This must have been a grand old hotel. Close to the casino, amazing views from great balconies, a breakfast room looking down the coast... But then things unravel. The room was basically falling apart at the seams, with stains on the walls, cracks everywhere, hardly any electrical plugs, and the toilet stopped working. The last problem was the worst and indicative of how poorly managed and refurbished the place is. We called down around 9-10pm to get assistance for the toilet. The person at the desk said no one was available, but they'd send someone in the morning. The inner parts had come apart and it would not flush! What if it had been leaking? Would they let water flood the room below all night?!? I called back once I collected my thoughts to complain that was impossible, and he said 'Fine, come down and get another room key'. He expected us to walk across the hall whenever we needed the toilet. Or change to an inferior room with separate beds in the middle of our stay, without even eye contact or an apology. I ended up taking the toilet apart and tried to fix it myself so we could get through the night. Terrible! It is clear the hotel is not even being looked at by Sana -- the information on the door still had the old hotel name! After the trip I wrote and gave the management a chance -- and they only replied that they hoped my stay did not ruin my opinion of the city!!! That is shocking and suggests that perhaps all Sana hotels should be avoided if that is how they are run. It is too bad as it is a great location and has wonderful views.

Staff/Service: friendly. No fine touches but nice to speak with. Rooms: very basic, and the beds were the hardest beds I've ever slept in. Left me with shoulder and back pain. Friends stayed there and booked double rooms but were given twin rooms. Some of which couldn't be put together due to room layout. Overall: solid 3 star with pool, serving as a decent base for a stay in estoril. Good location.

I was a bit concerned given some of the reviews on this site, but this hotel is perfectly fine and reasonably priced given the facilities. Yes, it's a bit tired and run down, yes the beds are a bit on the hard side with lumpy pillows - but the place is clean, does a good breakfast (with excellent view), the staff are friendly enough and unobtrusive, and the location is good (although on a main road, the windows are heavily double-glazed, so noise really wasn't an issue). If you are not looking for top of the line luxury, but just a reasonably priced hotel for a few days near Lisbon, I'd say you'd be perfectly OK with this place.

Staff has been very wonderful however, the pillows were lumpy and rooms quite small. The windows don't close properly. Breakfast is carb heavy so little healthy options. The view is spectacular in the breakfast room

We arrived early and wanting to put our cases somewhere we decided to ask the hotel. We were greeted by "you are very early". No pleasantries exchanged we left our bags and waited until gone 2pm as suggested for our room. We had booked in April and requested a double room with an extra bed for 3 there was plenty of time for the hotel to get it right, imagine our surprise when the door opens to a twin room with an extra child's bed, although the concierge continued to argue his point that many adults had slept on that bed. (I imagine they had as it was exceedingly old and tatty). We were offered another room but on inspection it only had 2 beds. The final offer was to wait a night and see what could be done the next day. As we were only staying 4 nights we decided to leave as it would have been 25% of our stay in an awful room, the mini bar incidentally was empty...the curtain was torn, the balcony had cheap plastic furniture and the room was so dated that we really felt depressed. On the child's bed on top of a neatly folded towel was an empty shampoo bottle strategically placed. This sums The Sana Hotel up really. We had to pay a £155 cancellation fee even though the hotel made a grave error in their room choice. I overheard the concierge telling a woman that she could only have a towel for the pool if she paid a deposit...other hotels have towels by the pool. I feel for the staff as they are dealing with an outdated hotel that seems to be managed badly. I would advise anyone to look elsewhere, this hotel is cheap because it is terrible. We were very lucky indeed to find a room at a nearby boutique hotel which was very luxurious indeed. I still think the decent thing for them to do would be to refund our £155 as they mucked up not us! Give this one a miss!

first I have to apologise for my late review as we stayed mid June and only getting to review now. second I am glad I can review your hotel with 4 stars and cannot believe that the most recent submissions are for the same hotel we stayed in I definitely think they stayed in a different hotel!!! SANA ESTORIL is a must stay in hotel when visiting the area. Its Location is 5/5 sea view 5/5. The rooms are quite adequate for your holiday needs- who stays in all day looking for problems !!! Bar staff were so friendly we loved our nightly bar visits. Breakfast good with plenty choice and better than some european hotels. view from breakfast room amazing. would love a return trip and will be recommending to anyone visiting area.

My friend and I checked into the Epic Estoril to conclude a beautiful trip to Portugal. We wanted to be somewhere close to the Lisbon airport but still have the opportunity to explore some slightly new areas and thought that perhaps the Estoril/Cascais region would suffice. We were shocked at the high prices of the properties during the summer season, and even more shocked when we entered the hotel for the first time yesterday. Though the outside of the hotel tries to appear grand and welcomes visitors with a marble staircase and an old world lobby, the rooms are in utter despair, and I am greatly concerned about not only cleanliness but also safety. Wallpaper is peeling off the ceilings, floorboards are broken, bathroom tiles are cracked, doors are scratched, old brass light fixtures are rusting, and carpet is literally rolling in waves in the hallway. There is nothing grand or charming about this property. It is disgusting. My friend's room has had a broken air conditioner, a broken TV and nonfunctional outlets throughout the stay because the electrical wiring is so old that every switch is getting tripped. She can't even close the door to the bathroom because the configuration of the bathroom is so small and poor. The number of uncontaminated and disgusting things in my room has me questioning why we are still here for a second day (oh yes-- very few rooms available in this town, and not wanting to pay cancellation fees and go through the hassle of switching properties). I was greeted by a spider on my pillow, several small black bugs crawling on my worn out bedsheets, long black hairs on the floor of my bathroom, chunks of old fruits and vegetables lying next to the nightstand on the carpet, and my personal favorite highlight at midnight last night… Opening the bed to find black hairs all over and urine stains on the sheets. The poor gentleman at the front desk was embarrassed and felt badly as he had to hand me sheets and asked me to fix my own bed because no housekeeping services would be available. Needless to say, one cannot rest well knowing there are spiders hairs and pee in a bed that is rock hard and fit for a zombie. Couple that with extreme street noise, paperthin walls, and we are very frustrated in the amount of money we have spent at this property which is going to leave a bad taste in our mouth for what was a great trip. What would impress me is if the hotel was willing to refund some of the money for our stay because this has been unacceptable and disgusting on every level. Epic Estoril -- please don't reach out with a generic comment. Do the right thing and offer us a refined while we are still here. After having stayed at Epic Sana in Lisbon, we are questioning her decision to continue with this hotel brand.

We paid some extra to get a view to the ocean but unfortunately our room didn't meet our expectations. Our room was on the 1st floor and the noises of the traffic came really clearly as well as the noises from the corridor and other rooms. The mini-bar was completely empty. The beds and pillows were uncomfortable. We lost electricity on our room one night due to some problems in another room and the hotel's hairdryer broke with a huge bang and smoke. The breakfast was good and the view from the restaurant was beautifull. The staff was helpfull.

Old, cheap, accommodates groups of kids (apart from the noise, the swimming pool had chairs thrown inside), unfriendly staff. It was an hotel renewed just like their neighbours Vila Galé but have nothing in comparison. It doesn't have the usual standards of Sana Hotels.

Recently stayed here for a weeks holidays. Pleasant stay here with lovely staff. We had requested a double bed but they only had a room with two singles when we arrived however the next t day they were able to swap our room which was good however this room unfortunately was much smaller than our original, also the light switches were tricky to work correctly. All in all a good, clean place to stay, waling distance from beach and Cascais. Pleasant and friendly staff.
