The view was amazing... But that's it :( The restaurant was not so clean. And this restaurant needs a better management. Very poor service but not rude. The dishes was not really cleaned ... Sad to see this Hotel like this, i sleep once there a few years ago and was amazing, now seems that nobody cares. Hope all the best for this Hotel
We came for ice cream and drinks in the afternoon on a sunny day. Service was VERY slow (so slow in fact that 3 tables left without being served). The order was delivered incorrectly: we ordered the Coupe Schwartzwald with cherries and it came with mixed berries. No apologies from rather unhelpful, uncaring and unmotivated staff. Needless to say we will NEVER return, despite a great view. An extremely disappointing experience.
Had great difficulty finding it - only in the end with the help of a very kind local who led us in his car with us following. Incredible views, helpful and friendly staff, very good food. Unfortunately room was VERY poor. Light bulbs broken, wardrobe broken and shower leaked. Lets down what could be an ideal place to stay - we only stayed overnight thankfully
The rooms themselves are very average, our room was clean and quaint. But the real highlight of this hotel is the view. The view is something out of this world, I could have sat outside on our balcony all day getting lost in the beauty of Lucerne. This is something I will always treasure and when I think of Switzerland the first thing I think of is this view. Another great feature during the wintertime was the large field that the hotel had, it was perfect for a snowball fight and snow angels. This was the most fun I have ever had at a hotel!
The staff were very friendly, helpful, courteous and accommodating - even during the period of high occupancy they sincerely tried to give us the best rooms they had. Location on top of the hill with a view of beautiful Lucerne.. There was no noise or problems except two things: room's brightness and that it was a little bit cold there (it was the end of December).. but if you have a hot heart beside you - there is no f...ing problem to fall asleep!! So that's not a hotel's lack, seriously..☺️
Upon entering room we found a pile of dead wasps (about 50). There were others flying around which we killed before the children were stung. We were first offered some spray to help. Quite laughable. It took an hour to get a different room which was only for 2 (we were family of four). Although I suggested moving an extra bed in, we were told not possible. Something they seemed to often say. I moved a mattress from another room myself but our children were not happy and barely slept. Ruined our stay and our next day. Absolutely appalling hotel and poor service. It seems the hotel relies on the amazing views to lure people to it. Staying here is not worth it just for the views unless you enjoy sharing your bed with wildlife and privacy with the people in room next to you.
TL;DR; - Spend a bit more and sleep somewhere else (broken bed, no WiFi, no curtains, no service, torn linens). This hotel is not a place you want to spend the night in. It's located at the top of a hill overlooking Luzern, but is actually pretty far from the city. The way to the hotel is through a long, dark, narrow and winding road, the kind that makes you think your never going to get there, either because you'll get lost or because you'll smash in to a someone driving the other way on one of the curves. At the end of the road, you'll find a lonely building, full of other disappointed people that tried to save a few euros, and found out what a lousy night they're going to have. This is how our stay looked - our room, that was supposed to be a double-bed room, had two beds with two single mattresses in it, simply placed in conjunction to one another. The pillows were in completely different sizes (the bigger one's cover wasn't enough to cover it completely, it was actually sticking out), and the linens were old, tired, and with holes and small tears. The shower was old, plastic yellowing from use and years, and the shelf under the mirror actually had rust on it. The window curtains were completely see through, blocking no light, so no sleeping late. This was all pretty depressing but we felt we can live with it. When we sat on the bed, and it's base completely broke, well, we had to complain. We went down and explained to the receptionist what had happened. "Oh, I see. I have only one more room, but it's a twin-bed, not a double-bed, you can move there if you'd like." - that was the receptionist reply - no "sorry", no offers to compensate us, not even an offer to refund the few euros difference, as a twin room is cheaper than a double, absolutely nothing. Well, the double bed was a lie anyway, so we moved (By ourselves, if you had any doubts). Our new room had no curtains at all - an issue when the entrance to the shower room is in direct view from the parking downstairs. One other thing our room didn't have, despite what was stated online, is WiFi. Actually, the only place we could get a signal in was the lobby, and by the amount of other people sitting around and surfing the web on their mobiles, it seems this was the case for all the rooms. While sitting in the lobby and planning the next part of our trip, we overheard someone complaining to the receptionist about students in the room next to his making a riot, saying he and his wife can't sleep. "I'm sorry, I don't have any other rooms", the receptionist said, and the look on her face said "I have no way, or intention, to help you - you can leave, if you want, but good luck with the refund". For us, her face was the essence of this hotel - it said everything. Switzerland is expensive, and Luzern is no different. It's clear that the only reason this place is still open is because it's one of the cheapest offers in the area. But trust us - you're better off spending 20-30 euros more, and passing the night in a place that has a minimal amount of respect for it's customers.
Service: We arrived 30 minutes prior to the 3p check-in time and were met at the front desk by a man who preferred to speak English over German. We wanted to drop our bags at reception and would come back later, but he said we couldn't. After a bit of pressure, he disappeared, then reemerged with our room keys and allowed us to check in and place our bags in the room, but he said we must return to the desk at 3p to settle the bill. It is unusual to settle the bill at check-in. Overall, there was a little inconvenience for us to wait for the 3p check-in. The main problem with the service was the tone and tenor of the gentleman working the front desk. Location: The hotel is location around 18 minutes from the Lucerne Hauptbahnhof (main train station). The way to the hotel is marked from Kriens, but it is windy and difficult to navigate; we needed the use of a GPS device. The hotel is very close to the start of the Pilatus cable car and has a beautiful view of Lake Lucerne and the city. Hard-Product: The hotel is clearly newly renovated; the rooms are modern and beautiful. Not all rooms have showers, some just have a bath tub. The heat did not work in our room. The duvet cover had a small scab of blood on it. The balconies were great! Amenities: Breakfast was great and worth the money. WiFi, when accessible, was fast. There is a place to charge your phone for free in the dining room area for up to three hours.
I stayed in March with a friend. The room wasn't clean. There was dried blood on a sheet and pillow case and none of the skeleton staff was around so we could move room. My friend was bitten several times by bugs, which travelled home with him (probably on his case or in his clothing) and infested his flat, requiring him to move out, pay experts to fumigate the flat and destroy his bed frame, mattress, bedding, carpets and other items, at a cost of about £2,500. It is such a shame that the housekeeping is so poor, as the view is so nice, but our experience says that the hotel really doesn't care about its guests.
The view from this hotel in absolutely incredible, and the price was very reasonable, but you get what you pay for. Those are about the only nice things I have to say. The drive up there to this place is insane, do even think about walking or taking a taxi. The restaurant is terrible and surprisingly expensive, but they have you once your there. You would spend an hour driving just getting food. We were on the 3rd floor and had a very simple room, no amenities whatsoever. Shower had no water pressure and I had to crouch to get under it. The beds are shot, squeaky and uncomfortable. Overall the stay was pleasant, just know what your getting into and you get what you pay for.
