We drove from Mogán to Las Palmas to break up our 10day trip. Motorways are fantastic and easy to navigate. We only got stuck trying to find the parking as advertised by the hotel. In truth there’s loads of parking so don’t worry. You have to park and walk in as Vegueta is pedestrianised. Google maps gets you to the door easily no big sign quite unassuming. We were dealt with at reception and offered a glass of champagne before being shown our room. Rooms are impeccably clean and everything you could need is provided. You can walk everywhere easily and there are some fantastic restaurants just around the corner . One in particular La Dolce Vita is amazing. We caught the local bus to Las Canteras for the day which was ok for a walk along the front. Overall we loved our stay. If I had any criticism it would be check in and breakfast could be a little more relaxed . Turn up the music a tad so people talk sounds ridiculous but couples whispering was a bit strange . And yes the bathrooms do require you to be very familiar with your traveling partner . Still we loved it x
Excellent, quiet, new hotel with nice rooms, great beds, and fast Wi-Fi. The hotel is near the center of Old Town, but there is hardly any street noise. Breakfast is excellent, and includes fresh-baked cakes and muffins. The "adults only" designation means only that -- no children allowed. Close to museums and other Old Town sites. Very friendly, helpful owner. One of my all-time favorites!
We chose The Cathedral mainly because of its central location. It certainly is in the heart of the historic centre of Las Palmas. All of the interesting sites of Vegueta (Santa Ana, Casa de Colon etc) are within easy walking distance. There are many bars and restaurants in very close proximity. In terms of location it can not be beat. The hotel, although in an old building, is very new. Everything is modern and clean. It is a small hotel with only a few rooms. Our room, Room A, was on the ground floor near the stairs (no lift) but there was no noise from any of the the other rooms or the stairs. The room was of a reasonable size for a short stay with enough space for storing our stuff. The shower and bathroom were each in separate alcoves separated from the rest of the room by opaque glass panels. The shower room was superb with abundant hot water. The bathroom took a bit of getting used to. The small fridge was kept stocked with bottled water. Breakfast, a selection of cold meats, bread and croissants, was excellent. Each morning the main fare was supplemented with other delicacies. The manager was very helpful in providing information and making recommendations about where to eat. We would certainly recommend the hotel to anyone who wanted a comfortable stay in heart of the old town.
This new, stylish hotel is ideally situated right in the heart of the charming old town in a peaceful little street just round the corner from the cathedral. All the staff are really welcoming and helpful. One even came with us to show us the way to the car park which is only a couple of minutes away but not that easy to find in the one way system. We were given a much needed glass of cava on arrival and there were more complimentary drinks in our room. The hotel manager was excellent, with a real eye for detail and excellent English. He advised us on places to see every morning and we took up a lot of his suggestions. In the old town itself the cathedral has its own excellent art museum and there is another really interesting museum on Christopher Columbus at the Casa Museo de Colón. Further afield, we particularly liked the botanical gardens, Jardín Botánico Canario Viera y Clavijo in Tafira Alta (wear sensible shoes as it is on a hillside), and visit the restaurant at the top entrance when you have climbed back up the hill. We also loved the Casa-Museo Tomás Morales situated in his old house in Moya. There are some beautiful art nouveau exhibits among his personal possessions. You need to hire a car to get to these and to the best beaches which are in the south of the island but it is not expensive and the motorways are good. The weather was great, if anything hotter than we were expecting, sunny and dry despite it being mid October.
