The most amazing hotel I have ever stayed at. A perfect location with beautiful breathtaking panoramic views over Lake Lucerne. True hospitality, the staff are extremely friendly and very helpful. Warm greeting upon arrival. From the moment we arrived at the hotel till the moment we left, everything was perfect. The hotel is the best we have ever stayed in and the staff in all areas including the hotel Manager were fabulous, never have we enjoyed staying at a hotel more. The location of the hotel is only a short walking distance from the Lucerne city centre and main train station along the lake edge. About 200m to the hotel, you will find a cable car waiting to take you right up to the reception. Take a free ride to the reception! There are some few free parking available next to the hotel building. The rooms are air-conditioned with flat-screen TV and free WiFi. Our room had a balcony with views of the city, the surrounding nature and the lake. The beach club bar with its whites sands and palm tree facing the lake and the Alps was is truly breathtaking. The patio and its’ cold and the hot tub was a great place to relax after a long day. The fine dining restaurant offers a multi-course meal with an amazing service, delicious food and a fabulous, breakfast. A surprise well-dressed chocolates for my birthday will be hard to be forgotten. We Will definitely be coming back here for a longer visit! We Would highly recommend this hotel for anyone whether on business or leisure, Montana is the place!
We stayed at Montana Hotel in Lucerne for 3 nights in July 2017 from Australia. We arrived by train and the hotel was a short taxi ride from the station. It is also only 5-7 min by bus. We were instantly amazed by the spectacular view from the hotel over the lake and mountains and the very warm and friendly reception staff. On arrival we were upgraded to a junior suit for no extra charge. The suite was amazing, very large and beautifully renovated in art deco style with amazing views!! The hotel has a cog railway which transports you down to the pedestrian strip. The hotel provided us with free bus passes for our entire stay. We never waited for more than a minute for a bus which would take us from the furnincular rail to the centre of town in 3 minutes. The breakfast was fabulous with views over the lake and Swiss Alps. This hotel does not disappoint and I would definitely go back when next in Lucerne which one if the prettiest cities in Europe. Sarah
This hotel's location is perfect. It is only a quick bus ride to the train/bus station in the center maybe about 5-10 minutes at most I would say. Trains and buses usually run on time in Switzerland so it should not deter anyone from staying here. The great thing also is the lake view from the hotel with some Alp views. A unique feature of the hotel is taking the funicular from the street level up as the hotel is located on a hill. The staff was very kind and knowledgeable at all levels. Boris was very helpful in giving us advice on places to eat around town. Another was Lazar as he provided us tickets to Mt. Pilatus instead of having to buy them at the mountain. One other was a red haired girl at the front desk we forgot her name but she was from Austria. She was very nice and usually was there in the evenings always greeting us and asking how our night went. The breakfast buffet was really good and the waiters and waitresses were active in trying to serve us. They also made sure to bring us warm milk and check if we wanted more coffee which was delicious. Somebody wrote a negative review regarding one of the waiters - a tall older man with glasses - being rude. That is completely false and that guy was never rude so the person that wrote that review is trying to be hurtful for no justified reason. We observed the staff's mannerisms and movements and none gave a negative vibe. It is true there is no AC but it was never hot or humid but our rooms did have fans so we could get some air. Also if you open the windows you can get a breeze of air. There was a minor mishap with buying the tickets to Pilatus as we did not remember if we paid with cash so it was billed. It was sorted out professionally and that's what makes a hotel great is how it solves an issue and Boris and Lazar did an excellent job. We do hope to come back to Luzern and see Mt. Titlus and Rigi next time around and would definitely stay here again in Hotel Montana.
My two girlfriends and I checked into this hotel for three nights. The view from our room was beautiful and we had a great time overall. Almost everyone working there was very nice. But our very last meal there, we were shocked by the behavior of the male manager in the restaurant on Aug. 10, 2017. The dining room was totally empty except for one table of men - and for whatever reason the host seated us right next to them - despite all the other open tables. But when that party loudly took a phone call, we quietly moved to a different seat. That's when the crazy manager came over, screaming at us as though we were children. He said nothing to the man on the phone, was so rude to us and overall extremely disrespectful. I won't go on and on about it but the whole thing was really a disgusting, weird display of emotion. Way over the top. All after we had spent so much money there - on our room and on our meals. Because of this man, I would not go back again. Nor would I recommend to any of my friends or clients. This guy's attitude toward women was as outdated as the hotel's decor.
We had a terrific room this week at the Montana. Panoramic room with balcony high above the town and Lake Lucerne. Friendly staff, great bar and top notch restaurant. Away from the tourist buses. A ride down the funicular and your in town with a beautiful walk to town.
We chose to end a two week European vacation in Lucerne, and could not have been more pleased with the Montana. We were unexpectedly upgraded to a suite, and had an incredible view of the lake from a clean, modern, impeccable room. The service we received was excellent, from the front desk and from the staff in the restaurant and the Louis bar. We only had breakfast and lunch in the restaurant, but the food was excellent at both meals. Location is excellent for travelers who want to see the city. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely return.
This hotel exceeded expectations. My wife and I traveled to Lucerne in July and were treated to an excellent stay at the Art Deco Hotel. It is one of the more fancy hotels in Lucerne but you do get what you pay for. As we had booked late, they were out of the Lake facing rooms but with a great terrace bar called 'Beach Club' we did not miss out on much. The views of the lakes and the mountains are some of the best in Lucerne. The room itself was large, clean, and very cozy. The bathroom is sincerely one of the most elegant looking bathrooms I have come across. The bath is fantastic, as is the spacious rain shower. Two large sinks and wonderful amenities make it an incredibly comfortable experience. The beds were very comfy, but like all Swiss beds, they somehow insist on joining two large twins together so you get a groove in the middle. But the pillows were well excellent and they even offer you the option of ordering premium, luxury pillows to your room at no extra cost. As it was out honeymoon - the staff wrote us a beautiful card (which we somehow left in the room!!) and treated us to a comp bottle of sparkles. We were very impressed. Breakfast room is modern and beautiful with amazing views of the city. Definitely will return if back in Lucerne, and if finances permit, try their fantastic looking penthouse.
Very good food and service. We paid a premium for a room with a balcony from which we could enjoy the great lakeside views but consequently had to endure monotonous loud bass music, smoke and lack of privacy from the beach bar immediately below (from 3 pm until at least 11 pm). Shutting windows and doors blocked out the noise and smoke but made the room very hot given the lack of Air Conditioning. Generally a good hotel with great food and views but please sort out the AC and do something about the beach bar. Not much point in having a balcony with a lakeside view if you can't use it!
We were greeted by two delightful attendants. When offered an upgrade we decided to select a lake view. We weren't disappointed. We were made to feel special by being escorted to our room. all the while being advised of places to go and things to see in this beautiful town. After an wonderful day we slept well in comfortable beds in a fone room. Feeling hungry we were priviliged to enjoy a magnificent breakfast...superb. Our stay was magic. Every member of the staff were friendly, helpful, delightful. Love the funicular.
This is the 2nd time visiting hotel Montana. Last time was 15 years ago. Nothing bad to say about this hotel. Great rooms, bar, and beach club (bar and place to relax w views of the city and mtns). As with almost all hotels in Lucerne, there is no air conditioning, but was not an issue.
