This hotel has it all. It looks fairly new in very good condition with a nice pool and gym. The stall are friendly and efficient. The Breakfast (until 10:30am) is very good with many hot and cold items and custom made grill station. A lock for the safe will cost you 2.5 euros/day. The hotel is located right under the bridge across the river so you have easy access to the river and all the restaurants and bars at the docks. You also have local stores and restos on the opposite side of the hotel in a quiet area. You can catch a tram to the downtown or walk as we did a few kms to commerce square for shopping, dining, or tours. Any of the hop-on hop off buses are a great way to get to know the city. Also, you can walk the boardwalk along the river across from the hotel going right towards several monuments including the Belem tower. Will definitely return to Lisbon and this hotel will be on our return list.

Reasonably priced, good buffet breakfast and evening restaurant well organised with a variety of good food. Rooms clean and comfortable and staff very helpful. Tram and bus stops nearby, also trains so access to the city is easy. We also used taxies and the little Tuk tuk buggies. Also went on a boat trip on theRiver Tagus, lovely views

I was there for a meeting at the conference centre with a few days &R added on. As a business hotel it was great - very businesslike with conference and meeting facilities and very close to the convention centre (5 mins walk). As a leisure hotel it was ok but it was full of visiting coach parties (new loads of foreign tourists in each day) and this made breakfast a bit of a free for all. there were all the standard amenities - a nice bar, gym , restaurant etc etc. the location is some way out of town - public transport is plentiful and cheap (we used taxi, tram , bus and train and all worked fine and were cheap Belem is walking distance away . There is a pool with outside decking which was fine apart from the noise..which is probably the key element that makes this good rather than excellent.Noise comes from: planes going into airport - the hotel is on the flight path; Road/rail in front of hotel; There is a 3 lane highway in front of the hotel with a train line going down the middle; Construction noise - they are rebuilding the bridge next door and there is construction noise during the day; Road/Rail noise from the bridge - a steady drone of traffic at all hours and an incredible noise when a train went over. In your room it is ok but walking around or in external areas - bar, swimming pool, street - the noise is incredible. we slept well and enjoyed our stay but for a charge of 125 euros a night the noise levels make it less than value for money. The staff were great, efficient, helpful. Our taxi to the airport was only 16 euros.

The hotel was a good base for us, close to the main tram line and just about within walking distance (about 45 minutes) of where we needed to be for a work conference which was close to the main centre of Lisbon so this perhaps wouldnt be your first choice of hotel if you wanted to be more central. The rooms were nice although wifi only available in the hotel reception and then not particularly strong signal. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. We didnt eat any other meals there so I cant comment on other food. The room had a safe with no lock - presume you had to pay extra for this which I felt was a bit petty. I would recommend though that you take flat comfortably shoes to Lisbon, all pavements are cobbled and uneven so difficult to negotiate in anything else!!! We took a taxi from the airport and were grossly over charged - 30 euros - should have been 15 - 20 apparently. When we left we took the underground train - 1.90 euros this was easy to negotiate.

If spending significant time at the congress centre, this is ideal, as it's a 5 minute walk away. The staff are unfailingly polite and pleasant and wifi is good. It's a shame that there are no tea/coffee making facilities and 2 small bottles of water in the minibar seems a bit stingy. Possibly the brownest hotel I've ever stayed in, and definitely ask for a room away from the bridge!

The Hotel is new, good rooms, but if your rooms are facing the bridge, the noise is too high as, in the bridge yo have, roll trafic, trains and is located in the final approach of the airport runway, therefore you have also the planes flying nearby, so choose the room facing the front part of the hotel nor the rear!!

The rooms are adequate. They are a little noisy being so close to the bridge. I can't complain about cost of room and we only needed a room for 15hours as we were flying to Spain. We booked a junior suite and they gave us a single room to start. I could not have stayed in a single room 2 beds put together. The hotel has had a mini renovation re paint laminate floor and carpet but it's very basic decor. They donot have kettles in rooms and was told none were available. The location is good. We walked 200m up the road crossed the over bridge and walked to the port and caught the hop on hop off bus for 20 euros. The room was clean even though it didn't seem that way due to age of hotel. Parking is very cheap at 7.50 euro per day. There is also free wifi no need to sign in and out.

Vila Gale Opera is located just 30/40 meters from the Tagus River, but to go there you need to cross two main avenues (parallel) + 1 train line. To go there you need a taxi or a tuk-tuk. Due to this and only this, location, this hotel is somehow a disappointment. everything else is very good from facilities to food and service. Mixed Feelings

It was time to start traveling internationally again (7 months since the last time) and the first stay for the two week sojourn was at the Vila Gale Opera in Lisboa. It was my first time at Vila and to this untrained eye it looks like its geared towards the Portuguese market or former colonies of Portugal. Writing this review in retrospect, I definitely think it was great given the cost and service provided. Clean rooms, no maintenance issues that I can speak of and just overall a friendly staff and of course the ever important web access, free. I tried breakfast for one day of my one week stay and it found it to be if I dare say worth the cost. Plenty of offerings and I could have kept on eating to my heart’s content. Another factor that made it a plus for me was the location. A 10 minute taxi from the airport and close to work. I was able to ride the bus everyday which I am sure someone at the company will be glad to see the cost savings. In summary, I would come back to Vila, no second thoughts.

Certainly this hotel is in a convenient position if you want to see the port area of Lisboa and the old town. It's close to Belem but unfortunately even closer to the April 25th Bridge. Infact, it's virtually underneath it. That means you get traffic and train noise almost constantly from above and below. Not sure why the designers didn't take this into account and install better noise prevention because the view from our room was beautiful across the Tejo. We had a superior room which was excellent with a bedroom and separate lounge area although the bathroom was on the small side. Very clean and fresh room. Breakfast was also good with plenty of choice. Receptionist could have been a little more welcoming and informative but that was one individual. I would like to give this hotel a better rating because if it wasn't for the noise issue, it was almost perfect. Best advice is take some ear plugs to wear at night.
