The Best Western Cromwell was *meh*...Hotel is in excellent location, close to Gloucester Underground Station, museums, and Hyde Park. Overall cleanliness of the room was good. The double paned windows kept out the busy street noise. I don’t know why the picture of the hotel shows a patio outside on a balcony since we had a window to what used to be a balcony but it wouldn’t open. The bed was comfortable enough for a short stay, but the duvet felt worn and shabby and it was so small that wife and I were practically fighting over it in our sleep. The worse part was the smell. The bathroom was pretty clean, although the towel heater bar didn’t heat up. The toilet kept making burping gurgling noises when someone in another room would flush the toilet and it constantly smelled of sewer and public bathroom in our bedroom. And the bathroom itself smelled so so so bad. The rooms are very small. They would cause claustrophobia after a night or two. We could hear strange trickling pipe noises in our room. The WiFi was very slow, I had a hard time working on my laptop. This hotel is a chain and they need to spend money on improvements.

Conveniently located. Tube station right across the street. Found two restaurants we visited multiple times. Garfunkel's and Stanhope arms. Breakfast & dinner respectively.

Great location next to tube but downstairs rooms are awful. They are dirty and need updating. Have stayed here several times before on other floors with no issues.

I have been starting here 4-6 times a year on business since 2012. Over the last year the hotel has had major changes in staff. New staff are rude and extremely patronizing to the guest. Ina tutu saw one of the front desk make rude gestures behind a gust back after she checked in. The biggest issue is it's so dated. This hotel has received NO upgrades or maintenance to its rooms or stairwell. The carpet is dirty, stained and thread bare. The showers are rotting, with water leaking out around the bottom. The is black mold in the shower and around the baseboards on the rooms. I actually had the same room last June and last October and the air/heaters was not working both trips. This used to be a great basic hotel in London, with a great location. Now it's more like a 1980's hostel.

Overall a good stay. Staff was friendly and helpful.

I was disappointed with this hotel...the location was good and convenient but there was an odor in the hotel. There were no toiletries until I requested a refill on the soap/shampoo dispenser. It was equivalent to a motel in America.

The room is very, very small, so we were under stress for the size of the room. I hit my head to a wall a couple of times. The staff is not professional. They lost my post mail. The location is the only good thing for this hotel.

I would love to write a positive review for this hotel but unfortunately I can’t, it all started with when we went to check-in. We were told by the front desk that we have to check-in at their sister hotel the park internal which is two blocks up and was upgraded. We made our way over to the other hotel and checked-in, we were told our room is in the lower level. We made our way down the lift to the basement, thru the tiny hallway to the room, and enter our room. The room had slight smelled like the sewer, and there was a big stain on the blanket on the bed, I called the front desk and ask if they could change the room. They said no, that the hotel was fully booked and we could try asking the next day. We make do and try to settle in for the night, since we have an early trip the next day at 7am. We were gone for the day and return around 9pm, there loud noise above our head (seems the basement is below a restaurant was not open the previous night). There was drumming, chair dragging and lots of footsteps all the way up to midnight. We could not wait to check out the next day! Also the internet was very slow and temperamental.

I was surprised at the hotel being that Best Western is not one of the top places in the States to stay. I usually stay at the Millenium when I come into town but decided to try something different. The location is great, the hotel is lovely, the room is clean but small. The staff accommodating. Was a pleasant surprise!

The location of the hotel is great -- across the street from the tube station and a short walk to the Victoria and Albert, Natural History, and Science museums. Plenty of restaurants nearby. Those are the plusses. Minusses: The room was small -- but this it to be expected to keep the price down. Breakfast cost extra, so we ate at local cafes. The big downer was the maintenance. We had no less than 5 of the lights in our room that didn't work when we checked in. We told the front desk about it, but only one bulb was replaced. So we couldn't see into the clothes wardrobe and everything else was dim (I downloaded a flashlight app for my phone as a result). Also, the room decor was new and modern-chic, but I think a great example of form defeating function. I would challenge anyone to find stupider or more unususable door and closet pulls than were there. One can only ask of the architect/designer: what were you thinking? Finally, the front desk staff -- a bunch of young, Eastern and Southern Europeans (as was true in most of the hotels and restaurants we found -- they're cheap presumably!)-- were friendly but almost utterly useless. Their training was obviously minimal (a knock on the management, not them) and they did not seem to know how to help (e.g. with restaurants, directions, travel) other than smiling sweetly. Fortunately, there is the internet and google, so maybe this is the new normal. It's up to us to make our own way. Again, all of this may be in keeping for a relatively low price hotel, especially given the terrific location. However, once bitten ... we'll pay more to get better in future.

Hotel was perfect! The hotel was so close to the underground tube and food store and getting around. Would stay again.

Convenient location, breakfast good, staff tried to be helpful, but room extremely small and crowded with a peculiar smell. WiFi only worked part of the time, room safe could not be used, little room for suitcases, outside door to the small patio lock kept jamming, or would not lock without a lot of fiddling with it.

The room was kept impeccably, and the bathroom facilities were lovely (great shower). The bedroom was tiny, but the bed was big.

The hotel was clean and well maintained however the room size left a lot to be desired. The location was excellent with great access to the train and bus services. I found that the air condition was not as cold as I would have liked it to be. Also a small fridge and microwave would have been nice to have in the room also.

Great Location. Didn't like the fact that the only king rooms are in the basement, but I guess with older buildings that just might be how it is. It was clean and the bed was comfortable.

this was my first time in UK, this hotel is at a great location, very close to the tube and supermarket.

We found this to be a great hotel. The location was great and the staff was very nice. The room was very large for London standards and the bathroom was large and updated. Our room had a very nice balcony and large bed. Overall we were very very pleased with this hotel and would stay here again without a second thought. Based upon our experience I would recommend this hotel.

We were staying 2 nights in London on vacation before we went out into the country. It was in a great location, easy to find. Just around the corner from the Gloucester road station. The staff was friendly enough. Not in your face with fake kindness. They were very polite and down to business. The room was tiny. Was a simple double bed room. The bed took up most of the room so it was a bit awkward. Honestly, anyone travelling to the uk should understand a lot of hotels are old buildings converted into hotels. So I wasn't that surprised it was small. The bed was comfortable. The room was VERY clean. Everything was modern and updated...just small. You're just there to sleep so it was perfect essentially. They have a gym, a bar, breakfast etc. Lots of food places and pubs near by and open late so I really thought it was a great choice.

This hotel has a great location right around the corner from Gloucester Road Station. Which by the way, has Piccadilly line trains that go to Heathrow. There is a grocery store, Waitrose, across the street but it is more expensive than a Tescos. I see the prices for this hotel and can't believe it because I wouldn't pay that much for this place. I got a great deal and thus stayed. If I didn't get a deal I would find another hotel. Overall, the rooms are small as is the norm in London but it was comfortable. The bathroom was nice. The room also had a safe which was great. Really just another place to stay if your just going to be sleeping there. Also, there is a bus stop outside the front door which will take you all the way down Oxford Street. I would stay again if I got a deal.

I just spent two nights at the Cromwell on a business trip to London. Hotel was extremely well-located and quiet, only a block from the Gloucester Rd. underground station on the Picadilly Line (you can take the tube straight there from Heathrow in less than an hour.) It's also not far from Hyde Park, which is terrific for runners. Room was extremely small, even for one petite person, but it was impeccably clean. Bathroom was small but nicely appointed. Staff was very nice and accommodating, and stored my bag at no charge for the first day since I arrived well before check-in time and needed to head right out for meetings. There was a hairdryer and working tv, though remote was kind of grimy so I had to sanitize it.
