This hotel is a great one for the accommodations : nice pool, nice restaurant, fitness room, bar... But I'm not sure the rooms deserved the 4**** status. The room is well-sized but doesn't look new, the double bed is turned into a 2 single beds, and the bathroom is not cleaned as it should !
Stayed for a 3-day business trip in October. The rooms were big, very nice and elegant. I requested a room looking at the river and got a side look which was again OK for me. The staff were very helpful as I had a couple of problem with my invoices. The breakfast at the hotel was perfect!!!
The Hotel is very elegant, clean and tasteful. The name "Vila Gale Opera" is adequate to the very nice decorations inside hotel. It's full of composer's portraits, old costumes used in opera performances, sheet music from Traviata on the wall and very nice pianos which create subtle, artistic atmosphere. Also each single room is named by names of famous musicians in the world. The staff is friendly and cultural, breakfast is very tasty and location close to Belem is also very nice. I've found only 3 things which are uncomfortable: there's no iron in the room (customers have to use housekeeping service), the bath is narrow and electric sockets are located far away from bed. Finally: I really recommend this hotel. I'd like to go back there whenever I come back to Lisbon. It's a huge pleasure to spend time there. Thank You.
Good confortable room. Helpfull staff and nice public rooms. Location not great and a bit noisy although insulation in the hotel helped. Good value for short break and taxi to city centre were not expensive.
This Hotel has a very good price positioning... and no one can expect a five star service ! The staff is friendly and as helpful as possible , the quality of the food at the restaurant is more than acceptable. But the biggest drawback is the proximity of the trains and the bridge which make the hotel very very noisy and inconfortable at night! Moreover the clearness of the room is poor .
I have recently stayed at this hotel for a business meeting the hotel offers excellent amenities, the rooms are comforter ball and the beds are extremely comfortable for sleeping at night the noise is not an issue you don't notice this. The breakfast offers a wide range of choices from hot and cold selections. The service in the hotel is excellent and the staff really are very helpful. A great place to stay with panoramic views of the bridge and easy access to get to the main centre of the city will definitely return and use this hotel.
In some ways eccentric. Having seen the reviews and being a little worried about the noise, yet needing to stay here for a business meeting, I contacted the hotel to ask for a quiet room. I was told to book a superior one, which cost about 20% more. Now imagine being able to book this without being asked for a credit card, and even given a room key without being asked for a card, which seemed odd. The turned out to be more of a suite than a room, with the bedroom looking over a busy road towards the Tagus. Noise isn't a problem - actually the only thing you hear is overhead aircraft, as the place is under the flight path, but it really isn't intrusive. The only issue turns out to be what happens when you order some food. I got something from room service, which could only be paid for in cash, as their card reader had broken! Quite why this place doesn't ask for a crad at reception is bizarre. As is the electricity supply. All power went off in my room the following morning, which seemed to be a known fault. It was fixed when I had breakfast. A propos of which I have never seen a scene of such complete chaos in a hotel. There aren't enough tables, it's a total free for all, and, you've guessed it, they too can only take cash. Nonetheless, the hotel staff are charming and helpful, Belem and its impressive art gallery are within walking distance, and I'd stay here again.
After reading previous reviews slight concern about noise from bridge but as we normally live by a railway line not a great concern. Location was what we wanted close to Belem , though we should have walked another route there took long trip through town and not via river! Reception very efficient , room excellent with view of the river, daily complementary water and fruit. Only downside in the whole interior is the subdued lighting, makes things very difficult for those with poor sight. Used the restaurant each night and found buffet good value for money , need to watch times though as you can suddenly be inundated with large coach parties. Selection of range of foods covered most tastes, the same applies at breakfast. Would stay again next time in Lisbon.
Average hotel. Has all you need and is clean. due to its location (under the April 25 bridge, the rooms are noisy. Especially noise from trains crossing the bridge enter the room. It's also under the approach of runway 03.
The rooms overlooking the bridge are impossible to sleep in if you are a light sleeper like Noise from trains and cars on bridge and cars and trains under the bridge. In flight path of airport. Non stop noise until gone midnight. The buffet when it opened at 7.30pm was tepid and congealed. The nearest restaurants were 20 minutes walk away but situated under the bridge so constant noise. The breakfast was good. Hotel situated a long way from the historic centre of Lisbon. The charge for the use of a safe is 3 euros per night.
