Awful hotel for the price we paid.. room like a shoe box. Never ever again. Stopped here as we was going to winter wonderland. First walking into the room could not believe the size of the room. A single room at a push definitely not a double. Bed tight to the wall and you have to walk sideways to get into the bed or climb in from the bottom. No room to get changed. You couldn't even sit on the toilet straight.. bed was terrible and filthy. No fitted sheets so you end up in the night sleeping on the mattress. We booked cause included breakfast. No choice whatsoever.... would a million percent not go back to this dump !!!
We stayed here for the purpose of winter wonderland, perfect location, we turned up and the key for our room wouldn’t work for ages, the beds were solid and so uncomfortable, the heating didn’t properly work and the breakfast is the worst of any hotel I’ve stayed in! Don’t add it onto the price.
This hotel fitted the bill for price and location and nothing more. Upon arrival got given key and that was it, yes that was it. No welcome, no description of where to go to your room, no where and when breakfast is on, no if you need anything, no this is how the Tv/heating/air con works and no enjoy your stay Straight away felt unwelcome. Whether a budget hotel or not. Manners and good service come free! Room was tiny but comfortable and reasonably clean. Bedding and tv were ok- kettle and tea/coffee,phone and hairdryer all fine. No cups though, just two saucers and a spoon. Went back down to reception to ask for cups and also request an extra pillow for my neck as I have arthritis in it. The man at the desks reception with a dull look on his face was like "oh no cups, hmmm Okay", then he stared at me for a few seconds and said ok and off he went to get them. When he returned I asked for a pillow. He said "no, no pillows, we have no pillows". No sorry either. This disgusted me. So if the room had a missing pillow then like the cups or I accidently spilt tea on my pillow or someone threw up on my pillow (ya never know), then the whole hotel has no spare pillows and I'd be left to sleep with no pillow??!! lol Hmm yeah okay.... Also asked about breakfast at this point and good job, I'd over heard someone in the lift say 10...nope 10 finish is on sundays, this was monday so 9.30 it finished. Never the less I returned to my room and had no choice but to get over the no pillow, Luckily I Was tired after a day of walking round london so laying down in the warm watching tele was all we wanted and bearable. Around 10pm there was a huge argument in the hallway outside our room, between someone staying there and one of the staff. She was yelling "I'm not staying here anymore, they have taken my money, this hotel are thieves".It did not last long and I nodded off, thank god. we Slept reasonably well. Shower was fine and included were free toilitries. Breakfast was continental and fine. Filled the gap. Although at 9.25 one of the waitresses was flitting around uncomfortably stating five minutes left, she said this twice. Which kind of put me off, I'd finished eating as she could see and was just trying to finish my tea. Some lady came down in a towel and clothes and said she had not been well and wondered if she could grab a roll or some bread as it was dry and some tea and coffee as her room had nothing in it. The same lady said no and that was it. It was 9.33?! and breakfast finished at 9.30. It seemed harsh, the packed up brioche would sit there till the next morning anyway and she had paid for that breakfast in with her room. I suppose it was her fault, being ill?! I won't be returning I am afraid. Unless it was on offer for even less that is and I needed to be in that area as it is central. Oh and I'd bring my own pillow and cups just incase! ;)
I spent a couple of days at this hotel with one of my best friends and we enjoyed it to the most. The area is easy to reach from Paddington tube station and it is quite close to the beautiful Kensington Gardens, what makes it much more memorable. The staff at the hotel were very friendly people, and the room was very clean and comfortable. The only thing they should improve is the breakfast area, too tiny. But I must say that the service was absolutely efficient.
I stayed in the hotel in November as a solo traveller in a double bedroom. Based on the room I had, the room is very compact and rough around the edges but you get what you pay for and it does the job. The rooms are very small, and two people in a double room should stay no more than a night to be honest. What was important for me was safety as I was walking from Paddington tube late each night and the route was safe. Yes, if you are looking for specks of dust you will find it, but based on the room I had, the horror reviews are unwarranted.
I see a lot of people waiting for service like the ritz in hotels with very low prices. The price was good for a weekend with the girlfriends and it was clean. Rooms are very small but we didn’t need much. The staff was very friendly and the bed were comfortable and we slept well. The breakfast on the other hand was not very good. We stayed there three days but only had breakfast there the first day. Not much variety and the fruits weren’t fresh. All in all, I would come back, because the location is just perfect and the price and accommodations are in order.
I have not actually said here but based on booking experience would certainly not recommend it. I booked via booking.com for next june who clearly stated there would be no prepayment and would be charged on arrival and room could be cancelled up to the day before for free with no charges. I very quickly did cancel the room as i realised it was in the wrong part of london for what i wanted and received written confirmation from booking.com this had been done free of charge. I was therefore horrified to find the next day my card had been debited the full amount of £119 which even had i not cancelled it should not have been. I rang the hotel and was further upset to be told multiple times despite what i had in writing that the room was payable in full and no refunds would be given for changes or cancellations! I asked to speak to the manager and was told i was. It was only when i mentioned fraud and false advertising that he said to email them and they would get back to me in 3-5 days! Totally unacceptable so i said i wanted a call back next day. I then rang booking.com who were equally mortified and confirmed this was completely untrue. They also rang the hotel and suddenly the 'manager' was actually only the receptionist and would have to wait til next day for manager to get in. I have since been assured by booking.com the hotel will be processing a full refund to my card so will wait and see but in the meantime i had emailed them with the confirmations as requested and have had no response from them whatsoever. I would have thought at least an apology and confirmation refund has been actioned would just be absolute basic customer service. Will not be staying here any time soon!
The perfect location when you need a bed for a night and you arrive into Paddington rather late. The room was small but I expected that. The bed linen was old and had holes in places. The bathroom looked like it had been recently tiled but there were corners where some new grout and a good clean would have made all the difference. The bed was comfy but I didn't get to enjoy a good night's sleep because of the very inconsiderate guests who were running around the corridor, slamming doors and smoking on the balcony next door until well after 2am. The windows are old and not double glazed so had to put up with the small of cigarette smoke wafting in. You also need to be able to put up with the road noise.
Ideal location to Paddington station. Perfect for travellers or if you’re up there for a night! Comfy beds. Not much room in the room and a bit dirty in corners but I’m not fussy and found it lovely for the price.
This hotel recently saw an upgrade to its rooms and most other areas. Very clean, well decorated space. Helpful front desk. Decent breakfast. It's proximity to Paddington stations makes it a perfect location if you want to explore London.
