2 years ago we went to Lindau just to go to the Bregenz Festival. This is a spectacular occasion, with an opera, changing ever two years, and taking place ON THE LAKE!! whether you like opera or not this is an amazing experience to try. It is almost beyond words. Lindau itself if a delightful old town full of character, and lovely little cafes and shops.., it is easy walking and the harbour is lovely with ferry boats back and fore on Lake Constance frequently., and above you you will often see the Zepalin which does trips a number of times a day from near by. . The Bayerischer Hof does an opera package, which includes opera tickets, room and meals. The night you attend the opera you have an early dinner, gather your cagoule, and set off on the ferry with champagne and nibbles. The ferry picks up at one other place and then moors along side the stage. The theatre is open air, which is why you need the cagoule, but it is an absolutely wonderful experience. The stage is always different with lots of moving parts, top class performers, who are not afraid of getting wet, and all sorts of characters dangling from high wires and so forth. It is unbelievably exciting. This year was brilliant again, with the soprano lead dying under the water!! The ferry awaits you at the end of the performance and serves hot snacks and drinks on the way back. Our journey was by car from Rottach-Egern to Lindau and was estimated for 4 hours and 141 miles., however we did some detours, including Linderhof Palace. WE had previously, on our trip to Rottach-Egern stopped at Herrenchiemsee. A fabulous small Island, accessed by ferry with a wonderful castle/house, horse carriages to take you around, and places to eat etc. A superb trip and children would love it. This trip was very beautiful, some traffic holdups, but well worth the delays. The scenery was superb and a joy to drive through. The hotel is OK, not fantastic, but in an excellent position. It also has the hotel next door, which has a good restaurant with lots of seats outside. It is not the best hotel we have been to, some staff are a bit stroppy, but waitresses are very good. Breakfast buffet excellent. Do try the opera, it is one of the worlds best experiences.

This is just across from the station so no taxi needed. Lovely and bright lots of yellow in the rooms. Very clean and the breakfast was lovely, help yourself buffet. Dinner was just ok and expensive so we ate out most of the time lots of places to eat. Ask for a room at the front to see the lake wonderful. The staff at the reception desk are so nice and very helpful, any problems they will help you out. They told us were to go and how to make the most out of the few days that we stayed there.Lots to do and see. we want to go back again soon.

Come to this magnificent hotel, near the water for clean, comfortable rooms, lovely views of the water and delicious breakfasts. German service is professional and helpful but only if requests are within the familiar norm. Any minor requests outside of that, even if for a very special birthday and that would have not cost the hotel extra or been an inconvenience, could not be accommodated This is a place for a splurge.

We stayed here for 2 nights during our trip through Europe. Excellent services, amenities and location. We enjoyed our time in quaint Lindau and were in awe of the spectacular views. We stayed here many years ago, but my heart still skips a a beat when I remember our time here.

We stayed only one night, on our way to Italy. It was a perfect stop. Very friendly staff, nice breakfast buffet, beautiful view on the lake. We had dinner at the restaurant, which was nice, too. PS Tesla charging station in the garage.

A nice hotel with a perfect location. Nice breakfast buffet. The rooms are quite ok. A nice pool area with service at the poolside. Can recommend this hotel. 4/5 due to the rooms that might need some minor renovations.

Elegant lakefront location. Across the street from the train station but in the best part of town. Nice rooms and public areas we were there during a hear wave and they had air conditioning! Near many restaurants with immediate lake access.

Charming old school luxury hotel with the best location in Lindau. We stayed 3 nights in a room overlooking the harbor area, a magnificent view. As you would expect in Germany everything was spotless clean. Very spacious room and large, comfortable bed, but tiny bathroom. AC present and fully functional. Breakfast was great, very good selection of everything and top service, so nice to sit there and enjoy the view over Bodensee. Nice pool area outside, however use it early in the day, as the sun will disappear in the afternoon. All in all highly recommended - not cheap but you do get what you pay for.

My wife and I stayed two nights. The hotel is exceptional. The water front location can't be beat. We had an upper floor room with an outdoor deck and beautiful view of the harbor and lake. We could watch the boat traffic, fire work show and beautifully lit harbor at night. We ate in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner - the food was delicious. We were able to purchase boat tickets for a trip to Meersburg and the Garden Island from an office across the street from the hotel. The hotel staff were very helpful during our stay. Parking was available in an underground parking lot a short distance from the hotel. This is an excellent property in all respects and we look forward to our next visit. Lindau is a charming island with many beautiful buildings and charming sites.

i found my staybto be very plaesant. i have beeb staying at the hotel for several years now and frown familiar with it. i particularly like the cafe with the nice cakes and hot meals. worth a stop during a hot summer day. good wifi and amenities like spa, swim pool and jogging can be done around the island. just that check in time at 4pm is a little late and a bit inconvenient not to have a kettle in the room. was told it is due to regulation as hotel is old. anyway, one of the best in the area.
