Had a 4 day stay here. Spacious rooms. Rooms have a balcony which faces Lake Geneva and snow capped mountains. The view from our rooms was surreal. Good breakfast and courteous staff. Reception people are very friendly and happy to answer your queries unlike elsewhere in Europe. Tram stop nearby which connects to Montreux station (very nearby) and Vevey.
a fairly worn 1970s-looking big hotel. but it makes the best of a fabulous location, backing onto lac leman with views of swiss and french mountains and access to lakeside path. walkable from the train station, 10-15 mins depending if via roads or lake path.
Yes this hotel has a bit „faded glory“ and needs renovation/rebranding (everything bit anaheonistic). But rooms are really nice and clean, views are stunning, value for money is very good and staff great. Also really good service. Liked it overall!
Stayed for a week- really beautiful location right on the lake with stunning views - if you get a lake view room- otherwise not so much. The hotel is a pretty dated unappealing modem building and rooms need a serious refresh. Breakfast good.
Nice hotel with great views and large rooms albeit they are a little dated and in need of some refurb. Having said that the staff were all helpful and nothing was too much to ask for. The gym is a little tired but adequate
We stayed at the Royal Plaza for 5 nights from Sept 8th on a package deal and are pleased to report that it was a pleasant experience. The breakfast was excellent and the Spa facilities were very satisfactory. We had a lake view room which provided a stunning panorama of Lake Geneva. The staff were very helpful and a special mention for Dustin on the front desk who was an excellent ambassador for the hotel.
We stayed for eight nights at the Royal Plaza in a suite and loved it. Nice balcony with lake views and very central. The hotel were very accommodating in advising us how to get to the hotel and which bus to take from the Station, however with a large suitcase we were not willing to chance this, but could have done easily. We were thrilled to be given a free transport card when we arrived and wished we had known this prior to purchasing a half price Swiss transport card. We were entitled to free or 50% off transport within the area so certainly made use of that on the buses, trains and ferries. It was wonderful and the transport is so easy to use. The hotel really does need upgrading and I think they would agree with that. We loved our balcony but next to us was obviously a larger apartment with a larger balcony which overlooked ours to a certain extent. Not so bad if there weren't children there who delighted in hanging over watching our every move. Fortunately they were not there for long. We found the room facilities very inconsistent. There was tea and coffee making facilities, in fact a very fancy coffee making machine - at a cost. However the sachets were enough for us, but we only got two a day and sometimes none at all. The tea sachets were English Breakfast and Camomile - the latter not to my taste so it left us rather short and there was only powdered milk. I did ask for the little tubs of long life milk which we got as well as a kettle. We just felt that for the price, they were stinting a little. So much so we went and bought our own tea. Overall though we were happy with it.
We were upgraded to the penthouse suite and the views were fabulous, 2 bathrooms separate lounge, very comfortable. The whole hotel is a little tired and very 70's but our experience was wonderful...excellent desk staff.
The Hotel Royal Plaza Montreux is located in the central part of the city right on Lake Geneva, just a few blocks from the train station. The hotel is nice, although much of the interior decor is getting dated and could use updating. Much of the decor in the public areas veers toward the gaudy. The staff at the front desk were business-like and not particularly friendly. My room had a great view of Lake Geneva. The bed was comfortable, and there was no noise from other rooms or the hallway. The bathroom was well-appointed. While not a problem for me, I'd note that getting in and out of the tub/shower would be difficult for older people. Our rate included the breakfast buffet, which was quite nice. The staff were attentive, and there was a great selection that included fresh fruit and pretty much any breakfast item you could want. Overall, a nice hotel, although nothing especially memorable.
This hotel is in the perfect location if you attend the annual Montreux Jazz Festival. It is also close to many attractions by car or walking. The rooms are kinda small, but very clean. The hotel sits overlooking Lake Geneva so the views are fantastic. Also it is close to the train station which is convenient.
