We stayed here for three nights as we were having a few days in London including attending the All Points East festival and Victoria Park. The hotel is situated above a pub which wasn’t any problems at all for us. Staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was clean, small had everything we needed. The shower was SO powerful and hot! Really easy to get to the DLR station about a 5 minute walk! Would stay again!
DISGUSTING TREATMENT. I have been using this establishment since about 2012. I have parked there a lot and never had any problems. I parked my car in the car park to have breakfast with friends after we had been training. I noticed cameras but did not worry about them as I was going inside to eat food. There were no signs on the bar to tell me how/where to register my vehicle. Needless to say I received a parking ticket. I appealed said ticket and showed proof that I had been eating at the Fox. This was refused and they charged me £100 for the privilege. I thought this was absolutely disgusting, I never denied that I had parked there. I proved that I had been using the services. Would not recommend.
Stayed here for 2 nights while on business. Cannot fault it really. The room was clean, the shower was adequate and the room was quiet despite being near the airport. I did hear a bit of noise form the DLR but not much else. The heater was working too well in the room as when i arrived the room was too warm. Parking was very easy, but they do employ a car park management company to do the dirty work (I think it is Parking Eye and they are the worst of them, so ensure you put in the correct registration) If i need this area again and is in the company price range I will stay again.
I checked in to the hotel on Friday 26th and it was a great hotel. Friendly staff and comfy rooms. But this all changed when I left the hotel at 5.50pm there was a very large group of people in the bar area and I’m sure this was a party that had privately booked. When I returned to the hotel at 23.30 I had to walk through police and brawling party guests to even get towards the door to the rooms. The shouting and swearing could be heard on the third floor where my room was. I’m sorry but this party was a big mistake to book as I’m sure this was a party for the traveller community.
This hotel does look a bit twee from the outside but it really is a great place to stay. I arrived late last night during a televised football match and got a rather false impression of just how quiet and cosy the hotel is. The rooms are small but space-efficient and have everything you need for a short stay away from home. It is very close the ExCel centre which is handy and there are good links to the Docklands Light Railway. Beautifully clean and modern interiors make for a good stay in luxury. Being close to London City Airport there is little noise due to the noise insulation at the windows.
I was staying in a hotel near by and have eaten at the Fox on the other side of the Excel a number of times in the past. I thought I'd try hear as I was staying on this side for the 1st time. I only entered for something to eat. I ordered the Nachos with Chilli, but took a few mouth fulls and left the rest. It had been microwaved rather than oven heated and was cold and greasy. Not nice at all and even with a only a few mouths I can still taste it and feel sick. I won't be eating there again.
Really clean and soft lovely smelling towels. Room small but adequate. Drafty on account of the sash windows (I expect this old building is listed, preventing any improvement inn this respect), so would appeal to hardy types that enjoy fresh air. Nesh people like myself need to leave the heater on and is therefore not very good environmentally. There is no dining room. Food, including breakfast is served in the bar, and the menu is 'pub food' - if very good pub food. Note also that the bar has six large tv screens showing continuous football in the evening. Heaven for some, hell for others. Paris S G were playing Man United the night I dined here and the bar was very full of noisy football fans. Breakfast is cooked to order, there's no buffet. The full English was really nicely cooked and good value, but I would have preferred cereal and croissants, fruit and yoghurt. With hindsight that was probably available across the road at the Premier Inn. Also if you don't want the full English, lesser options are even less expensive so don't book breakfast in advance. The menu is online. Another pricing irritation; Im told not unique to this bar, - half pint of cider is £2.40. Whole pint of cider is £4.90 ? What's that all about.
Short walk to the ExCel centre's western entrance and DLR station. My room was small but well maintained and well equipped. Noise from adjacent main road was low thanks to double windows. I checked in around midnight so the late check-in process was very handy for me.
Walked to hotel from Prince Regent DLR, only 5 mins. However, direct path was dark through an unlit area ‘green’ area .... seemed pretty safe though. Hotel door wasn’t working so had to go via the pub. Unfortunately, because the ‘inside’ door wasn’t working, it meant going outside again to a different door to reach the rooms... this meant going down a step with no direct light and was dangerous. There was no alternative. My room was on the top floor up several flights of stairs with no lift. The room was a reasonable size, very comfortable bed, Wi-fi was good, bathroom was very small, with no toiletries other than soap. Very happy, apart from the noise of aircraft taking off at various times, in spite of the single glazing and internal secondary glazing..... earplugs recommended! Pub was okay, very busy late evening. Didn’t eat there so can’t comment on food. Booked and paid for breakfast on the booking website and wished I hadn’t as it would’ve been cheaper to choose off the menu. I would go again for a ‘reasonable’ (as far is can be reasonable near Excel) cost.
stayed here for 3 nights rooms were great, cleaned every morning . Even had air con which i found very good . Food is ok if a little basic ,burgers or fish n chips. Typical London prices... a brief walk and you'll find some decent restaurants .
