Hotel Lago di Garda

We decided on an impromptu trip to the town of Torbole, that rests on the north-eastern shores of Lake Garda. We’re not ever ones to book in advance, chancing it with offer and availability. On nearing Garda, we had a quick glance on google (hotels in Torbole), and plumped for a family run hotel. Early November is much quieter than the busy, hubbub of the summer months, and although their doors were open, the hotel itself was unfortunately closed. They did however, give us a couple of suggestions, one of which being the 4 star Il Lago di Garda. The reception staff that evening were delightful, and ran through some of the options that were available to us. If you’re able to plan ahead I would suggest going onto their website, where they explain the different types of packages they have, from basic standard rooms to the whole kit and caboodle. It seems they also have discounts depending on how in advanced you book your stay. Our visit included double room with balcony and view of the lake (I’m not sure whether we expected this), en-suite shower room, bottle of prosecco, welcome drink and 3 course dinner (not including drinks), all for 195€, which when broken down is pretty good value for money. The room we stayed in was modern, bright and well laid out, which is the general look of the hotel, with enough wardrobe and drawer space for a short stay. What I did love, and which was a nice surprise was the free-standing bath separate of the en-suite. I’m not usually a fan of baths (a shower girl at heart), but if I’d had the time I would certainly have made use of it. The en-suite itself is spacious, with good lighting, and a great shower, together with the usual complimentary toiletries and a decent hairdryer if needed. We couldn’t completely appreciate our lake view at this time, but once freshened up, our prosecco arrived, and we made use of the balcony, well, for a short time at least as November isn’t warm!! Maybe blankets should be at hand for the winter months?! We made our way down to the ‘Aqua Restaurant’, and took a seat in the bar area, where we were offered our welcome drink, for which we had a voucher. We were able to take our time, and could make our way to our table as and when we wanted. I’ve decided to review the restaurant separately, so please have a read, but what I can say is “compliments to the chef”!! We had a very comfortable night’s sleep, and although we had curtains, was slightly disturbed by the fluro-lighting that lit up the balcony. I discovered in the morning, there was a light switch to turn this off, and I think this is something that could possibly be mentioned once shown the room. Now, was our time to enjoy the breathtaking beauty of the lake. The expanse (it’s the biggest lake in Italy), and it’s serenity that morning was glorious, and on such a clear day, you could make out the sailboats in the horizon, or the sailing club across the shores. Breakfast is in the restaurant, with an enormous array of pastries, fruit, breads, cereals, hot food, juices and even a juicer if you wanted something really healthy. Continuously topped up, there was never any worry of anything running out. Check out is usually at 10am, but having asked for a later time, they were more than happy for us to stay till about 1pm. This is a fresh, modern, but relaxed hotel, with no airs and graces, perfectly situated to explore Torbole. My only qualm, well more my husband’s, was having to park the car further afield. Although for check in and check out, you can park directly outside the hotel reception, you do need to then park it elsewhere. Rather than opt for their parking, we decided to park in the spaces just across the way by the lake, which is free between 9pm – 9am, and when you do have to pay it’s fairly cheap. As with all my reviews, these are my own thoughts and opinions, and for us, this hotel made a last minute decision, well worth the visit.

This hotel far exceeded our expectation. First, the location was perfect, the view of our room was breathtakingly beautiful. When we arrived we were upgraded to the lake view room in the 4th floor without asking. The staff were extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful, always smiling and greeting everyone. We stayed there for 5 days and not only was the room comfortable it was cleaned daily. The restaurant in the hotel 'Aqua' was pricey but the food was great and service was also commendable. Breakfast was good, there were plenty to choose from.

Wonderful hotel and location. Excellent service both at reception and in the restaurant. The menu was so good we are there all 3 nights. Can recommend all dishes and the favourite was the ravioli with truffle. Yummmmmmmm... The sea view room with private hot tub on balcony was an extra special touch. Breakfast was excellent also with so much choice. You can offer special coffees if you fancy for no extra cost. Delightful experience from start to end. Parking is very simple. 3 options. Private hotel car park for 10 euros a Day only 5 mins walk. Or free parking only 10 mins walk. Or lastly opposite the hotel at 1.50 Euro an hour from 9am to 9pm. Free after 9pm. Ideal if you are out and about. Absolutely stunning views.... Will be back.......

This was one of the highlights of our trip to Italy. The staff at the hotel and the restaurant were amazing and extremely helpful. The upgrade of our room was a complete shocker and our mouths dropped with the magnificent view.

We can't fault our stay at Lago di Garda. The staff were lovely, attentive and offered fantastic service. The restaurant offered delicious food at reasonable prices with an incredible lake view. Our room was great and the view from the balcony offered panoramic views of the lake and mountains. We had a really lovely stay, thank you everyone at lago di Garda!

Hotel was perfect for Lake Garda. We booked a standard room but upgraded to a hot tub room on night 2 (for a small fee). Both rooms were spotless and had good amenities although the hot tub was well worth the extra with direct lake views and prosecco. The view from the hotel are great and the area is lovely. We went in late October so was quiet but we were lucky with great weather. The reception girl that helped us on Day 2 with things to do was great (I didn’t get your name; sorry). Breakfast could be improved with more hot items but was good.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Beautiful views, central location. Easy access for sailing club. The staff were very helpful and friendly. This is our first time in Italy but it certainly won't be our last. See you in 2018.

Nice clean and modern hotel. Staff very helpful and fluent in wide range of languages. Great view of Lake Garda. Good food + service in restaurant. Good access routes to northern part of the Lake + great location for water sports. Highly recommend.

The hotel is located right next to the lake and close to the ferry pier. Ms. Aurora at the reception was exceptional, impeccable service, friendly and knowledgable. The breakfast buffet is the best I have ever had throughout my 30 years of travelling. It is of the best quality, healthy and with a huge selection of bread, fresh fruits and juices, pastries, cereals, cheeses and meats! I would come back just for the breakfast! A good hotel to stay at with children as well, we stayed with bith of our children. The hotel restaurant is very good. We would definitely stay there again.

I absolutely loved torbole one of the nicest places I've been although the season ends 15th October to March and it was very quite but it was just so peaceful and relaxing. This hotel had the perfect location and breakfast overlooking the lake was amazing with a great selection of fruit yoghurt breads cheese hot buffet and pastries. Would loved to have one of the rooms with access to the hot tub but unfortunately it wasn't to be. Room service are very efficient and the rooms were basic but clean and very comfortable. The ice cream shop right beside the hotel had the most delicious ice in the resort. Beautiful place I'd love to go back!
