This hotel is off Rt 81 about 6 miles or more. After a long drive, I thought it would be quicker to get there, but you go through town for a while. Not so bad, but just a little out of the way for me. When we arrived, I checked in and got my room keys. Having specifically asked for non smoking, I was given a room that was full of stale smoke. Even though the room was designated non smoking, is smelled. So, back to the front desk I go for another room. The clerk was VERY apologetic and quickly gave me another room. Well, those keys wouldn't unlock the door, so it's back to the front desk. Keep in mind I am with two seven-year-olds who are cranky and tired, I'm toting luggage, etc. This time she assigned me a third and final room. When I opened the door, it was heaven. The A/C was already on, the room was very nice and neat, but most of all, it smelled and looked brand new. Other than the experience with changing rooms three times, the only other that was uncomfortable experience was the swimming pool room temperature. It was ungodly hot and humid. Once in the pool, however, it was tolerable. We swam for a while but it started to get too warm for us. Overall, after the room fiasco, we had a very nice stay. The staff was very kind and courteous, especially to the children. The only reasons I may not recommend this place is the distance from the main highway, and if you like to swim after a long, hot day on the road, the temperature of the pool room.

Convenient, all the basic amenities, great rate, very friendly helpful staff. Had a smoking room, which smelled pleasant and was clean, though carpets could use a scrub. No problem with very late check in, nice breakfast, free Wi-Fi, and a pool. Definitely recommend.

Good extended four day stay to attend the Extreme Mustang Makeover competition.

The hotel is old but solid unlike newer hotels that look nice but have cheaply built walls. If you have a child the best thing about this hotel is the indoor pool. It is big and is open until 11pm. The staff are friendly. And the specialty for the complimentary breakfast is biscuits and gravy. A local treat!

My family and I went for a short vacation near by. The staff were very nice , but I think they could have done a better job in getting us extra pillow. The room was a bit dirty for me it had spider web all over the room , they didn't have hand soap, dust, one of the lamp didn't work . I was very disappointed on the room. the only thing we like was the pool, it was kids friendly instill an olderly couple stared to makeup in the pool we my kinds in it . They should have camera supervising the pool. Hope this help you make a decision.

It was not a good experience. The person at the desk had his feet on the counter playing a game. When we realized there was a party going on for most of the floor we called to be moved. We were told nothing could be done but we could check out and take our chances elsewhere. The military students were loud and slammed the doors and walls until the wee hours. The morning staff was nice and were helpful.

The staff was friendly and helpful, over all a good place to stay. The carpets in the hallways are worn but clean.

the location to where we needed to be was great. The size of the room and bathroom was good too. However, when we checked in the toilet was dirty and the floor was not cleaned. The microwave had food stuck to the glass tray. Around the shower there was mildew in every crack or seam. We lysoled everything before we used it and even though we told the desk clerk that the toilet was dirty she didn't send anyone down to clean it. When we were checking out we once again mentioned the bathroom needs some cleaning, the women seemed not interested BUT she would tell housecleaning. This hotel needs some TLC and it would be worth the money.

We were there for Parents Weekend at VMI and the location was close. The hotel felt closed in (ceiling height was very low in hallways. The indoor pool was cold, had a window into the restaurant so any one eating could see you, and most especially the indoor outdoor carpet was disgusting and there was mold on the ceiling. The people who worked there were nice.

Bathroom was very dirty, bed torn, funny smell in common areas. Toilet ran non-stop all night. Left without even showering. I have stayed in other places for same price or less and they have been much nicer. Overpriced for what you get.

It was just a stopover on our way up to the Northeast. We arrived very late (around 1am) and left pretty early. Staff was pleasant, room was clean, nice, and comfy.

Felt like a truckers' motel.
