The Post Hotel in Weggis is a nice enough hotel that would benefit from some updating. Rooms are spacious and many have good views across the lake but the decor is tired and the interior fels like it needs a bit of love. The staff are helpful and the breakfasts are very good but eating lunch or dinner in the hotel is expensive and the food is average. Having said that, eating out in this area is generally pricey.
You can step off the boat and fall into the hotel and the cable car to access Rigi-Kaltbad is only ~10 minutes away. The room had an amazing lake view. Breakfast was both a buffet with some nice cooked options which was very good start to the day. The only problem was the style over substance with dark corridors leading to confusingly designed rooms. This started with the bathroom and although everything worked there was a large glass panel instead of a wall which in itself was strange. However the large mirror which was opposite it meant that the could have a shower or be on toilet and see yourself. Like too many trendy or boutique hotels the lighting was more atmospheric than useful. Whenever we travel we like to keep up with the news from the UK however there was no English language channels (not even CNN or Bloomburg) We had major problems with the bed as the slats failed after the first night. When we went out we informed reception and they said it would be sorted out by the time we came back. Upon getting back from our day we were told that housekeeping/maintenance had changed the bed. This should have sorted out the problem but it wasn't until the next morning that we realised they had done nothing. Basically it was the old bed with them putting the broken slats in upside down. Therefore when I moved I fell through the hole which was more embarrassing than painful. When we went for our breakfast I told the same receptionist as on the previous morning and he was genuinely annoyed that he had been mislead by his work colleagues. All of the staff we dealt were efficient and effective and also friendly despite the potential language difficulties If the housekeeping and style over substance was dealt with I'd recommend this hotel but currently can't.
Location was perfect, Hotel was nice but nothing special, other guests were so so but as usual the icing is on the cake. After an incident in which my travel companion did not notice the sliding window was closed, yes windows were perfectly clean, he walked right in to it shattering it completely. We called the staff and they talked about the expenses which might be logical. After all you feel kind of guilty when destroying somebodies property by accident. What was not logical was the exorbitant price for this window (1500CHF) but they claimed this was a standard amount to be reserved on the credit card and would be released once the insurance would settle the payment. Two days after we left the full amount was deducted from my credit card and from then on (2nd op September) we are in a constant struggle to get in to contact with the person responsible. We are not helped at all and we hear all the time that the manager is not available. When we are really persistent we are able come in to contact with him sometimes. He tells us different stories but no invoice is received till this point. I trusted them since they initially looked like a decent hotel but at this point I am concerned to have become a victim of a second method of them to earn money besides their primary business. Since the deducted amount for the damage is over 10-fold of the hotel costs we had, you might assume this business model is even more lucrative. I am very distressed about the hotel and will not rest until I have my money back. The next step is to inform the police about this which I will after the deadline passes next Friday. Be wary!!!
This hotel is trying to be hip and misses by a long shot. Funky neon lights, dark purple and black themed public area - may be for some tastes, not mine. But the location on the Lake and the views are awesome. And that's it. The balconies are situated so that the guests' smoke below us wafted into out open balcony door. So we closed it - and the small air conditioning unit on the wall made gurgling and clicking noises all night - no sleep. Also the hotel's construction is such that noise travels quickly - we had a large group of people leave early in the AM (5:15) and woke the whole floor up. Breakfast was OK, but the servers never told us we could have eggs - we just saw the egg pan and asked. Restaurant RIVA down the street was excellent!!!! All in all, average. Won't stay in this place again - but i want to visit Weggis as the town is delightful
Just opersite the boat landing and with a unspoiled view over the lake towards the mountains. All rooms facing the lake with nice big balcony. Good bathroom equipped with a super shower, biģ😊 Coffee machine but no coffee 😑
location great , what views you get from hotel of the lake ,right near the bus stop and boat station would like to have stayed longer, but staff let the hotel down on table service, and food could be better.would consider going back for the views.
Stayed at the Hotel post during a recent visit to Weggis. The Hotel, a former gambling Casino, urgently needs an update. The Beds are very small and uncomfortable, the rooms are tiny and the Internet did not work very well. The location is great, but be aware that it is located right next to a steamboat landing station and quite noisy.
Location is very good, just in front of public bus stop and boat station. However, this is one only reason to stay on this place. Design is a mix of everything and rather kitschy, with lots of gold and mirrors. Room was not properly cleaned, and balcony was totally dirty. There was a coffee machine in the room, but we had to ask for the capsules, no sugar was brought though. There was also one bathrobe, for others you need to ask. Then they tend to forget. Wifi only works in the lobby. Breakfast was ok quality and choice. There was also a small swimming pool inside but it was dark there and not inviting. Hotel is mostly full with transit Chinese groups. Not recommended.
This hotel fully deserves it's 4 star rating. Our beds were not what we booked and within half an hour they had fixed the problem. Staff were great and it was a lovely clean warm room. Breakfast was standard but the eggs were warm which is a plus and they serve the coffee personally. ..Nice ambience...
Hotel has nice location with great views on the lake. Free wifi, parking costs 12 CHF. Breakfast costs 15 CHF per person. TV didn't work properly and we didn't have any English channels. Beds were awful, falling apart under me after any movement, uncomfortable pillows. Bathroom was good. Staff is ok, but tried to overcharge us for parking that we didn't use.
