Nice building with traditional interior and friendly staff. The rooms are dated which I can forgive if they are clean. However house keeping clearly only clean around furniture. My alarm clock was flashing and broken and my only way of switching it off was to pull out the bedside table and un plug from the socket. Clearly that hadn’t been done for many a long time and it was thick with dust. I also draped my towel over the bathroom radiator and that was retrieved with dust the reason for which became clear when you saw behind the radiator. These things could be easily put right.
Stayed here when back home for a funeral. We were given a fabulous room and staff were all very friendly and welcoming. We were too tired to go out for dinner so ordered room service. Food came quickly and was freshly cooked and hot and beautifully presented with everything we needed. Breakfast is served in the hotel’s beautiful Portrait Room and cooked to order. Their “big breakfast “ is indeed a feast but was thoroughly enjoyed by my husband. I had smoked salmon with mushrooms and scrambled eggs on a bagel and it was yummy!
We stayed over a week-end in a large family group and had a pretty good time in this comfortable old hotel which has benefited from investment in furnishings and fittings which make our stay very enjoyable. The hotel is warm and easy on the eye throughout. There are a couple of cosy bars and all of our party were happy with the bedrooms apart from one couple who felt theirs was a little on the small side. Our dinner was served in a private dining room which was set out very nicely and was really great for our family get together. The only downside was that we were a little distance from the kitchen and it wasn't easy for the serving staff to deliver each course simultaneously to each of our party meaning that there was a bit of awkwardness with different people waiting several minutes before their meal arrived. The hotel might want to think about having a heated serving trolley to deliver the food and then serve it more quickly. Warming the plates might also help. The meals themselves were generously proportioned and perfectly satisfactory. Breakfast was about par for the course though we felt the dining room was a bit short-staffed and it would have been nicer if the management had thought to give us a single larger table for our group rather than spread across three different tables. Being slightly short-staffed meant that plates weren't cleared promptly and our tables got a bit cluttered. Again this is perhaps something for management rather than the staff who were pleasant and helpful throughout.
My room was hot. I mean, really hot. The window didn't open: the staff tried, but apparently didn't know how to open it. They gave me a fan, which blew the air around and made sleeping there sort-of manageable. This obviously coloured all my stay. Also, the dinner menu is not inspirational, and I ate elsewhere on my second night there. The staff people to whom I spoke were polite and nice - but that didn't make up for the rest of the experience. Non of this was their fault. I'm unlikely to stay there again.
We only stayed here one night but would love to return. Our room was beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean. We enjoyed an excellent meal in the bar and a good breakfast. The service was good, especially in the bar and reception.
This was our second time of staying at Cartland Bridge Hotel this year, Again the staff were wonderful, beautifully clean rooms, The hotel is stunning, I have an allergy and the staff were great at sorting my food. Breakfast was excellent, and I was delighted that food was served on hot plates which a lot of hotels and B&Bs forget. Cartland Bridge was an excellent base for us visiting the Falkirk Wheel, and the Kelpies,
Arrived on off chance that they may have a room available for the night, and they had and we looked at this marvellously big spacious room with a huge bed which was extremely comfortable and lovely bay windows which looked onto garden/carpark, it was very luxurious and not over priced. It was a stately home and oozed class! We had our evening meal in the hotel which was fantastic, as was the big breakfast, the food was perfectly cooked, presented and tasted delicious. The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly especially the receptionist who could not have been nicer and answered any questions we had with knowledge. We thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay and would recommend this hotel to friends and family who were looking for somewhere within easy reach of Glasgow/Edinburgh but did not want the hassle of the city. 1st class! Would definately stay again if in the area.
Beautiful building in lovely garden. Room was so good with big comfy bed. Like staying in a stately home. Did not have dinner there but breakfast was fantastic all freshly cooked. Staff friendly and helpful. Only gripe was someone started cutting grass very early but it was a Monday morning. Very good value
Well, the first impression of this hotel is rather special, turning off the main road onto the drive under the cover of the rich mixture of evergreen and deciduous trees the hotel appears and looks fantastic. The hotel is kept I assume intentionally with an aged feel, the decor is quite grand but old. The rooms are also old in the decor but have always been clean with comfortable beds and plenty of space. The restaurant has a limited menu but the food quality is good, I would probably say it is a little pricey. The staff have always been great and the breakfast is fantastic. If you can get this hotel at a good price it's a nice little base to explore Lanark and the surrounding area.
Very old and dated hotel, we requested a bed change as ours was broken, then we requested another duvet as we need to lie on the given one due to hard bed, this was thrown at us when then the attendant entered my room without knocking. The room was dirty and the bathroom was not the cleanest. We were moved to another room the following morning which was slightly better but still required cleaning! Breakfast was the worst we have ever eaten. It had clearly sat underneath the pass for a good 30mins, as the beans were dried to the plate, the egg, sausage and bacon were dried out and you could play Frisbee with the potato bread. Again this was questioned and we were met with the rudest duty manager who informed us it was freshly cooked! Everything is freshly cooked at some point! We didn't attend breakfast the following morning! We also spoke to several guests at the hotel who were equally disappointed in the hotel and had requested room changes. Completely ruined the wedding we were there to attend as we had no sleep the night before. We spoke with the hotel manager Ashley who agreed to refund the breakfasts (which we received) and to refund the first nights stay. To date we are still awaiting the refund! She is now no longer accepting our calls and we have just called again and spoke with the duty manager who put the phone down on my partner when we asked who Ashley's manager is! Would never stay here again and would never recommend anyone stay here.
