First of all, great location. 10 minutes from a tube station, shops and most importantly, the pub... Hotel staff outstanding, anything we asked for they granted, very approachable and made you feel comfortable from the minute we stepped through the door. Breakfast lovely also. In terms of the rooms, the toilet was spotless, shower a bit weak but not much of a problem and beds/furniture were spic and span. Would definitely stay there again.
Booked to stay for a weekend & was told to pay full amount at check in. Couple days before we were automatically charged random amount, then were told to pay full amount again on arrival. 2 days after leaving we were charged another large sum again, even though full amount was already paid.
The receptionist was very unwelcoming and barely spoke when we arrived making it very uncomfortable. The bed and rooms where clean enough but the tv didn't work in the room. People banging and talking loudly through the night so we had very little sleep, I would've got a better nights rest in the back of my van
This place was horrible the only the that was even decent was the food in the vending machine the breakfast was ok. Dirt every where but the best is there was BED BUGS! yes bed bugs (yuck) room stuck of smoke probably something illegal no TV like promisso 1 star
I stayed here over Christmas for 2 nights with my brother. It is very basic but clean beds are comfortable and very good full English breakfast. The staff were welcoming and helpful. Idea place for us visiting family and a good price. It has very good links to cental London bus or tube
I stayed here on Boxing Day 2016 to go and watch Arsenal play as there were no trains running that day. It's a mile away from the ground and I knew paying such a small amount meant I was not going to be staying at the Ritz, so why expect too much! Contrary to other posts I thought the staff were fine and chatted with them on my arrival and they were friendly. Yes, my room was small but it was clean, just as the bed was along with a heater that was already warming the room. Breakfast was good, although as someone else pointed out a Full English includes sausage and tomatoes, but in the state I was I really didnt care! Yes the place could do with a makeover as other people have mentioned. That said it was fine for what I needed and if I have to stay over again I will use it again with out a doubt.
Spent one night at Charlies following a concert at the O2 Forum, Kentish Town and was pleasantly surprised after reading some of the previous reviews. The room itself was clean as were the carpet and bed linen and it was warm. The shower was hot and was perfectly adequate. No mirror in the room or coat hangers in the wardrobe. Breakfast was OK, no cereal and no sausage or tomato with the "full English" but hey-ho, these proprietors are not out to give you an "amazing experience" just a basic service.
Stayed at Charlie's 4 nights, spent all days out in London so we just needed a place to sleep and shower. The hotel could definitely use some redecoration, if the place was fixed up it could be really picturesque and charming. It has potential. The area is calm with restaurants and shops around the corners. It took us about 45 minutes from the hotel to commute to central London with the tube (including all the walking) The staff is friendly and helpful, breakfast was great. Wi-fi worked perfectly. Vending machine and brochures in the entrance. Our room however was not so nice with a dirty carpet, bathroom smelled mould and overall it's just worn down and basic. We didn't book a luxury hotel because we wanted to spend the money having fun as tourists. So if you're just looking for a place to sleep, shower and eat breakfast I would recommend Charlie's. But bring slippers so you don't have to walk barefoot on that carpet!
I reserved a two twin bed room, for two nights. We arrive and first impression the lady seemed unhappy or too busy. However, Check in was smooth and easy. Free parking is off street in the back behind a fence safe and sound ! Beds have one blanket and a flat sheet, one bed squeezed terribly and one of the blankets In my room is torn terribly! Only came with one towel! They came in to my room while I was away but did not replace soiled towels or torn blanket. Vending machine only takes coin, but lady has key and will open and you get what you want. She actually came out on her housecoat to assist! Walls are very thin, I was woke up many times through both nights! Wifi very scratchy, 3am best time to use! Had breakfast first morning, had great lady cooking and very friendly !! Good food !
I do hope I had the worse room ! (Room 2) - it seems to have been added outside as an afterthought (picture provided) The one positive point is the possibility to park your car off the road, but you need to be lucky ( about 10 spaces for 27 rooms) the bedroom was tiny but clean - they do have a problem with their plumbing : water leaks on ceilings, mould in bathroom, and the noise form the other bathrooms and kitchen seemed to concentrate in the room No tea/coffee facility internet very slow and erratic no bed-side lamp .. take a torch to find your bed after switching off the main light the room was sold as double, but i dare any couple to fit in that bed
