I stayed in this hotel for a week and I would never go back!! The rooms were very basic, I booked for 3 people and when booking it stated that the capacity was for 4 people, but when we got there it was 2 single beds pushed together with no air conditioning… I tried for 2 nights but after having no sleep I contacted the reception and they informed me that I could have a fan for 28 euro fee which I paid for, I requested an extra bed as they expected one of us to sleep on a 30 year old wooden chair with a thin mattress. Do not expect to sleep past 7 am as the cleaners have no regards towards the guest or how early it is, they stand outside the window shouting and gossiping not to mention their trolley sound like plane engines. We decided to go to the Rancho Texas waterpark and I booked at the reception and I was told that the coach would be picking us up at 9.30, I look at the brochures and it stated that the bus would be passing at 10.40 am so I went to ask again at reception and he assured me that the bus would be picking us up at 9.30, after waiting for an hour with my 6 year old child under the baking sun I called the reception and he informed me that the bus would be in fact be passing at 10.40 am and offered no apology for his mistake. Staff were rude and could definitely do with some customer service training. There were cockroaches everywhere and there were no sunbeds as all the Germans had already taken all the sunbeds. There was absolutely no entertainament for adults and for the children there was a disco that lasted about 15-20 minutes Very disappointing holiday, I will now stay clear of Lanzarote as a whole!!!

If your looking for a luxury self catering apartments then this is not for you, but the place is clean and comfortable apartments are cleaned regular. Kids are entertained throughout the day by the same person who happens to be the lifeguard. Food is served until 4pm at the pool bar. Don't waste your money buying inflatables for the pool as there not allowed. It is what's is it's nice place just over the road from the beach. Personally I would come back here again with the kids.

I would like to say I have emailed the property twice since returning and still have not had a reply... This was our second visit to the Costa mar so we were aware of how basic it was but to be honest our kids are just 6 and 4 years so do not need expect to much. We first checked in to a 2 bedroom apartment which again was very basis and covered all our needs. After the first morning we discovered ants constantly everywhere we went. We decided to let it go and kids had fun getting rid of them for mam. We done our very best to make sure no food was left out and dishes where cleaned and put away to prevent them coming back. (We reported this on this day to reception along with one of the rings on the hob blowing the flush each time it was turned on). The next morning I woke to find more ants and all over my boys clean dishes in the press. I was horrified. I ran straight to reception to ask to move which the reception was only to happy to assist. The downfall was we had to wait until at least until 12/1 until it was ready. I then had to return to the apartment and repack all our things and wait. We got the second the apartment and it was ok..smaller shower with black stuff washing off the tiles each time we showered. Over all the apt felt like it needed a good clean and they seem to forget the balcony. The previous guests cigarette butts were still on it. I was not repacking so I decided to stay put. With regards to the entertainment it was minimal and you can really see the cut backs. Kids club last year was 8pm now it's 5pm this dosent really suit many as kids are either still enjoying the pool, getting ready to go out for their dinner or possibly having a late nap. Nothing really on in the evenings and no hope to get a night cap before bed (We tried at 11.30pm). I'm really disappointed to find that no apology was made even something like lunch on them while waiting on our apt would have been nice. Although the poor side bar man is no more interested in being their. I'm in the hospitality industry myself and understand people save so hard to get their holiday at least once a year. Unfortunately Costa mar was very disappointing for me this year.

Great Stay and great Apartment/Hotel. We were on ground floor so watch out for the Cockroaches. Pool/Pool bar Great. Beach 300 meters away All in all We would come back The Spa shop is ok not the milk

Great location close to lovely sandy beaches. Not too close to really busy and lively areas, but close enough for a short walk if you want to go there. Apartment was basic but everything was there that we needed. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Stayed at th Costa Mar June 2017. Apartment itself good size, beds comfortable. Towels changed regularly. Sheets changed but not pillowcases. Balcony never swept or table cleaned very very dusty. Snack bar at pool a joke, because this was an Aparthotel assumed food and service would be good, food just ok, service dreadful. Waiter didn't come to you, had to keep going up to counter whenever we needed anything and nine times out of ten, he wasn't there! We were on third floor of block D and there was nobody around to help with luggage understand that most apartments in Lanzarote are low rise but we had to carry cases up thre flights of stairs not easy!

We had a two bedroom apartment. Located in block F. View of the pool and near the little play park which has a slide and swings and some buckets and spades to play in the sand. The apartment was a great size. Two decent sized bedrooms. Two decent outside terraces with tables and chairs. Living space was also a decent size. It just all needs a bit of updating. New curtains and furniture and a lick of paint and a good clean. Pool area is lovely. Plenty of sun beds. Location is ideal. Beach across the road. Spar shop and restaurants on your door step. It was very quiet at nighttime. No disturbances apart from one crazy lady upstairs. But you could meet her anywhere. Over all if they spent some money modernising what they have it would be great.

We arrived at the hotel in the evening time, where we received a very friendly welcome from the gentleman manning reception. Check-in was quick. He was pleased to inform us that our request for a high floor apartment with a sea view had been fulfilled, excellent start! He gave us a run down of the facilities and finished by advising us that if we wanted any water or things from the local shops then we'd need to be quick as they were closing soon; we have been to Lanzarote more times than we can remember so we're very familiar with this, however, very helpful for anyone visiting for the first time who likely wouldn't know. Really nice, helpful touches. The same gentleman stepped outside to point out where our apartment was located, we then made our own way and found it with ease. Apartment numbers are prefixed by letter (block) then apartment number, it's a fairly large complex but this system works well for helping you find your way. Now we cannot complain because we requested a high floor apartment, but there aren't any lifts and the stairs were steep and a killer in the heat! In hindsight, practicality might have overridden our desire for a nice view. Just something to bear in mind! The apartment itself was massive, our balcony was however very small compared to others on lower floors. We had just about enough room for a few chairs and a table, others had sun loungers. Bear in mind the hotel do not market rooms in separate categories so it seems to be very luck of the draw, so if you have a preference, then email ahead. We completely self catered, cooked a couple of breakfasts in the apartment but we otherwise ate out. A single pot and a pan were provided but they were of quite poor quality, and not non stick. Cooking a meal would have been a challenge. Check out time is 11:00am, we enquired about the possibility of a late check-out due to a late flight departure but we had the sign on reception stating the check-out time thrust at us and told they need the room. Ok, fair enough. We had a late flight though and we were willing to pay. There was no sign of any housekeeping in any proximity to the room when we checked-out and when we came back several hours later. If they don't offer it then they don't offer it, but it seems short sighted that if they're leaving rooms empty and uncleaned for hours on end then if people are willing to pay to keep a room on then this could be something they could make some easy money on. A good stay overall.

Just home from spending 7 nights in the Costa Mar. We stayed self-catering, apartments were spotless with a lovely porch at the front. Apartments have everything you need including forks, knives, kettle, microwave and pots/pans. The pool was only a very short walk from the apartment. We had 2 children aged 9 and 11 with us and they spent most of their day in the pool. It was clean and modern with plenty of sun loungers. The lifeguard was great craic, all the kids loved him. His walk reminded me of Jim Carey. Reception staff were very welcoming and helpful. It's in a great location!! 10 mins left brings you to Matagorda and 20 mins walk to the left brings you to Newtown. There's a lovely shop you can rent bikes from at the front for a reasonable price. Whilst in Lanzarote we did the Short South tour (camel ride optional), interacted with sealions in Rancho Texas and cycled a 4 seater bike to Matagorda. Not forgetting the beach is directly across the road. All in all we had a great holiday in the Costa Mar and we're looking forward to coming back next year. Came home to rain and wind in Ireland today, wishing I had booked an extra couple of nights!

Simple but good appartment. Friendly staff, of you need something or there is something wrong they help you right away. Rooms are clean and the supermarket is right around the corner. The same for the beach, just cross the street
