New Lanark Mill Hotel & Self Catering Waterhouses

World Heritage Site Location

The hotel, located in a World Heritage site, is situated in a valley and the sound of the waterfalls can be heard from every room. We enjoyed the walk up the river and seeing the falcons. We were there in an heatwave (unusual for Scotland), so the room did get quite warm but found that closing the drapes helped a lot. The pool and health club, which had lots of natural light, were very clean and well equiped. The meals were excellent. The room was clean but is getting a bit dated as the hotel is now about 12 years old. A good way to visit would be to arrive early in the afternoon to tour the village site, (allow about 3 hours) then have a swim or hike before dinner at the hotel. Dumphries House (recently restored with Prince Charles' assistance) is nearby and well worth the visit. Families should definitely consider the self-catering option.

Station House

Clean, quiet and comfortable.

The host, Alan was great. We had a wonderful breakfast and conversation. The room and accommodations were excellent. Were given an great recommendation for the evening meal. Alan also made some suggestions of some things to see that we were not aware of and we thoroughly enjoyed the couple that we were able to fit into our plans. Highly recommended.

Holiday Inn Express Strathclyde Park M74 JCT 5

friendly staff

Clean hotel and staff were all very friendly, inviting and helpful. Only issue was there is no a/c which seems to be standard for the country, but it was a bit warm, Windows did open so we were able to cool off a bit at least.
