The people at Art Deco are amazing. The staff make you feel appreciated and a priority from the minute you check in, until you leave. Location is great. The views of the lake fantastic. The open deck bar area is amazing.
Beautifully, tastefully designed rooms in Art Deco style, super clean and comfortable. Lake views are stunning. Breakfast luxury and delicious. Setting unforgettable. Easy to find because of its prominent position. Funicular brings you to the hotel reception. Staff friendly and efficient.
Spacious room with balcony overlooking Lake Lucerne. Excellent dinner and service on the terrace as well as a wide variety of breakfast items to choose from. The location was ideal for sightseeing. Jazz lounge and 'beach area' for after dinner drinks and visiting. A very special place.
Loved our experience and the city of Lucerne is amazing. We did not eat any meals at the hotel, but enjoyed our patio and the views are truly incredible. Great service and it’s a nice location outside of the super touristy parts of Lucerne. A short walk to all that you would want to visit.
We chose the Art Deco Hotel Montana for its location and accommodations, and everything far exceeded our already high expectations! We booked a penthouse hot tub suite for 2 nights, a real splurge for our anniversary. The room and the panoramic view is absolutely breathtaking. The room itself is very spacious and nice, with lots of windows and a large bathroom. Everything about the room was perfect. The wrap-around, corner terrace had a hot tub, 2 lounge chairs, a small table with 2 additional chairs, and automatic awnings that adjust to provide shade. We ended up getting room service often to enjoy our meals and morning coffee on the terrace. The staff at this property are very friendly and helpful. The location, with views of Lucern and Lake Lucern, and the short walking distance to town, cannot be beat. A truly special property!
We stayed at this hotel for two nights last month as part of a pre-cruise tour package from Viking Cruises. The hotel was lovely and the staff was wonderful. When we first checked in, we had a room overlooking the back of the hotel that had a large balcony but nothing of a view. I asked at the front desk if they had any rooms facing the lake and they did, and moved us without any hassle. The room was clean and large. We had breakfast included (the hotel web site does not seem to mention that it is included) and the breakfast was excellent. The staff making omelets did a great job.
We stayed 3nights. The view from the room terrace was very good. Dinner at Scala Restaurant was also very good. However, complementary service such as coffee in the room was not enough. Breakfast was so poor. Foods were only hams, sausages, cheeses and eggs, but no vegetables, while Montana salad at the dinner was very good. I hope we will have some salad at the breakfast.
Just returned from a week's holiday at this amazing hotel. We had a 5th floor upgraded room which was lovely. The hotel 's art Deco style is embraced with its decor. Location is superb and the views from the restaurant of lakes and mountains absolutely fantastic. Great having a funicular to take you down to lake side level. Our meals were exquisite, high quality ingredients and presentation superb. Staff were excellent, attentive & friendly , quite exceptional service and attention to detail. We cannot praise this hotel enough. Lovely having free travel pass in zone 10 provided when you check in, for public transport. Nice touch after check in to be taken up to your room and shown facilities. Tea & coffee making machine - unusual for Switzerland was great. As we stayed 7 days we also got free pack lunches which was a bonus. Our transfer from airport was by train so half price discount pass which was included meant 50% discount on trains , cable cars etc. Brilliant! Wonderful holiday would definitely recommend . We hope to visit again.
We had a fantastic view of the lake and mountains. Loved the (small) balcony to go out to take pictures. They had a nice smoking lounge for my husband. The bed was so comfortable! They had the coolest 'transportation' from the hotel down to street level.
First off my husband - we are a married gay couple, was addressed as Mrs. All the correspondence including the email invite to write this review, and the complimentary water note were addressed to Mr & Mrs. I know that isn’t the information given to the hotel by Viking. I rarely comment on this but in 2018 I think it’s long overdue that this sort of crass mistake was avoided. It’s frankly, insulting. The position of the hotel and the professional attitude of the staff was excellent - but frankly I have never found anywhere in Switzerland where it is not. The management seem to have decided to make the hotel a centre of culinary excellence, and in this they have succeeded. This now takes me to our room. We were in 206. The bedroom was very large but seemed to have been converted from a conference room. There wasn’t a single picture or any decoration on the walls - it was bland and characterless in the extreme and frankly a little depressing as well as disappointing. The view was outstanding from the small balcony, which helped. However the room is directly above the hotel’s often noisy “Beach Club”. I find air conditioning makes it very difficult to sleep, but we had no choice but to close the windows on to the balcony which I would normally leave open, because of the noise and cigar and cigarette smoke that filled our room. In addition to that, the bright yellow lighting from outside pretty much illuminated the room until 2am when it was switched off. The bathroom was vast and more than adequate, although a cheap shower curtain did nothing to contain shower water. A glass door would have been far better, but it’s a minor point. Also while shampoo and body wash were provided, no conditioner seemed odd. The extractor fan up on the wall was also very dirty and didn’t seem as though it had been cleaned in a while. For some reason on our first night, a member of staff unlocked our door from outside and came in, waking me, she didn’t seem to see us asleep in bed at first but quickly left when she did. It was 2330hrs, so why was she there? The Scala restaurant is very expensive, even for Switzerland, but the food was excellent - I often eat in such places and found it impressive. The views alone are spectacular, but the food lived up to it as did the service. Sadly on the last morning the hotel had an open day and just about everyone in Lucerne seemed to make their way through the premises. It wasn’t something I appreciated on a Sunday morning in such a prestigious hotel. Overall, the hotel is conflicted. Accommodation is at best three star, the culinary experience is a good five star. Management seems especially keen to promote the hotel and make a positive impression, almost excessively so. It depends on its amazing vantage point, and it’s culinary excellence but it’s accommodations leave a lot to be desired. It did not make for a brilliant end to our holiday, although Lucerne was wonderful.
