We stayed two nights in the Hotel de la Paix in September. Hotel was very clean, quiet and comfortable. We had a Superior Room which gave us lots of space.Bed was comfortable and breakfast was very good. The location was really convenient to train station and an easy walk to restaurants, shopping and the beautiful city of Lucerne. We would stay there again!
Nothing special about the hotel. Very basic. Small rooms, not enough space to move about for a baby. The cot for baby was of poor quality, with a very uneven sleeping surface. Our baby was very uncomfortable there and finally slept on our bed. No space to keep stroller in room. Had to park it in the corridor. No kettle in room. Hot water was not available after 10 in night. May be problematic for preparing early morning milk/food for baby. Breakfast was very basic, cold buffet. Location was central, with bus stop right next to hotel.
Hotel is well located on the edge of the old town. Our room with two beds was not bad. Bathroom had a high tub which we don't like. Hotel was quiet and clean. Front desk was helpful. Breakfast had a good variety. I gave the hotel a three star as our room was not that great but other rooms might be better.
We stayed at this lovely hotel for two weeks half board and could not have been made more comfortable by the friendly owners and staff. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was of a very high standard with a varied menu served in their restaurant Le Lapin which had a very relaxed feel. We would love to return to Luzern and look toward to staying at this hotel again.
One of the nicest hotels during my 10 day tour of Switzerland. Great location - only a three stops bus ride from the railway, a couple of minutes walk to the fantastic Lucerne waterfront and also close to the famous Lion statue. Nice friendly and very well run small 3* hotel. Rooms a bit basic and old fashioned but in a great city like Lucerne you wont be spending alot of time in your room. Breakfast was good enough too. The hotel's restaurant Le Lapin next door is also quite good and worth considering. Overall the Hotel de la Paix is a good choice in this great city.
This hotel was booked by my husband to celebrate my birthday. We!l it turned out to be a love!y experience. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. We were half board and so had a reduced menu to choose from but it made no difference as the food was fab.Every night there was a choice to suit us and the restaurant staff were so helpful. The hotel itself is very central and it wasn't long before we knew how to get around the area without a problem. It would have been better with air conditioning but as other reviewers have mentioned there was a large floor fan in the room. As the week progressed we grew more accustomed to the heat and it wasn't as much of a problem. If we ever return again to Lucerne we would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again. Fab
Hey everyone one of our very memorable places we have been to in the Swiss will always be Lucerne... the city is so beautiful and vibrant and Hotel de la paix is very comfortably accessible from the railway station. I called the hotel from the platform and asked for directions to reach the hotel and was guided instantly by the receptionist. The bus stop is exactly opposite platform no 3 and route no 1 is the bus you should take to the Lion Monument stop which is just the 3rd one once you board the bus with your suitcases. Other days you can walk to the hotel comfortably. The beds were very spacious and nice. In fact the third bed was also a double bed. Our room was very nice but extremely difficult to maneuver as the bed was jutting out very close to the cupboards and we had to be very careful not to bump into the furniture. Maybe our room was a corner one so the shape was very odd. The bathroom was very good well stocked with soap and shampoo and a large bath tub. After you visit Mt. Pilatus one day and Mt. Titlis the second day you can soak in the bath tub to just rest out your tired body. At night though the street lights are on and pour into the room till very late also you can easily hear the traffic just when your about to sleep. The hotel has a big restaurant in the ground floor. We found an Indian restaurant for food just opposite De la Paix to have a good meal at night. The breakfast at the hotel was good and the staff very sweet. In fact the receptionist a lady was very helpful in guiding on how to go and what to do on the phone. We were lucky it didn't rain while we were in the city. From taking trains to the favorite spots, to taking boat rides and guiding about the trains the staff was extremely helpful. The hotel gives you complementary water when you arrive which was a real nice gesture. Will surely visit again sometime.
My family of five recently visited Switzerland and spent 3 nights at the Hotel De la Paix. The front desk and restaurant staff were very nice and helpful. The hotel offers a free breakfast buffet. Even though it is self serve, the staff went out of their way to see how we are doing and recommend things to do throughout the day. The woman at the front desk was extremely nice. They also had free outlet converters which was helpful given Switzerland is on a different standard than the rest of Europe. We happened to be in Switzerland during some of the hottest days on record. The hotel wasn't air conditioned but I don't think many hotels are in Lucerne. It probably isn't an issue 99% of the time.
We spent three nights here for our time in Lucerne. The location is amazing - 10 minute walk from the station and ferry ports, with plenty of restaurants and bars in walking distance, as well as some of the key sights (e.g. the lion statue and old city walls). The hotel staff are super helpful and really friendly. The room was nice and light. Despite having a room that overlooked the road, we didn't hear any outside noise at all which was great. No air conditioning but they supplied a fan which did the job. There wasn't a kettle in the room. Breakfast was fine - cereals and breads with ham/cheese. Would have liked there to be some hot options but can't be too fussy! Very close to a supermarket too. For a city break, it was perfect as it was very close to everything!
Hotel de la Paix is just a 15-min walk from Lucerne train station. Nearby are three supermarkets - Denner, Coop and Migros. The famous Lion Monument is merely 5-min walk away. My GF and I were pleased with the rooms, especially the bath tubs. However, there was no air-conditioning. But the hotel did provide a fan. As there was no kettle in the room, I had to walk across to the adjacent Hotel Ambassador for hot water. Room service from the hotel restaurant Lapin was quick, but required a 15 CHF surcharge to deliver to the room, so I opted for self-collection instead. Reception staff were friendly and helpful with our questions. Breakfast was reasonably good but would be better if scrambled eggs or omelettes were served instead of just hard-boiled eggs.
