Can't believe that they are incapable of travelling training staff how to use a coffee machine. In the end just stopped asking as it was getting embarrassing. The fact that the staff just said ye will ask someone and just continued to serve other people. Not the standard I would expect.
Access from the M65 is easy and quick. The building is imposing and reception was good. To get to our room we had to first go up a few flights of stairs (Which were quite grand) but then we had to go back down several flights of stairs to the ground floor at the rear of the hotel. We had the room at the end of the world. The room had a double bed and a bunk bed. Facilities were OK but those which you would expect in a 3 star hotel. The fire alarm went off in the early hours and we of course had to make our way to the assembly point. After perhaps half an hour we got the all clear. No explanation and non the next day. The bar staff were very pleasant and friendly. Parking is OK. The leisure facilities are welcome but the service there was less than good. Some people before me and therefore myself had a long wait to gain entry because there were no staff at the reception. The facilities themselves are better than some and worse than others. Adequate.
This is a lovely hotel, one of the best in the area. Very comfortable. Lovely staff. Fantastic breakfasts. Highly recommended as base the explore, the beautiful countryside or visit local attractions. There is plenty of car parking. It's handy for both Burnley and Colne / Nelson. You will need a car or of course you can walk.
The staff here are fantastic. Food good, amazing breakfast value Spa God with pool, 2 jacuzzi and steam room, plus a well fitted out gym which is large. Rooms vary according to category, but all good. A great place to base yourself for waking in Bowlan Forest and West York Dales. The main building is an old Mill Owners Mansion. Fantastic grounds. Visited from Caimbrudge on 5 occasions now. Will stay again.
Thank you to all the staff at the Oaks , especially Emma , who is sadly leaving. Our stay was as amazing as our Wedding day, the room, our meal in the evening and breakfast was excellant. We got swans on the bed and a btl of Prosecco was chilled waiting. 10/10 Looking forward to seeing you all again soon for my Sons wedding. Carole n Eric Wood
We stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights over the bank holiday weekend as we were attending the Rhythm and Blues festival in Colne. The reception staff were good and the room was comfortable. As others have mentioned, depending on which room you are in it can be a bit of an assault course to get too. The short cut to ours was through the entrance to the leisure centre, perhaps the staff could tell you this rather than have you drag your cases up hill and down dale to get to your room. A slight criticism is that there are not enough sockets in the room, these days many people have umpteen gadgets that need recharging so the availability of more power points would be good or maybe they could look into replacing the existing sockets with the ones that have the USB charging built in. Overall we were happy with our stay and shall more than likely be staying again next year.
Stayed here with my son, was really impressed with the hotel from the minute we arrived. Stunning building from the outside and the inside didn't fail to impress with the stunning staircase and stained glass windows. The staff were all lovely and very helpful, the room was clean, spacious and comfortable with a lovely view of the gardens. Breakfast was really nice, I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone!
Stayed here for a hen party attending a themed night put on by the hotel... Firstly on arrival I arrived after the rest of the girls and the reception staff seemed annoyed to help me find the girls and what room I was in, the lady on the spa desk was also rude and seemed elsewhere occupied with what seemed we're friends of hers. The room was clean as was the hotel grounds, rooms were nicely decorated too and spacious. The problem I had was that light came in at the angle the bed was at through the window waking you up. There was also lots of noise and shouting until early hours which I understand isn't the hotels fault but it seemed to go on forever and no staff seemed to intervene to stop an argument and banging that could be heard around the whole place. Food behind the bar was awful! And overpriced. I ordered a beef sandwich on white bloomer with horse radish mayo and red onion.. what I got was a slice of wafer thin beef from Asda on two slices of warbies bread with a blob of smart price mayo. I don't know we're the horseradish or red onion we're hiding... perhaps with the rest of the chips as there was only a small handful on the plate. We had each paid 25 for the evening entertainment which was a three course meal, and a night at the movies tribute act. The meal was ok a little dry and again lacking in portion size but for 25 all in with the entertainment I didn't think it was too bad. The entertainment was good but I'd say more episode of eastenders than night at the movies as I think they sang the majority of grease songs then went home it didn't seem to last long. The dj however was a great guy and did a good job of keeping the night going. As I shared a room I only paid half but I feel that was a fair price I wouldn't of paid 60 on my own it's defibatly overpriced
I'm currently still in the hotel after a bad nights sleep I was going to wait until I got home until I went to the bathroom and saw (see picture below). So the hotel reviews about the stairs are fully justifiable but it is a very old looking hotel and actually the lobby looks really nice. The room gives you a motel vibe (on the edge of route 66). The room we stayed in was like a boiler. The window barely opened but due to noise we couldn't leave it open anyway. We also had multiple bugs in the room including two giant moths. Again the window hasn't been open so how they got in, I have no idea. We had a dirty towel and behind the sofa hadn't been cleaned. All in all, I wouldn't recommend. This is my 3rd review of lavender hotels and none have been good. I've stayed in decent best western though. Looking forward to going home and having a shower!
Stayed as a last minute plan with my wife, hotel was lovely, a lot of history and the gym/pool facilities were excellent. Ate in the restaurant and the food was amazing and all the staff couldn't do enough to help us. Our room had everything we needed and had a lovely view of the gardens, was comfortable and clean. Would definitely recommend this hotel and looking forward to visiting again soon.
