We really enjoyed our visit to this wonderful hotel. We received a warm welcome with great service. The room was quirky, light and airy. The bar was very well stocked and served excellent pear and vanilla martini. We also liked the music in the bar. Breakfast was delicious too. Overall, a fantastic experience. Recommend this hotel for a treat and a taste of old England.
Having been here before, we decided to use this hotel again as we were impressed with our last visit and close to the RAH, big mistake, receptionist was lovely, we were shown to our “superior room” 105 which we paid extra for as staying 2 nights as thought the extra space would be nice, the room is smaller than our last, not enough room to swing a cat, not one drawer for any clothing items and a few hangers a dirty cup and a small bed, no GHD hairdryer or iron and board as stated in description just a cheap Remington dryer! There is no where to put the kettle and cups if u also want to put your cosmetics etc on the minuscule dressing table (for want of a better word for it) I did read the most recent negative reviews but always keep an open opinion, big mistake!!
I recently spent 3 nights at the Gore. Greeted immediately by Trevor who took charge of our bags and escorted us to our lovely room. On our last night I tripped on a step at a local restaurant. Trevor met me at the front door and got me to my room with an ice pack for my ankle. Next morning I went to urgent care that Trevor had arranged for me. Make a long story short I had chipped bones and torn ligaments and was sent home with a boot and crutches and a prescription for pain...once again Trevor helped me to my room and went to a pharmacy to get my meds. My friends had to get home so I don’t know what I would have done without him!! Wonderful man I will always remember for his kindness to me. Overall the entire staff was great! Thank you again Trevor!
Beware of room 506, the room does not lock - it may be locked when you arrive but you can’t lock it yourself. We tried several times, each time reception were very blasé, said they’d look at it and said it would be ok...terrible attitude and lack of interest but we couldn’t move anywhere else at such short notice. Nobody wants to stay somewhere that is not secure. The room is a ‘superior double’ but very dated and cramped. The heating was on (hottest April day in 40 yrs), not great although we did sleep well after putting the air con on all night. Location is excellent for RAH and Kensington area but I’m sure there are better places to stay.
Narrow rooms with uncomfortable layout. Room was dirty, old and all furnitures weren’t renovated, very noisy. You hear everything outside and inside the hotel (others guest, staff and cars). Not worth to stay here, our experience was disappointing I would like to write one sentence about the hotel, it’s just a nice pictures on the websites but not real
The hotel market in London seems oversaturated but prices are still extremely high. The Gore offers an excellent hotel experience at a London price. The hotel is very nicely situated, with small rooms (typical London), with all amenities somehow stashed away in the small space. The quality of the rooms, service, and breakfast are impeccable. As it should be at this level!
Staff very friendly and helpful. We were on the 5th floor but had to walk from 3rd due to water damage on 4th floor although case was brought up to room. Due to the positioning of the toilet paper rolls (2 of them??) adjacent to the pan, the only practical way to do ones business was to ride side saddle, at least it made us laugh!!didnt have breakfast due to £24 pp charge. Drinks at bar came with a service charge. Decor is amazing. Perfect location for RAH. Would go back but would request a lower room!
We chose The Gore for it's boutique style and convenience, being close to the Albert Hall. First impressions are good, very welcoming staff and nice interior with lots of character. Our room wasn't ready quite to time, but that's ok, the staff offered us complimentary drinks in the bar while we waited. We were given a room on the top floor which was accessed by a combination of tiny lift and small staircase. First impressions were ok, yes the room was bijoux, not like the ones seen on the website, but we knew that booking a cheaper deal with hotels.com meant we'd probably not get the best room. The issues were the temperature, despite the air conditioning being on its lowest setting it was still stifling, I can't imagine what it would be like in warmer weather. Then there was a water pressure problem which meant the toilet would hardly flush, the hotel being fully booked here and at the sister hotel meant that we had to use a toilet in another single room not booked out. This is not a situation that we would expect to encounter in any hotel but particularly one of this calibre. We were compensated by a 50% reduction from our evening meal. The food in the restaurant was of good quality and we both enjoyed our meals ( the seabream being especially good) but this situation impacted on our overall experience. I left feeling disappointed when I'd wanted to stay for so long.
Stayed for a night whilst catching a show at the Royal Albert Hall. Very convenient location and the walk from Paddington through Hyde Park was a nice one. Yes it’s a boutique hotel and the staff were friendly but it didn’t feel like a 4*. The superior room was small, the bathroom a bit dated with a lingering smell of damp and the windows hadn’t been closed properly at the front meaning it was cold and drafty on arrival. Wouldn’t be my go to location for a return visit to the Royal Albert Hall but I’d keep it as a backup.
We stayed at the Gore Hotel for two nights. The hotel and staff were so helpful. We were traveling as a party of 5 with three seriously jet lagged kids. Trevor, the concierge, was the best!!! We had two rooms. One was rather small but the other was perfect. The beds were very comfortable. The continental Breakfast was healthy and delicious with enough food to satisfy my two teenage boys. The hotel itself is so charming. We enjoyed every minute of it. Thank You for being so kind to our family.
