Situated right on the banks of Lake Geneva - fabulous views from the lake-facing rooms; great walking path along the lake (though somewhat marred by the large number of vendors occupying a part of the walking path); close to plenty of shopping & restaurants - so, location is the best thing about this hotel. The hotel itself is pretty good (it could use a coat of paint on the outside) & rooms are nice. Breakfast is not included & costs an additional SFr 24. Overall service is reasonable.
Stayed here 5 nights on a recent trip to attend a conference and some vacation time. From the Montreux central train station (gare centrale), it was about a 10-15 minutes walk with luggage mostly downhill so it is not so bad. The location of the hotel is the best in Montreux in my opinion. The location of the hotel in comparison with other area hotel is in the most quiet area with everything close by in a 3 minutes walk. Had breakfast included in the rate and although the same items are served every morning, there is enough variety to not get bored. Eggs, bacon, sausages, cereals, fruit, ... The staff was always friendly and helpful at the front desk. Room was always made when we returned to our room after breakfast or an outing. It is an old hotel that is well kept. Room was clean. That said, you need to know that there is no air condition in the room or the hotel. In fact, there seemed to be very little places with air condition in Montreux. So the first night, the room was so hot we hardly slept. Then we realized we had to open the windows and leave them open (there are no screens). I would stay here again because the hotel is well situated and the view is amazing. For those needing gluten free, the hotel did have gluten free bread and made toast in the oven for me all week without any problems. Many restaurants in Montreux have gluten free options on the menu or upon asking. To my surprise, most Italian restaurants had delicious gluten free pasta and sauces. There is a Migros (grocery store) less than a 5 minutes walk and they had gf bread, muffins, etc. Ate at Molino Restaurant and Metropole restaurant a few times with no problem.
Lovely hotel with fantastic views of Lake Geneva from our room balcony! Friendly staff with great customer service. Our room rate included breakfast which was also very good. Highly recommend this place to stay. Thanks to the management
The hotel is perfectly located. Lake view, casino and city centre all is just right. Just one thing the owner of the hotel need to take care is to ask the staff member to have a smile. The warmth is missing and it spoils it all. Elody, the restaurant head staff defended her junior staff who was rude. The beauty of the place is ruined when you do not see the warmth in the environment. Choose a room on higher floor with a lake view and nothing will go wrong. Breakfast option for vegetarian is limited.
It was the worst hotel I have ever checked in. I will never ever return back there and I do NOT recommend it to anyone. My reasons: I wanted to spend a lovely weekend with my wife and my little girl so unfortunately, I have chosen this hotel. 1- There was a parking place free all the day and night, but they told me that there is no place and recommend me to put the car in Migros parking all the night which I dont have access in case of emergency and I had to pay 30 chf for the parking. 2- the entrance and the carpets are disgustingly dirty and you have an impression and you enter a very dirty place and I asked my daughter not to sit on the grand as it was super dirty. 3- For my family comfort, I have chosen a duplex room, and here is when the disaster happened. unbelievably they told me that duplex rooms are not in the same hotel building and they guided us to another ugly building the other side of the street where they call it villa :) What a funny joke, it was an emty ugly old bulding with no reception, NO body inside, NO room service, NO elevator, NO light in the stairs, NO telephone in the room, and the TV did not work ,, Yes believe me or not it was what they call it a 4 star hotel villa. it was even NObody to open the door for us, and when I left the room to buy something for my daughter, I could not enter back to my family. I had to go to the reception of the main hotel the other side of the street, ask reception to send me someone to open the door and to wait 10 minutes until someone comes. Remember, i had no access to my family until the door guy wishes to . In the case of emergency we were all alone on this building and unbelievably there was not a telephone in the room to survive. ( remember I am not speaking about a 2 stars hotel in the middle of a desert, I talk about a 4 stars hotel in Montreux, Switzerland, At the evening I wanted to order a bottle of wine for my wife and I which I had no chance to reach the room service, I went outside to buy one. then I went to the reception of the main hotel and I ask them how can I contact? guess what they answered? " Use your mobile to call us and search hotel number on Internet " . I asked then a wine opener to open the win and they said they cannot give me one as they only had one. they asked me to go downstairs to the restaurant and ask them to open. I went, the restaurant refused to borrow me one, they opened the buttle for me and I had to come back to the reception, ask for the door guy and cross the street with an open bottle in my hand to arrive in ( my Villa ) . an abandoned building which they call it villa. at the end when my daughter slept, we decided to watch a movie or something with my wife while drinking a bit of wine and try to forget this horrible experience, guess what? yes, the TV did not work, and we had no channel. super no ? Yes, this is Eden Palace au Lac rue du Theatre 11, Montreux 1820, Switzerland
The location of the hotel is one of the best in Montreux, just next to the promenade, perfect. We went for the cheap room here - street view. The room itself was spacious, bathroom was clean and tidy. Just a bit dated - television channels in many languages, I think is was around 5 English spoken channels. The carpet on the stairs (yellow color!) had many stains, and should be replaced. Reception team was very friendly, and good throughout our stay. The restaurant and bar serve with views over the lake and the promenade, worth a try. Be aware - the advertised pool isn't open as yet! They do offer you to go to their sister hotel - an indoor pool 10 min walk from the hotel. We stayed it that hotel last year - all fine, but unheated indoor pool. After complaining in regards to this - we booked it due to a hot weekend in Switzerland because of the pool, the booking agent and the hotel dealt with it very well. Breakfast was fine - service staff were efficient, although the buffet wasn't exciting. All very basic meats, basic breads, etc. For a four star hotel you expect at least salmon on the buffet, but he ho, it seems not every hotel serves this. All in all a fine stay - location perfect, friendly reception, dated hotel/room, breakfast ok and just be aware to check if the pool is open if you book this hotel for a pool
Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and the stay was comfortable. Nice spacious hotel with a great view and location. The train station is about 10-15 mins walking. Sweet staff at the reception. The hotel is next to the lake and the area around is way too beautiful.
we went with whole family 9 pers. 3 pers. over 85 years old. we ask to parc the car in front of the 11 free parkings but even for paying they refused that we leave the car outside the hotel. Food was nothing special and service was so terrible slow knowing that it was not even have full. All over not worse to return
This hotel is beautiful. It is a great location with great views. Be aware that it is luxury a little dated. However, enjoyable just the same. The restaurant is one my grandmother would have loved; again lovely but dated.
Great location but the hotel is looking a little dated and tired. Great views of the lake and walking distance to restaurants, the Freddy Mercury statue, river cruises and casino. There are a few stairs to get suitcases up before reception and lifts.
