We stayed here for 3 nights on the last leg of our vacation. We had views that over looked the lake. The room was clean and spacious. The front desk staff was welcoming and helpful! Great buffet breakfast every morning..We definitely would stay here again..It was so convenient to everything..The only complaint was the flat pillows, but didn't lose any sleep, over it..
I have been in this hotel several years ago and han a decent room looking at the lake. It was a bit ruined and old but at least had a nice view. This time we got a room at the renovating floor looking nowere. Recepcionist was extremely unpolite and unfriendly. As we asked to change a room he said that hotel was fully bookd. Didnt get that impression at the breakfast. He had to leave day earlier and change hotel. Breakfast was decent for a 4* hotel.
An extremely welcoming, cosy and charming hotel right opposite the lake ( and boat pier ). An ideeal choice for a relaxed comfortable stay, having an excellent view of the lake(obviously :) ), the funicular that leads up to Brunate, the surrounding towns that dot Lake como and within 7minute walk of the train station leading to Milan. Also, within 5 mins walking is the Duomo of Como, which is past the big Piazza in front of the hotel and away from the lake to the right. Its a wonderful structure with lovely stained glass windows and paintings adorning the walls and ceiling. The Metropole is ideally located to walk to most of the sights in or around the lake. The bus station or Hydrofoil to go To Bellagio is alo located nearby. Opposite the duomo are two lovely cafes that are worth a sit down and watch the people pass by. SERVICE - Superb hospitality by the entire front office staff, special mention must be made of Mirene and Elen who were extremely helpful. They also helped us organise a taxi from the hotel to our next destination at Hotel Hilton Inn , Malpensa as we had a lot of baggage. Hotel Trivia - The facade of the hotel is pretty much the same as it was in 1892 , when the hotel was built. this is a DEFINITE MUST STAY hotel in Lake Como.. Hope to return someday.
Got a room no.19 Overlooking main roadand full of light Terrible noise the whole night We couldnt sleep! This was a standard 2 star room Next day after complaining we were moved to a better Standard room Room. 19 was shabby!!! This should not of happened The next day we were exhausted I am planning to complain to BOOKING.COM Want a refund for 1 night. Always check room.s before you go in
We spent two nights here and were very pleased. Our room had two windows and a corner balcony connecting the two with a spectacular view of Lake Como. We were able to watch the water taxis come and go. Very close to restaurants and shopping. The restaurant and lounge in the hotel were also superb. The night crew in the lounge are a great group of guys. Would highly recommend this hotel.
A couple of blocks from Como train station, close to the duomo, and with excellent view of the lake. This is an aold classic hotel that has been refurbished recently. My single room was really very small, with an even smaller shower. twin rooms were much larger. The restaurant onsite is ok, as is the bar. Breakfast buffet is ok for a day or two, not much to choose from. If you have a room on the lake side you can enjoy a beatifull view, but traffic starts early in the morning, so it can be a bit noisy. If you take a room on the plaza, you have a small balcony from where you can also see the lake.
We just had one night at the Metrople, although we have an apartment on lake como we wanted to spend the day and evening in Como town without having to drive back. We really liked the Metropole, good value for money, nice staff and parking if you book ahead.
Me and my fiancé booked this hotel as we are playing on our wedding in Lake como next year. So we decided to stay at a place which was easy for our guests to travel to and from venues via the public dock via boat access. Having reached our hotel around 9pm after doing so many site visits, I went inside the hotel to ask about parking as we hired a car. Spoke to a gentleman at the front desk (Bald with glasses) the rudest person I have come across in Italy by far, asked about parking, no you can not park here go 2 blocks down park there! Like I’m from Italy and I know that. Which we did. So checked in got into our room. So unpacked our bags getting settled in. The heating in our room was not working. So called front desk to ask if someone could have a look at it. He kept saying to me don’t use the fan switch as that only blows out cold air for a/c which I knew and had to explain that the radiator is not warm at all. He hung the phone on me and left me fuming with no answer. As I was gonna leave for the front desk a engineer came up did a few checks and said it’s not working. Having paid for a double bed we got moved to a twin room with the beds pushed together. We just took it as we jus wanted to sleep. And being so cold coz of the snow we wanted a warm room (not to much to ask for). As we were checking out I wanted to speak to the manager about the inconvenience it has caused us and to ask if they would compensate for that! They deducted €5 euros a night which was a slap in the face. Having asked to speak to the manager in person he refused and shouted across his desk to his staff to give them €10 euros a night off. It was a matter of principle and the management was absolutely appalling. I have 180 guests invited to my wedding and I will not recommend 1 person to stay there. But the restaurant side and food was very nice and so were the restaurant staff.
Clean room, helpful staff, great breakfast. Right on the Lake. Take the ferry boat ride with the option to get on and off; be sure to get off at Tourno and explore "Old Italy. "Ride the incline to the top of the mountain; if energetic and young, then hike from top of incline to the lighthouse. Great views of the nearby snow covered Swiss Alps.
On arrival we checked in and went to our room. After booking a superior lakeview room with a balcony we could only see the lake by leaning right out of our room window and peering around a sign..however the bathroom was lovely. After a night in this room we enquired about the lack of lake view and balcomy. The front staff were very apologetic and had our belongings transferred to the correct room and our new room was absolutely beautiful with an amazing lake view and balcony. The staff couldn't have been more helpful! Thank you!
