The hotel location was important to us, because we were travelling from Dublin to Portlaoise on the train. It was an easy five minute walk from the station. Everything was very convenient. The hotel lobby is quite welcoming, but the actual rooms need to be updated. Old beds, old furniture (not antique) and a very old-fashioned tv. The bathroom had been upgraded, which was nice. I think the management are concentrating on catered parties and not paying too much attention to the rooms. All in all, the hotel worked out for us, we were just there for three nights.
