Wouldn't let me cancel my reservation; told me I had to cancel with Orbitz. Orbitz said I had to cancel with Howard Johnson. Bottom line - can't get my money back for a 5 day stay for which I only stayed 1 night. Dog hair in the frig. and shower, human hair on the pillow, bed and shower, something dark and dried ( poo or blood?) on bathroom floor - see photo, frig dripped all night and left puddle on floor right by sink where electrical plug is to use for hair dryer, etc., bed hard, chest drawer wouldn't open due to handle missing, room too dark even with all lights on, lots of noise from the hallway and other rooms (although it was Canada Day), no tissues, pen, paper, motel directory, town directory, fitness room a joke - treadmill and cycle broken and not usable, recumbent cycle seat not in correct position, air conditioner in fitness room not working. The staff was wonderful. They were welcoming, funny, understanding. Unfortunately the room itself left some things to be desired: the curtain was off it's track which in and of itself would have been fine, it still closed - just hung all wonky. However: * the comforter also had what looked like burn holes on the top and underlining - maybe a drier ran too hot? * the bathroom door had this dark yellow-ish sticky stuff on the surface - almost what you'd expect if smokers had been in the room * the toilet paper was nearly empty, i had to go to the front desk for more, * the toilet water pressure wasn't very strong I'd still recommend it because the staff was really really nice, and it was inexpensive, and very easy to get too. Plus, their breakfast was simple but filling and the rest of the place - the hallways, outside, parking - was all clean. So maybe I got a bad room for the night that hadn't been cleaned or something when they thought it had? Anyway, I'd def. give it another go, and they were lovely at the front desk, so maybe I was just unlucky.
I am a business traveler and needed an early night to be rested for work. The entire corridor was full of partying young people. All night long they were drinking, going back & forth, slamming doors, and being very loud. To their credit the hotel staff tried many times to get control to no avail. Final the threat of police had some effect, but I would never stay here again. Hotel was unable to move me when I requested. Maybe a good hotel for young people!

My husband and I stopped overnight at the HJ on our way to Toronto. The hotel was just off of the hwy. The service was okay. Nothing special. Our room smelt funny and the tiny bar of soap was brittle. No hair conditioner - just shampoo. Thought it should have cost a little less for the quality level of the hotel. We scoped out the continental breakfast, which was included in the cost, and opted to go to Tim Hortons. I would choose another place to sleep next time I make a sleep stop in London.
