Had fantastic tower room which was lovely. Very friendly and helpful staff and good selection of options for breakfast. Lots of history to the hotel so ideal for those looking for a leisure break. Was only staying for one night, but sorry not to have longer to explore the hotel and grounds.
My friend and I had lunch at this beautiful hotel all I can say is we will be back Debbie the young lady who served us was a very nice and very polite with a lovely smile she was lovely. We were also impressed with Danielle the receptionist we asked her about the history of the hotel very helpful Beautiful hotel lovely staff and the food was amazing it was a lovely lunch thanks to all who made our day at cartlandbridge hotel
Stayed for a couple of nights in July 2017. Stayed on the top floor and it was a struggle carrying a heavy case all the way up. The hotel is clean and tidy but also outdated. My room 212 was very small and the looked very old. The wifi was good enough to stream and watch live tv. The restaurant food is good value for money, and the breakfast is made to order and well presented. Would stay again, the hotel does need to be made more modern though.
Nice hotel in a quiet setting. Polite and helpful staff ensure a pleasant stay. Superb full breakfast sets you up for the day. A short distance from Glasgow or Edinburgh by car with Lanark town just further up the road.
Set in its own grounds, at the end of its own drive and well away from the sound of traffic on the nearby main road. Old fashioned, Victorian decor, needing a wee bit of TLC here and there, but nothing to detract from it . . . if anything, it added to it. Our room was clean, neat, tidy and quite spacious, with lovely views over a wee gorge to the open fields beyond. No air-conditioning but both windows could be opened as needed, but N.B. NO safety devices to prevent accidental falling-out. Bathroom modern, shower over the bath. Only regret . . . no lift, so luggage had to be carried up a large, imposing staircase. Help is available. Plenty of safe parking (free) within the grounds. Restaurant menu not too extensive but did feature some local produce. Breakfast menu pretty standard but plenty of it if you're hungry. Friendly and helpful staff throughout, especially on Reception, but staff in the kitchen and waiting on table do need a bit more training in efficiency, i.e. speed things up!! Finally, the hotel's location is ideal as a base for touring the area.
As others have mentioned the exterior and drive up to the hotel is fabulous but that is where it ends. I stayed here from the 2nd to the 4th of June, the rooms were spacious and adequate for what we needed, However my daughters were attending a dance competition being held in the hotel and went down for breakfast on the first morning of our stay. It was a self service buffett however toast and eggs had to be ordered. We went to get cereal for the girls and there was no bowls, there was also no milk left, I went to grab a coffee and there was no cups, or coffee left, there was no juice glasses. The duty manager was the only person on serving, my friends were waiting 40 mins on their egg order and toast. Eventually when we saw the duty manager we asked for our order of eggs and toast and mentioned there was no cereal bowls, coffee, milk, cups, juice glasses ect. As he was on his own trying to serve three tables this was unacceptable. I went to reception nobody there. Came back got our eggs and they were stone cold. Then i saw a bucket left beside my table with left over slops in it. We got up and left and complained to another manager as the duty manager was clearly overwhelmed with the amount of complaints. There were not terribly bothered but took off the price of the breakfast from our bill. We had no time to feed our children before they danced that mornng! I ordered lasagne from the dinner menu later that day, lets just say it was basically layers of pasta and sauce and no meat. On Saturday night I was woken by a very loud noise which sounded like pipes or heating or something, I left it for about half an hour as I thought it would eventually stop then my daughters woke so I called reception. The porter came up and agreed it was very loud and said he would have a look, he came back up saying he couldnt find out what the problem was and was very sorry and he would explain to the reception the following day and I would be reimbursed for the inconvenience. The noise was gone about 30 mins later as he found out it was the hot water pipes. The following morning on checkout I explained that we were up for 2 hours during the night and I didn't as much as get a sorry. Its a real pity that the reception staff let this hotel down. we travelled as part of a group of 15 and it was a disaster. This hotel has the potential to be a great hotel but the food and staff really let it down.
What a surprise when we drove into Cartland Bridge Hotel, beautiful building. room was very clean, and fresh, lovely views, staff we very attentive . We had a meal in the evening which was very good. a trip to New Lanark and a walk along the Clyde to the water fall was great.
If you are looking for a great location with character as a base for exploring the Clyde Valley and surrounding area then this is for you. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, staff friendly and courteous, and the breakfast excellent (cooked to order). Clyde Valley, Glasgow and Edinburgh all within easy reach.
Beautiful hotel set in fantastic tranquil grounds. Room and bed was comfortable. Hotel has 18 rooms and was quiet whilst I stayed but, that added a kind of charm to my stay. Staff were attentive and knew the history of the building and previous owners. Lovely town and walks all nearby. Great stay, would call again.
Spent a night at the hotel for a wedding. The room was clean and had everything that u could need. All of the staff from check in to check out were fantastic. Food was also lovely. Also a great location.
