Hotel Jorge V3.0 out of 5.0

Very drab dark and tired hotel photos show it in a much better light, needs refurbishing everything very drab and out of date staff appear as tired as their surroundings start with a lick of paint, on the up side clean towels and bedding loved Lisbon would visit again but not to this hotel
This hotel is centrally located, up the hill, with many restaurants nearby and excellent public transport connections from the nearly Avenida Libertadores. When you enter, it looks like the typical, slightly rundown, budget hotel. However, to our surprise our room was large, comfortable and clean. We had booked a room for 3 (2 adults and an adult daughter) and received a two-room apartment with a main bedroom and a comfortable sitting room with a bed-sofa. The bathroom was well-appointed, the carpet new and spotless and the wardrobe space, ample. Similarly, the breakfast room was small, but excellent and although "a continental breakfast" was included in the room rate, there were several cooked breakfast options at no extra charge and a buffet as good as many, more expensive hotels that I have visited. All in all, we were surprised and delighted. Although we had no view from the window, the room was quiet and we slept well.
Location is good. Room was basic, but clean and just fine. The room was cheap and included breakfast, so I was skeptical about how the buffet might be, but I was positively surprised. Fruit, eggs, bread, juice etc. was all nice. So if you're looking for a budget option in Lisbon, then I can definitely recommend Jorge V.
Decent enough hotel that meets all the basic requirements. Although there was no tea and coffee in the room and the bed was on the hard side (plus you can hear the people in the next rooms), there was free wifi and a minibar, as well as a safe. Breakfast was good, but the coffee could have been better. Best thing about the hotel is the location - five minutes away from the metro station Avenida on the blue 'Azul' line. There are also some nice cafes nearby that does delicious custard pastries and coffee. The hotel is a comfortable enough base to explore Lisbon and is cheap compared to the other hotels in the area.
3 night stay, away from the city centre. Not the best place, but comfortable enough. No tea or coffee in the room, safe supplied, beds firm but comfortable, bathroom clean enough. Breakfast was a problem, small dining area and buffet style with eggs, boiled, fried or scrambled, if they get round to doing them. (must be the slowest cooker in Portugal). There were juices, cold meat and cheese, bread and butter. Adequate to start the day but long wait for people to vacate tables and mingling at the food platters. Close enough to buses and the metro, not too far from some reasonable restaurants, tried the bar but gave up after waiting for someone to come and serve. Budget hotel, more than adequate for a short stay.
I usually pick budget hotels and have low expectations but this place was a disappointment. Beds were firm but single beds with hardly any space between them. Tried pushing them together but then we fell into the gap. Room sort of contained a safe but it didn't have a lock. No kettle in the room. Fridge contained two beers, two cokes, two orangeades and two waters. Bathroom very small with bath and shower over it, toilet, sink and bidet. Shower was warm enough but taps were really difficult to turn. Room was on the front and had a balcony. It was a bit noisy in the morning. There is an elevator but it's tiny! Breakfast was pretty decent. No bar in hotel. Hotel quite close to metro and a shortish down hill walk into the centre of the city. I wouldn't stay there again.
The hotel had a great character and is in an old building - the switch depicting a maid in the room shows the glamour of a bygone age . The hotel has small lifts and dated decor but this all adds to its charm - a change from modern purpose built hotels . Breakfast was good and the double room we had big enough and clean with a big bathroom - wifi fabulous for such an old building - take a multi charger as power sockets are limited but free hairdryer in bathroom . Situated between2 main subway stops and so close to excellent public transport it's location is excellent Already planning our return to Lisbon and would stay here again
Room dated but adequate only 1 socket for charging phones . Asked for 2 extra coffee capsules .I was charged 3 euro .requested early morning call and they forgot .level of service pretty poor .would describe it as a cheap hotel
The hotel is located well, easily accessible, you can walk pretty much everywhere. The staff was very nice, helpful, speaks good English. The rooms are nice and big, they clean the room every day. The breakfast is way above the standard Mediterranean breakfasts we had in other hotels.
Centrally placed which is useful. Staff friendly and welcoming. Good breakfast. Could do with an update but room clean and a good size. TV only has the news but fortunately has a great wifi service to compensate. Coffee machine in the room, so as a tea drinker that it was disappointing that I could not boil a kettle to make a cup if tea. Overall a good hotel.
