Royal Plaza Montreux & Spa5.0 out of 5.0

Montreux is a breathtakingly beautiful place, beside Lake Geneva. This hotel is located alongside the lake, and has rooms overlooking it. My room was on the ground floor so I couldn’t see much of the lake, nevertheless whatever I could see was delightful. The room itself was quite spacious. Apart from all the standard facilities there was a coffee maker in the room with little blister packs of concentrated coffee in different flavours. There was some fault in the locker, and it didn’t open on the second day when I had sto retrieve something that I had kept inside. After trying a couple of times, I had to call the hotel reception, and they sent a person, who tried her best, but was unsuccessful. She then called a technician to forcibly pry open the locker door. He came, but without the appropriate instruments and left to get them. Meanwhile I tried one last time with the same password, and thankfully it opened! A bit mysterious but all was well thereafter. Breakfast buffet has a wide variety of options even for vegetarians. I’d love to go back to this place someday.
Royal Plaza is one of the most relaxing hotel. The view of lake and Avian mountains from the balcony is breathtaking. If you are looking for complete relaxation, nice walk and mind refreshing this the place. Great staff, nice rooms and good price. Only downside hotel park at a fee USD50 per day.
I attended the Montreux Art Fair in November 2017 as a exhibiting artist, and had booked a room in a nearby hotel (Villa Toscane) that was administrated by the Royal Plaza. Booking in, I was upgraded to a very nice room at the Royal Plaza that would normally cost much more than the room I actually booked. The staff was very friendly and efficient. It was a very enjoyable stay. This is the perfect place to stay for functions at the 2m2c center, only a short walk away.
The hotel has a magnificent view and very friendly staff members which something we are happy with However, i am really disappointed that the hotel is not honest with the pictures displayed on the website which doesn't match what we got when we arrived, the website showed very specious rooms with dining area and very big bed room What we got is not more than a jn. Suite standards, and when asked the receptionist we were informed that it is the same but the furniture was changed because we requested an extra bed (which we didn't and we don't have in the room) The other thing is that i had to speak to the front desk manager for the hotel to give us a welcome fruit basket and water (which is expected by default when booking an executive suite in a 5 star hotel and paying over 550 per night)
I say great views....if your lake view. I had the street, which was still OK because I had some pretty mountain views. I like fresh air so the street noise was a little distracting, but not too bad. However, the birds get up way early and like to talk to each other at a very high pitch (no fault to the hotel). I have to say that the entire hotel was a bit dated to me, like stuck in the '80s. This includes the room. Though the bathroom was updated. My bed was not comfortable at all (but that's subjective). Breakfast buffet had TONS to offer. And all their restaurant food and drinks were quite good. Lots of beautiful views from the lobby, terrace, bar and restaurant.
We had a lovely stay at the hotel with our upgraded suite overlooking the Lake. The restaurant was lovely as well as the daily breakfast. The staff at reception were very accommodating and helpful. Would also recommend the Spa for a treatment.
If you are looking for a place to stay at Montreux then I would highly recommend the Royal Plaza. The hotel is walking distance from station and shopping areas. The jazz festival happens around the area. The hotel has very friendly staff who are fluent English speakers especially with tourists. I would not comment on the meals as we only had breakfast. The breakfast buffet was not an elaborate spread. Just the basic stuff which is enough to sustain your morning on a business trip. They have indoor pool and spa. I did not check out the hotel gym as it was a short stay. The hotel faces an amazing view of lake with snow clad mountains. I would recommend one to book the lake facing view. The hotel has an amazing walking path with a park nearby for kids to play. I was glad that I was booked at the Royal Plaza, Montreux. It was perfect for my one visit at Montreux
i checked in ,mr ricardo was really helpful at the front desk there is no complementary tea bags / coffee in a room of 500 chf !!! when there is no mention of charges for tea bags then on what basis is the hotel charging . they in fact want you to consume inadvertantly and then charge you for it .its a trap to make few pennys. we had checked in last night , charged 75 chf for a extra bed , which was not even made for tge night . when i called the front desk i was informed the room service personnel had left for the day. i asked david to either take the extra bed charges off my bill or any how / some how make the bed . this is when , most unwillingly he had to leave the front desk and take care of it . wow , what a expeeience getting a paid for extra bed!! is this really a 5 star ? is it normal to charge for tea bags / coffee sacthes in 5 stars in switzerland ? the higene level / cleanliness of the steam / sauna / wet area is also very poor. the same staff is managing those and the rooms . i guess the salaries are high in switzerland so they are on a economy drive saving on the payroll. when i had a issue with the heating in the room the 2 girls handling the wet area were there in my room tring to fix it . the hotel needs to hire more staff to maintain quality of service expected of the price and 5 star status . they are apparently " fishing in mudy waters" .
Got a wonderful and large room with a view over the lake. Very comfortable and reasonable price. Dinner was very good and the quick breakfast had all I needed. Good value, good location (all the sights within walking distance and also close to Vevey
We felt very welcoming upon arrival. The receptionist, David was very helpful. The lake view from the room where you can watch the sunrise was mesmerising. There’s also balcony where you can enjoy the view. Montreux is beautiful. The main attractions are just 5/10 mins walk from the hotel.
