We were last week in Villa Vikin Lanzarote. The hotel has a very good service and good food and rooms. A nice swimming pool and jacuzzi in a lovely garden in a quiet surrounding. It is a very good hotel for couples without children.
This lovely little 19 roomed villa is tucked away in an affluent residential area. It is tastefully decorated with lovely furnishings This was a last minute holiday as we had a bad experience with a secret escape holiday that ended up being cancelled 5 days before travel. Fate was definitely on our side ! We have 2/3 holidays a year and believe me I am as fussy as they come! Difficult to please! So on reading some of the existing reviews about the hotel not being up to 4 star standards and food not being good, I had some anxieties! However please do not take notice as this was definitely not the case. Food is fresh and prepared/cooked to a high standard! The staff here are amazing! They go out of their way to help. Belfa, Angie, Stefano, Alexandre and Hiro, all really lovely including the cleaning staff and even the handymen are helpful. Our room had a walk in wardrobe and the bathroom was lovely! The balcony though was amazing. We had a hot tub, sun loungers and views to die for. The hotel proves bikes so we took advantage of this and went cycling most days to playa Honda along the cycle path that goes all the way along the coast. Lovely tapas bars and restaurants facing the sea. Also went to Puerto Del Carmen old town and ate in the lovely restaurants overlooking the harbour. The icing on the cake was the 2 other couples we met up with. Doug, Pat, Captain Frank and Pirate Lolly! We had a fab time with lovely company and good wine! I don't usually visit the same place twice but this is one place I will look forward to returning to !!
Stayed at Villa Vik for a week in September. Great location, near to the airport. The staff told us wrongly that no buses ran from near the hotel - they do!! So, money wasted on taxis. The room was lovely. Surroundings were lovely. But not 5 star or even 4 star by any stretch of the imagination. Poor service - many of the staff don't understand English. So you can expect to re-order meals 2 or 3 times. Especially at breakfast time. Poor quality of food - a previous review said 'boil in the bag' meals. We would agree with that. Dinner menu - the menu is displayed each day. You can ignore that as either the dish has been taken off the menu by evening or the meal bears no resemblance to what's on the menu. The staff just laugh when they tell you the menu has changed (again). Bar service - again, you can expect to re-order more than once as many of them the staff don't understand English. Sun loungers - very tired and very uncomfortable. Also very few parasols around the pool. Lots of flies too. Atmosphere - none. Everyone disappears. Probably as the service is so bad. All credit to Angie and Stephan who tried really hard to please. Not recommended.
Stayed for 10 nights. Food very poor, ate out in Arrecife most nights after rejecting half board. staff attitude poor. Said they were too busy for room service on 25th wedding anniversary. Created a poor atmosphere through the stay. Will not stay again or recommend.
The Villa Vik is a superb small Hotel with excellent facilities and staff at all levels. Everyone we encountered had a smile and a greeting for us throughout our stay. The restaurant we would highly recommend, the menu is restricted but the food of your choice is excellently cooked and presented.
Lovely environment but let down by inedible food and poor service. We tried the evening meal twice and it was inedible boil in the bag - flavourless. We ate out in fabulous restaurants in arrecife for the rest of our ten night stay. We asked if we could have room service for breakfast on our 25th wedding anniversary but we're told the team were too busy to do room service. My husband went downstairs and got a tray of fruit and cheese together and brought it up to our room. The villa itself is beautiful but let down by poor quality food and poor service. There are better hotels in Arrecife- this is a poor three star hotel at best
If your wealthy friends left you the keys to their luxury villa for the week, that's what Villa Vik is like. It's peaceful, quiet, tranquil with fantastic service 24/7. If you want to completely have the feel of having the place to yourself, no kids running around, no loud music, great pool, spacious, clean suites and your own Jacuzzi; this is the place for you. It has a minimal staff (which I found perfectly adequate). I took the half-board option: the breakfast is lovely and freshly made. Dinner and lunch is perfectly fine and very well prepared with fresh ingredients. This best thing about this place? You will feel like you have the place to yourself! There are only 19 rooms. The pool area has a fantastic Jacuzzi and the pool area is set out with plenty of private areas for shade or sun bathing. There's a fully-stocked bar for cocktails throughout the day. It's quiet and so very clean: they serviced my room twice a day! Big fluffy towels and comfortable beds. Each room has a terrace or balcony. The only thing I would say it the pillows are a little uncomfortable. The staff are excellent. Like friends you have come to visit. This hotel is PERFECT for single travelers and couples. If you want bars and nightlife it's only a 20 minute walk, 5 minutes in a taxi or cycle to either Playa Honda or Arrecife. AND it's only 15 minutes from the airport. I'm definitely coming back whenever I need a quick sun-soaked holiday for four days. Highly recommended.
Peaceful quiet and extremely tranquil small hotel in an upmarket area about twenty minutes walk from Arreciffe town . Our only grumble in the past has been about the food, which was OK but not to 5 star standard. Food was very much improved on this trip. Still a bit of a limited choice i.e. one meat and one fish option for main course at dinner but exceptionally good cooking was in evidence. Our trip was not grumble with failing air con requiring a room change and indicating some upgrading is needed but the exceptionally friendly and helpful staff Franchesca and Rosa in particular, made us smile and some lovely cocktails.
This a truly brilliant little hotel. The staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. The rooms are well appointed - even the groundfloor rooms. They all face North so the stay cool throughout the day. Don't worry about sun on the terrace there are lots of little "rooms" in the garden for privacy. This is a small, Chic hotel aimed at adult couples so don't expect a lively entertainment. The food is excellent - table d'hote menu is limited - but the service and preparation is superb. The Vik Cab Sauv Carmenere is a really tasty HEAVY red wine but delicious. The white wines from Lanzarote are also pretty good if very dry. There is a walk/cycle route all the way along the coast and we used this to get into Arrecife (best beaches) and to Play Honda (best bars). There is Bus Stop at the top of the road going into Arrecife but we didn't use it. If you want to go to Teguise for the Sunday Market get up early and get the L13 at 9:40 from the closest Bus Terminal in Arrecife (20 min walk). There are also number buses that go to the Cesar Manrique Foundation from the main Bus Terminal to Teguise. All fares are VERY affordable 1.80 for most journeys. We went to Teguise on a Friday and if you remember old fashioned sleepy Spanish Towns then this is still the same. We popped into Bodega Sta.Barbara for a coffee - what a great little place to eat - not particularly prepossessing from the outside but really nice inside. Similarly - the Star City bar at the top (17th floor) of the Gran Hotel in Arrecife is well worth the visit. Incredible views, good service, a little expensive.
This is a wonderful quite and individual 14 bedroom hotel for individuals who want peace and quite relaxing holiday and of course child free. Only 10 minutes from the airport and the same time to Accecife along with a wonderful flat walk way at the bottom of the road which leads to Accecife or Porto Del Carmen the other way. The staff are absolutely wonderful and a special thank to Belfa for making our break extra special. They have good size ground floor rooms for people with mobility problems and bigger suites upstairs further more the food for the evenings was excellent with plenty of choices for everyone or the were only to happy to accommodate your individual needs. Also they did a wonderful breakfast with plenty of choices both hot and cold dishes. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel for couples and we cannot wait to return again.
