Having stayed in Burbank for the majority of our trip we decided to move closer to our departure airport LAX for the night before. We were checked in fairly quickly and headed to our room on the 12th floor. The wife is not a huge fan of elevators and knocking noises were kinda creepy. The room, very basic. The bed is almost on the floor. There was one little chair in the corner of the room, a desk chair, small desk, little coffee maker, and small bathroom. There were places where the paint was pealing and there was a strange blue LED light in the window that we quickly shut off. The one thing we liked about the room was the great views of LA and LAX in particular, since I'm an aviation geek. The breakfast the next morning was ok. Nothing really over the top, but it did fill out empty bellies. We had a problem with the bill but the front desk person quickly took care of it. The ride to LAX was quick once the shuttle arrived.
The customer service at the Reception was fine. I am a SOLO traveler and I was traveling since march. In USA most of the Hotels ask a deposit at the arrival. Everyday I changed hotel and if I need to hold a deposit on the credit card is just crazy because the bank hold the amount for days or months, on top of that, the credit card has limits as well, so make some payment will be a nightmare for who change everyday hotel. The Receptionist if they can take the payment of the room straight away and they didn't ask me ANY deposit. AWESOME. Finally. The Receptionist explained everything about the hotel, check in, check out, elevator, breakfast, bar, mini bar etc. They have a swimming pool, that I didn't try and a bar/restaurant. In the area there are few fast food and restaurants as well and a big supermarket and the bowling. The hotel is normal and quiet and the rooms are nice and ok. The rate was a little bit high for the quality of the hotel but people were nice and the room has all I need. Comapred to LA prices, was ok. I have always cold, so everytime I am looking for the heating and it worked. I suggest this hotel to solo travelers and people that want to be close to the beaches (Venice beach 5 minutes ride and Santa Monica 10') and airport, solo travelers and groups. they have a free shuttle from and to the airport. The important thing for a client is to be helped and understood, the furnite is a must!
Rooms feel like a dormitory. No curtains, cracked walls, stained carpet, WiFi not great, Direct TV went out several times. Furniture is worn and bed was so awful we had to switch rooms. This is not a 3 Star hotel. Won’t be back.
I've been to the Custom Hotel on 3 occasions in the last couple of months. The staff has made each stay great. Hotel amenities are consistently improving. The location is unbeatable for convenience to the airport, Venice Beach, Santa Monica, and great restaurants. The rooms are larger then normal and provide some nice views. Will not disappoint.
I just stayed at Custom this week and loved my stay! The location was perfect for me and I thought my room was spacious and neat as a pin clean. I had a few special requests ..even after normal business hours..and the staff always went out of the way to take care of me. I did not have an opportunity to check out the bar/restaurant...I will have to try on my next trip!
The hotel is great! I stayed there for one night and I arrived from LAX. They picked me up from the airport really quickly and it was pretty late at night. The staff were kind, they helped me get around and explained me about the local bus transportation. The bed was very comfortable and the room was well designed. The shower was a bit small but enjoyable. Overall i enjoyed my stay.
Just wanted to give a shoutout to Breann that works reception! After a dilemma at another hotel I walked in and she solved all my problems and showed great customer service! Thank you again and again Breann! We loved our stay here. Everyone is so lovely and kind.
This place is a dump! The pool Has a terrible Dj that blasts music from 1pm- 8pm! You cannot watch tv or nap. I was told it would end at 7pm, of course, that was a lie. Breann at the front desk told me I was the only one complaining. However, I read their yelp reviews, clearly I am not! About 5 people down there right now and still the music blasts, like we are in vegas! The service here is very poor! The room is dumpy and dirty. If you want to enjoy your stay .... don’t stay here!
For the last couple years, I have stayed only at the Custom Hotel everytime I go to LA on business. Almost all the other near-LAX hotels are located on a boring and very commercial street (W. Century Blvd) ...the location of the Custom is night and day different with many reasonably priced high quality restaurants with personality (and great tripAdvisor ratings) within a 5 minute walk ...a terrific variety of cuisines. The staff, from front desk to maintenance to housekeeping, has always been super friendly, and rooms clean. And the price is always right.
After Seeing Only Good Reviews From Different Web Sites About This Hotel, I Decided To Make A Reservation & Stay The Night. When I Landed @ The LAX Airport, I Called The Hotel Requesting A Ride From their Complementary Airport Shuttle. I Was Told The Airport Shuttle Would Be Right Over To Pick Me Up. I Waited 45 minutes. Upon Arriving I Checked Into This Hotel. The Hotel Staff Were friendly. However I Found The Online Pictures To Be Very Deceiving. The Hotel is Not Nearly As Nice As I'd Hoped It To Be, Based Off The photos I Saw Online Of This Hotel. It's An Older Hotel, With Dark Dingy Hallways. As I Walked To My Room All I Could Smell Was The Odor Of Marijuana. My Room Was Very Small & Dark. The Bed Was Basically A Wood Box With A Mattress. No Box Spring. The Bed Was Very Low To The Ground. In The Bathroom My Toliet Was Leaking Water All Over The Bathroom Floor. I Kept My Shoes On My Feet While In My Room & I Kept All My Bags Up Off The Floor. I Just Didn't Feel The Room Was Very Clean. Which Caused Me Not To Feel Comfortable In That Room During My Short Stay. So I Guess, The Bottom Line Is, I'm Used To Marriott Quality Hotels or Nicer Hotels. This Hotel Was Just Not Up My Hotel Standards. I Personally Would Never Stay At This Hotel Again. If Your Someone Who Stays In Hotels Often & Have Certain Hotel Stay Expectations, This Hotel Is Not For You Either. But if your Someone Who Just Wants To Find A Cheap Hotel Room Rate,Then This Hotel Is The Place For You.
