Hotel Eden Palace Au Lac

Having stayed at the Eden Palace au Lac, I must say I felt cheated. On the 2nd day of arrival we went to Roches de Naye by the cog train. We had done so on our 1st ever visit 17 years ago. The weather was not good and it was like pea soup at the top. This wasn't the issue though. The issue was that we subsequently discovered that there is a travel pass which is provided by all hotels in Montreux, providing you are staying in one, On arrival and booking in we were not offered this pass, others were though. Receipt of this pass would have saved us approx £100 for the return trip for 2. We then asked at the reception and they gave us our passes without mention of a apology etc. The holiday itself was fantastic. A visit to Gstaad and Gruyere is a must. The scenery is beyond belief. My word of caution is make sure you do you homework before you leave as you can not rely on this hotel staff to provide you with what in practice you are entitled to.

We thoroughly enjoyed a nights stay here. The room was spacious and comfortable and the view simply perfect. I do agree that the carpets are a little faded but I wouldn't judge a hotel on its carpet! All the staff we encountered were friendly and professional. I would highly recommend staying here for the view alone.

Overpriced! The room was to small for a family of 4. The carpets had stains and was in really bad shape. One of the lamps next to the bed was loose and not screwed in properly. The wood under the bathroom sink was broken And some kind of BIG stain over the minibar.

We stayed in a junior suite which was great value for money. The deluxe rooms are also spacious and have AC. The service is fast and good. Breakfast is delicious. We got breakfast in the room at no extra charge. The location of the hotel is phenomenal and extremely central. The staff are very friendly. The terrace garden restaurant is very nice. Will definitely stay there again and highly recommend this hotel

It was living a dream. Heaven on Earth, you can't be unhappy in such beautiful town and in such beautiful hotel. And everyone from hotel crew was really nice and friendly. Thank you guys for an amazing stay <3

Wasnt sure what to expect after reading some reviews. But must say we really enjoyed our stay. Staff very efficient and helpful. We had a room wih a balcony and lake view. Room was spacious clean and beds very comfortable. Breakfast very good, plenty of choice. bathroom did have slight mould around edge but could be very easily rectified. Also outdoor eating area could do with bit more ambience. This is an old hotel full of character very grand. perhaps does need a bit of tlc. But we did enjoy it and would return

I reserved a room with a view for our family of 3 since April. The room we were given was on first floor with a giant tree in front of the room blocking the view. When I asked for a different room I was told all the rooms have been reserved since 2 years ago and there is no other option. They were not even willing to offer any credit since we had booked through online tools. Our concern was dismissed as invalid.......will not stay at this place again.

This hotel feels OLD - but kinda in a good way. They still use the huge old manual room keys (that you actually have to turn); so you leave them at the front desk when you go out and ask for it when you come back. The interaction with hotel staff makes the stay feel more personable. Rooms feel just as "old"; a portable A/C is provided in room. There are exterior metal roller shutters outside windows. Breakfast was quite good, in their nice Salon 1900 with "Belle Epoque decor". Across from the front desk is a reading area, with multilingual books for guests' pleasure. Nice to stay in hotels like the Eden Palace au Lac, just for a change from the cookie-cutter chains.

I'm staying here currently for two nights and my first impression is that of awe at the beauty of the place and its surroundings. We reached here last night with a missing bag pack that was lost at the train. Mr Clement at the reception not only guided us how to register the complain, but went out of his way to help us with the things which probably don't fall within his duties , despite his busy schedule. Even the morning staff was friendly and helpful. This said, there are things that the hotel needs to seriously invest in, clean carpets and new wash basins for one can do with refurbishment. The wash basins are cracked and look dirty, the carpets too are old and dirty. The nondeluxe roooms have just portable air conditioner, which is kind of surprising considering the hotel is a 4 star one. There are no tea of coffee things in the room but were provided after some persuasion. Breakfast staff was efficient and friendly. Food was so so.

My family - 2 adults, 1 child (12 years old) spent 2 nights at the hotel. The family rooms are old, outdated and need to be refreshed. Stains on the carpet, very old furniture. Breakfast was fine, but not fantastic. we have seen better. The gym is a joke. very small room and some of the equipment was not even working. the swimming pool is small and water pretty cold. Size is just enough for 1 family maybe? Nothing for kids - no activities at al.
