Grand Hotel Suisse Majestic

4.5 out of 5.0

Everything was fine except that we found out there is no provision for tea/ coffee at the room which we assumed was standard practice.

Pros: very well maintained facilities, nice restaurant with marvelous lake view, right at the center of all activities in Montreux, they give you a card with free train/bus rides and 50% off boat rides Cons: if you have a car, the parking is expensive: ~ $35/night

Stayed at the Hotel Suisse Majestic last weekend in Montreux (9/25/14-9/28/14) and it was a slice of heaven. Was given a corner room on the 4th floor with a tiny terrace but the views were stunning even if the room was small and normally sized by European standards. The room and bed was comfortable. A few more pillows would have been nice but other than that, perfect. The terrace restaurant, Restaurant 45, and its bar, Bar45bis, has the best views and ambiance in town. I also checked out the Fairmont Palace Hotel but definitely preferred the Hotel Suisse Majestic. The food is delicious and exquisite and the staff young, but friendly. Montreux is a lovely place to visit in Switzerland and the strolls around Lac Léman are a pure escape from busy city life.

Great location and staff. Only downside was using two twin beds instead of a king bed.

Beautifully situated overlooking Lac Lemain, and steps from the train station, this is a very nice hotel in the heart of Montreux. Not to be missed is the spectacular view from the hotel restaurant and bar. Rooms are nicely sized and don't fail to get one overlooking the lake and even better with a balcony.

Thanks to hosts - very polite and professional. We had fantastic dinner with our friends in 45 restorane.

The hotel is conveniently located accross the street from the train station. The staff was very nice. The room was newly refurbished and great. Its location is central and you have the ability to walk almost anywhere in Montreux. The only negatives were: 1. The key card system is outdated and a slight hassle. 2. The other negative was the restaurant. The view is amazing but the food is way overpriced and the service was dissapointing. The staff was suprisingly very young, inexperienced and unpolished relative to the menu prices. I would strongly recommend looking for other restaurants in Montreux.

Hotel was being renovated, nearly complete but not finished. Hotel controls A.C. & it's not turned on until June, both days there for us were very warm. Room had no fan. They are going to have working shades to block evening sun BUT Shades were NOT working yet, therefore the sun warmed the room even more. We had a balcony that overlooked the lake & mountains, Beautiful. But...we had to leave our doors open for air because it was so warm. They had an event & or festival going on down by the water, so.....it was noisy due to people & music. Noise most of the night. It was a Holiday weekend there. Spacious Room! No in room coffee. Big Screen T.V, nice. Very nice hotel, right across the street from the train station. Great location close to bus stops & boats & shopping. 250CHF per night no breakfast.

It was directly across the street from the train station and right on the lake in Montreaux. There where easy bus stops and places to eat everywhere. The bathrrom was newly done and I had a beuatiful balcony with old windows opening to the street below. It was one of my favorite hotels, ever.

Wonderful experience except the only meal offered on the terrace was lunch. Would have loved to eat breakfast or dinner on the terrace enjoying the unparalleled view of Lake Geneva. Also, not many restaurants in Montreux compared to most European cities, especially resorts.

Very close to all attarctions in the area

Hotel Grand Suisse was in a perfect location. Our room overlooked Lake Geneva. We had a small balcony overlooking the lake and enjoyed the view as well as nightly entertainment music from the outdoor dining patio below. Room was not very large but adequate for our needs and bathroom was fine. We could walk everywhere we wanted and took the bus to the Chateau Chillon and nearby town of Vevey. We had a lovely visit and would return to this hotel in a heart beat. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet was included in the room price and was excellent. Dinner was a disappointment. Outdoor dining and bar venues were lovely. Hotel provided a visitor's card which gave us discounts to attractions and free bus transportaation - very nice.

The hotel has old world charm and was comfortable. The room, as are all Europeam rooms, was on the small side, but was elegant. The view was wonderful and it was great to sit on the balcony. They give you a pass for free bus transportation (very convenient)and discounts on local sights. Although the hotel is very centrally located, it was very quiet. Downside- breakfast is not included and parking is expensive. Parking is at the train station (across from hotel). If you go out on a day trip it is cheaper to pay the hourly rate rather than the hotel rate.
