Very satisfied, nice place in the city center. Easy to arrive and very good restaurants nearby. Harbor area and lake Saimaa nice views and sunset. Shopping center is also located side by side the hotel.
This is a kind of 'standard finnish hotel'. Nothing special to write home about, but it has clean rooms suitable for staying for a nigt or two. The beds are comfortable, aircon works, the breakfast is good and the location is in the city center area. In some rooms the views from window is not worth opening the curtains. Conveniently close to a shopping mall and large parking area downstairs. I definitely recommend if you get a decent price offer. I stay here a night or two once a year when visiting Lappeenranta.
The location of the hotel is okay, maybe not great for a small town but very acceptable. On the other hand, the attached shopping mall is very nice. Also, hotel Lappee has its own parking cellar that is really good because you can park the car for a full 24 hours for just EUR 8,-. The central roof courtyard is good for giving light in, but it is ugly in a legendary way with the gravel and small grass... jokingly called a "Riad, Finnish way"... no offence :-) . We found with my wife that breakfast was average chain standard, although well arranged and staffed.
When travelling in Finland I usually use the sokos hotel chain because the hotels are usually good standart, well located and value for money. This one was an exception. The rooms need an update and the cleanness was not good. We stayed one night in the superior room which was in the old part I quess. Room definitely was not superior, economy I would rather say. Very worn and the bathroom was very tiny, the size usually seen in the ships. Coffee spoons were dusty, climps of hair in the shower room and piece of bread in front of the bed when entering the room. Would not recommend. But if you are going would suggest to book a renovated new room. The superior is not worth the extra pay.
You know what you get. I asked for a quiet room, and boy did I get one. Had to walk "for a mile" to get the last room in the corridor! Difficult to find the breakfast room, and impossible to get in, should you have paid your room already.
A high quality hotel wiht a good location. Everything else was very good,, but the WiFi was a bit slow. The breakfast was excellent, and the personnel was friendly. Unfortunately I didn't have time to test the gym and the sauna.
The Hotel Lappee tries hard to get out from under being an anonymous chain hotel, beginning with the life-sized effigy of a Finnish dragoon in its lobby. The hotel is cunningly integrated into the IsoKristiina shopping mall, so that you need only tke a few steps from the coffee shop to find yourself in a fully appointed shopping centre. "No coats required!" announced the pretty receptionist, which is not to be sniffed at when it's minus five outside. Of course, nobody comes to a hotel to shop for Persil, but when its raining outside, the ease of access to bookstores and the Alko is much appreciated. Food in the Italian restaurant is surprisingly classy, and the breakfast buffet went that extra mile with local delicacies like some kind of crazy fruit juice made with rhubarb, and potato bread.
Hotel is at city centre and beside of new shopping centre Iso Kristiina where hotel have inside entry. I have visited this hotel couple of times on last 6 months and I have always had room from new side (in building of shopping centre). These rooms are on very god shape and comfortable ones. I got premium bonus card on january so on last time I got upgrade frm superior room to Junior suite. That was very nice room especially if is travelling with family. Two televisions, one at living room and one on bed room. There is posibility to park on shopping centres warm parking lot or at hotel's own cold parking lot. Parking lot of shopping centre is more expensive than parking lot of hotel. But just little bit. Only bad is that you need to pay separate parking fee if you need to leave parking lot during evening or night and it can be more expensive than if you keep your car there all night. Hotel's own parking lot is old and there is very small places for cars of this day. Other bad thing is that some park places are on place that is impossible to reach or leave if there is cars parked on both side if they have parked straight. If they are nice people and had noticed that this car has bad place they park their cars so that park place is possible to leave. Some places this means that several people needs to notice this and park little bit wrong way. I use this parking place only if there is plenty of room and I don't need to park on those park places. There is couple of restaurants at shopping centre where you can use benefits of hotel bonus card but only one of those which has food which I like is expensive. I normally walk to middle city centre where is couple of restaurants also where I can use these benefits.
Room was clean, but given the hotel's configuration is that of a square with sort of a courtyard in center, our room was down around the bend, and so far from the elevators, it was quite difficult for someone like myself with a bad leg and cane. The bed was not very comfortable, and a double was quite small for two full size adults. It would be better to get the two single beds and push them together. Room was never cleaned during our stay, so no fresh towels, and bed was still unmade when we came back in the evening. We had left around 1pm, and only put the "do not disturb" sign up from 11-12:30 while we showered and got ready to leave. Restaurant for breakfast is across the way in the shopping mall, so make sure you're not in your slippers. Food was sub par - watery eggs; greasy bacon; overcooked meatballs; and if you like bread and butter you'll be okay.
Receptionists were helpful and friendly. Good location and parking place (don't forget to pay on arrival and put the receipt in car). Baby cot, teapot is available. Good wi-fi connection. Room was clean, but absolutely not fresh, old-fashion furniture. For 4 stars hotel room need renovation. A lot of people on the breakfast , breakfast is absolutely usual (the porridge is uneatable).
