Once again the Hotel Montana proves to be the best place to stay in Lucerne. My wife and I spent a week here between Christmas and New Year 2018 and were treated to another perfect week. Holiday stays are sometimes problematic but not at the Montana. As always the service was fine without fuss, the food was excellent in the Scala restaurant and the assistance from the staff was top notch. Boris the Concierge assisted us with dinner reservations in Lucerne and travel information--always professional and friendly. We will return to the Montana no doubt--best place to stay in Central Switzerland and great place to "base" from to visit the mountains and lakes.
Beautiful hotel, overlooking lake Lucern and mountains.... room was incredibly clean, staff very attentive, breakfast was vast and served in beautiful dinning room, close walk to lake and center.... I enjoyed my stay!
Stunning view and fabulous Hotel. You can enjoy Luzern lake from above of this Hotel. The room price is expensive but of course it’s reasonable for having a great service and gorgeous view directly from your window.
Excellent and knowledgable staff everywhere and eager to meet any request. Restaurant not only has fabulous views but attentive and friendly service with complete knowledge of menu and wines. Have had numerous visits here and always maintains it superior service.
The hotel itself is beautiful and spotless clean. The view is amazing and the rooms are very cozy. It's a really posh place, so if you like classic styled quality hotels, it's the right place for you. However for me there was something missing from perfection: the staff at the reception was not really helpful, only gave the keys and let us go and also the breakfast selection was quite poor comparing to other hotels this quality - except the tea selection, it was pretty cool :)
We booked our room (213) for two nights and a friend got us upgraded. The view was spectacular and since we had a corner room it was panoramic. Staff were friendly and helpful. However, the 4.3 rating is suspect. Our estimation is that it is a 3* with incredible views. The room had a raised platform at the entry which necessitated a step down to the room itself and the bathroom causing a number of trips. Though the bathroom had double sinks the mirror was placed between them and awkward. Any 4* hotel and many 3* hotels have robes and Nepresso coffee makers - the AD Montana did not. At roughly $350 USD a night, I had mistakenly expected breakfast - I should have read more closely. Nonetheless, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay but probably will not return.
We had an incredible view of the Lake from our room balcony and there were similar spectacular views in the bar and restaurant . Staff was very attentive and very helpful with information on accessing local sites and restaurant recommendations. The hotel is situated a short (10-15 min) and pleasant walk to the town. The private funicular was fun to use especially for avoiding the uphill climb when coming back from town. Hotel parking is limited so need to reserve a spot if required. Would definitely stay again.
Perfect view on the lake, both from room and restaurant, very good breakfast buffet. The staff is very friendly and helpful, they organized our tour around the old town. Complimentary late check out, that we didn't use finally.
Before I start my review, I would like to thank Sandra for providing a lot of details about the various rooms that were available. Speaking to Sandra several times, my fiancé and I were able to book what we believe was the best suite in the hotel. As he had told her in person, her genuine desire to help and her kindness made booking this hotel a no brainer. My fiancé and I stayed here for 3 nights in suite 513. It was magnificent. Firstly, I can’t say enough great things about the staff at Montana. Everyone, from the concierge to the waiters were exceptionally friendly and helpful, always with a smile and ready to answer questions and be of service ! One particular gentleman, Boris, was very knowledgeable, gave us tips, and helped us plan some sight seeing around Lucerne that was magnificent. The small little details really just make this a four star hotel a five star experience. Firstly, the whole ambiance of this hotel was modern, warm, and inviting. The staff of course made it even warmer! There were little things like fresh fruit put out in the hall as treats, warm seats on the toilet 🙊🙊, and just lots of other small little conveniences everywhere. We were very satisfied and comfortable during our stay. Our penthouse was fabulous in every way. In our opinion, looking at the floor plans, room 513 is the best for all around views of Lucerne and the mountains. The hotel has only two panoramic penthouse suites, room 502 and 513. We highly recommend 513 as it has the superior view with a large jacuzzi tub on the terrace overlooking directly mountain pilatus and the city and lake of Lucerne. You get a king size bed, two separate blankets so you don’t disturb one another :) the bed faces two large windows so you can wake up to magical views. Very clean, very neat, very warm, and romantic. Beautifully decorated with plenty of space to lounge, have breakfast outside, use the jacuzzi, and you get lots of privacy :) This was a such an amazing stay. I wouldn’t pick another hotel if were ever back in Lucerne :)
The Montana, which overlooks the Lake Lucerne and the mountains that surround it, is a lovely hotel with spacious, modern, and spacious rooms. The hotel is a success in every way, but its position, on an elevated site above the lake, makes it a very special hostelry. Personnel are friendly and helpful. Breakfasts are very good, and the view from the restaurant is superb. I strongly recommend this hotel, which added to our enjoyment of this beautiful Swiss city.
