priority and it provided the service needed.

24/7 Hotel to LAX Airport Shuttle - Free. 24/7 Denny's restaurant next door. Can rent room from 9 AM - 8 PM if needed as well as overnight. Room was comfortable and well appointed. Pool appeared nice. Property well maintained and very clean. Beds comfortable.

We stayed for one night and loved the room and the beautiful patio. The gardens and trees were so beautiful. We wish we could have stayed longer. I would highly recommend this hotel for it's beauty and price.

Loved the back in time feel. Grounds and room were extremely clean and well kept. Very close to LAX. Pets were welcome. Made us feel safe and comfortable. Would def stay again.

We left the second we saw the awful, outdated almost creepy looking room. Stayed for less at the Sheraton. Yikes

We stayed at this hotel the night before we flew out of LAX. It was clean, and the staff was nice, especially the shuttle driver. The free breakfast was a little disappointing, but we'd stay here again.

Thank you very much for your stay with us and for taking the time to review our hotel. The older 1950’s theme is not for everyone and some guest may feel that our hotel is outdated. This is not the case as our hotel and grounds are constantly being renovated and maintained. We offer 24 hour free shuttle service to/from LAX and to the local rental car agencies. We appreciate your positive comments regarding your lodging experience. We hope that when traveling through LAX area again that you will choose to stay with us.

Thank you very much for your stay with us and for taking the time to review our hotel. Our owners have worked hard to preserve the 1950's architecture that makes up our hotel. With our gardens landscape theme you have a very unique retro style hotel. The lay out of the hotel can be confusing but we do have bell men who are more than willing to assist you in finding your room. Our property is available for guests who are looking for something different near the airport vs. the traditional high rise properties. With our hotel style and free amenities (24 hour airport shuttle, 24 hour business center, Free Wifi & Much more) our property is one of the best values near LAX.

I do have to take issue with this review...yes, as one would expect, there is concrete and asphalt on the streets and sidewalks. However, the hotel is gated and inside the grounds there is a vast array of flowers and fauna. There are 19 water features. Apparently, you did not have the opportunity to stroll through the grounds as other guests have who in their reviews spoke so highly of our gardens. The "deserted" off alley parking is, yes, "deserted" in that there are no homes, commercial building, etc...there is open grounds. We are a two story hotel and 95% of all two story structures do not have an elevator. We do have staff who are available to assist our guests with their luggage. "Updating" -- we are a fifties preserved motor/lodge...the architectural integrity of the structure has been maintained. If you are not comfortable in a setting other than one that is totally modern then we are not the best choice for you at any room rate. Guest rooms: 32-inch flat screen television, ergonomic desk chair, refrigerator, pillow top mattresses, upscale bath towels, hair dryer, magnifying mirror, duvets, lamps with outlets to charge electronic devices--the room footprint may be of the fifties design but ALL of the amenities in our guests rooms are "modern".

We appreciate you having chosen our Travelodge to provide for your lodging needs. We so value your kind words. The hotel owners have over the past 40 years been focused on preserving another lodging era for today's traveler which includes our gardens and water features. Today traveling can be stressful so our tropical oasis enables our guests to have a moment to rest in our tranquil setting. The architectural structure is of the fifties...and it too although with its "wrinkles" creates a unique setting in which our gardens can flourish. We thank you for the 5 star rating you gave the hotel.
