Stayed a night. Pros: Great location - close to the lake. Dog friendly. Cons: Shady looking, dilapidated. Too expensive for the low end facilities.

The location is convenient walking distance to the Lake and a few restaurants and about a mile to the Heavenly Gondola and California Lodge. Dog friendly, free sparse breakfast. Room was just ok, old school CRT TV but had plenty of channels on cable, was fine for a couple of nights, facilities are in dire need of work and upgrade, pool was scary looking but it could be because it was winter and the laundry facilities were broken.

i had 628 room, best for view. very dirty and filfy place tho. shower is sucks, problem with a parkings (not enough) dont want to stay there again.... pictures are to good then in real life... usually I dont write a reviews but this time was an exception lol. good luck..... they take no early then 2:30pm

Was a pleasant stay. Would stay there again. The room was clean. Needs to have more outlets to plug things into.

Very easy & convenient to walk to restaurants & stores, easy access for transportation. But hotel facility is not that great, I expected better from Howard Johnson, being a well know chain. Also breakfast room is too small & was a mess when there was more than one group trying to get breakfast, besides the food was running out fast & the front office said she's by herself & was busy at the front, to help with bringing us coffee or any food (it was more than one morning, they would run out of everything by 8:30 a.m, while breakfast hours are over by 9:30 am (which is the norm, usually others extend it till 10:00 am, when it's a summer vacation destination!!)

Overall, I expected more from a Howard Johnsons, but maybe I'm just ignorant to their standards. The rooms were VERY plain and small, but everything worked. It looks like they should have remodeled 20 years ago. It is functional and adequate, but I would put it on par with a stay I had at a lower0end chain motel. I would NOT recommend this for families...more of a place to crash than a place to stay and enjoy yourself.

I booked this room because I needed a place to sleep and shower. The room it self was OK, just a bit dated. The bathroom, especially the shower left a lot to be desired. The shower stall was very small, the shower head was at about chest level and the water pressure was not strong. The room did serve the intended purpose and the price was reasonable.

This hotel is old and in need of repairs and upgrades. Can't remember the last time I watched a non-HD tv. The towels were few and not very nice. We asked for an extra towel and the front desk told us to get one from housekeeping instead of just giving us a towel for the shower.

Location was perfect to all the action and the lake.it was quiet inside the room even though there was a lot of things going on outside. Staff was efficient and always trying to help.

Good place to stay for a quick trip to the snow. Breakfast had very minimal selections. Don't expect extravagence..

This was a pretty OK motel. It's a bit old but great location right off the main road. Best part is it's next to Heidi's and the motel gives you a coupon for it.

great value for money. Basic amenities available and is conveniently located from the Heavenly gondola ride.

The location is good, room is spacious, restaurant are available at walking distance; close to the Lake. Had a flat tire at the hotal and get the help from the front desk. Price is reasonable, and will choose for my next visit.

The location is good. The mattress was a old and uncomfortable. If you are staying for more than one night they refold the dirty towels and hang them back up. We checked out early, even though I had paid for the room. We stayed at a different hotel.

Nice, clean place at a good location to the Lake and the Casinos

Good value, clean rooms and courteous staff. Check it out!

If you are looking for value, space, and comfort, this is a good choice for you. I stayed here with my friend on a snowboarding trip during the weekend. it was a convenient location and very close to both heavenly and sierra at tahoe.

I spent one night here...it was very clean and comfortable with a friendly lady at the front desk. I had no problem finding parking and breakfast was included. The bed was nice and kind of firm and the towels were good. Only negatives were no fruit or water for breakfast, older tv, and small bathroom.

We very much liked our accommodations. The location was perfect and we had a restaurant right next door. The room was clean and liked that it was quiet at night.

Having gone during the winter, comfort was a priority! The heater in our room worked great and plenty of water for hot showers! The bed was more comfortable then other hotels I have stayed! Yes the continental breakfast is a total drag, store bought donuts, toasts, cereal, coffee and juice, but it was great to grab on the way to hitting the slopes. They also have a great breakfast restaurant next door we enjoyed one day! All we had to do was walk to the front of the hotel to catch the shuttle to the slopes and casino. It was nice staying about 2 miles from all the hustle and bustle because we were able to just relax! The staff was extremely helpful and friendly! Yes the cost was a little steap but so is everything else in South Lake! The last night we were there it snowed and we could here the slow plow drive back and forth all night and there was a concert so people were coming in and out all night but we need our roads cleared and other people are on vacation as well! :)

Thank you for your review. I am so sorry that your experience was not above expectations. I am working hard to resolve the issues with the staff and the quality of our rooms. I hope you will consider staying with us again and see what we have done. Thank you, Philis Byrd Mgr.
