There is no A/C / Low water pressure in bath room toilet and wash basin. Insects in the room. Room reconstruction going on noisy the intire stay. Room number need to be more visible before you get to your door. No maid service , $90.00 cleaning fee! Only after you leave.( Grounds people were great.) Good place if in provements are made.

We rented thru Maui Condo and Home on Orbitz. Im sure my review would be different if I had rented thru VBRO and had an idea of what our unit would be like ahead of time. No matter what unit you get - the parking is TINY. Seriously, we rented a mid sized car, and I would get out of the car before my husband pulled in, or risk spending the night unable to get out of the car. It did not help that there was construction being done on our end of the building ( water drain issues ) and 6 spaces were blocked off daily for the equipment and workers vehicles. While I understand that could not be helped, they kept the spaces blocked off all weekend even when no work was being done. The grounds were nicely kept up, the guests quiet, the laundry was large with 6-8 machines so that was a plus. The pool was small but clean. IF you ( like us) come in after dark ( ie- after about 7pm) it is hard to find your room number. It is behind the screen door, up above the key hole. ( Thank heavens others residents were just getting back from dinner and were able to point out to us where the room numbers were! Our Unit ( 102 ) is very sadly in need of TLC. Lights did not work. THe garbage disposal leaked under the sink. The furniture was so shabby it was gray. The bath tub had many grungy stickers in the tub. The doors were missing from the cabinets in the bathroom. On the positive side, we did not have to worry that we would mess anything up or break anything. And the bed was a King! And comfy!

I was really disappointed in the room and location. I was informed that we could walk down 4 steps to the beach. But it was actually 4 steps into the ocean. No baking pans were available. Dead cockroaches under the kitchen sink. No sponge to wash dishes. No beach/pool towels. And since you can't take glass in the pool area, why not have plastic glasses. Bed was very hard. Remotes did not work all the time for the TV's.

My wife and I spent our second time here in Maui at the Kahana Reef. I love it because my grandfather has always stayed here and it reminds me of him when we stay there. Also, the residents there are older, quiet and for the most part very friendly. There is no young people ruining things by being loud or disrespecting the property of the residents. We left just a day or two before hurricane Ana is supposed to roll through.

Our condo (#103) was very well equipped, clean and ready for us. We found everything we needed just at the right place. We particularly enjoyed the good quality of cutlery etc. in the kitchen. The patio was good to sit out early morning or late evening (we never spent any days in the room). We never used the pool, but it looked rather small. One suggestion: may be they should provide a few beach towels; there weren't any spare towels. The location (Lahaina) is quite far from any of the West / South activities (Hana, Halakela, Wailea, beaches at Kihei). It took us minimum 1 hr to get to center of the island before we could go in any direction. And the drive back at the end of a long/tiring day was too much. Maybe we should have stayed closer to the center of the island - may be in Kihei (too commercial) or in Wailea (too pricey).

If you get an updated unit, Kahana Reef is the place to stay at. That's exactly what we got and we were vary happy. Next time I will ask for the same unit. The owner of the unit did a great job remodeling and designing it.

nice location on water bed bugs- got eaten 10 bites-no fun scratching all the time

The condo was lovely! Could use a better bed but overall we would come back again.

We enjoyed our stay at the Kahana Reef Condominiums in Maui. We found the location to be convenient, quiet, and easy to find. We took in some of the local eating hot spots, and cooked - in twice during our stay. While in Maui we went on a dive boat charter, were lucky enough to see some wild bottlenose Dolphins. We went to Central Maui and zip-lined through the rain forest. We really enjoyed the excusion. We also rented a car (a must in Maui) and explored the Island by car. If you choose Kahana Reef Condominiums, come prepared with your own vacation plans. There is nothing to do at the property, and there is no one there to assist you - even though the signs states that there is someone in the office during business hours. PACK YOUR OWN BEACH TOWELS! If we would have known that this is purely a "condo home" with no support, we would have made our plans (Day trips & excursions) before coming to the Island. Overall, the experience was relaxing and very quiet! We would come back for another visit if and when we return. If you want parties and beach activity, this place and Maui for that matter, are not for you. We live in Thailand part of the year, and found Maui to be very clean but not as interesting as that part of the world. The food is only average at best, (with the exceptions of those that we mentioned above)and the night life lacking.

We loved the location(right on the water) and the tastefully decorated and clean condo! It was a quiet retreat, yet an easy drive to restaurants, snorkeling beaches, day trips, etc. It was so nice, that we couldn't wait to get back each day to enjoy the condo and sit on the lanai. We would go back in a minute! We stayed in #321 and it looked like the other condos were nice, too.

My husband and I have been going to Maui for the last 4 years. This time I was a little disappointed with our choice in condos. We stayed in condo 103. It says "ocean front view" on the description. Well it technically IS ocean front, however, you have to look through the wrought iron gate of the pool that is located directly infront of the patio or if you look way off to the left through some bushes you can see the ocean. The one nice thing was being able to walk directly out from the patio to the water area. There were lounge chairs all along the grass area by the water. The only beach access was at the end of the entire complex. Otherwise you could access the water down a ladder that put you right into the rocks. The room itself was well kept and clean. The TV was very disappointing. There was only one 19 inch TV in the living room. There was a TV stand mounted on the wall in the bedroom but no TV. No large flat screen TV's like the photos. The safe didn't work. The internet box wasn't working. When we called for repair on Saturday I was told the earliest a tech could come out was probably Tuesday which was half way through our trip. My husband wasn't able to do his office work the whole time. I spent the first 2 days on the phone trying to reach the management company about our issues. There isn't a manager on site.[...] I called as well and no one ever called back. Finally I reached a middle person who had no authority to help me. This person contacted the manager and relayed back to us that we "should have done more research on the property before booking if we were unhappy with the view". On the management company's website the description is deceiving so reviewing it wouldn't have helped. In the end I never was allowed to speak to a manager directly despite my request that one call me back. We were offered another "lower quality room" to move to or we could move to the complete opposite side of the island. The internet never did get fixed because they called while we were away on an excursion. In the end the only thing that the management company did to compensate us for our trouble was wave the cost of a late check out. Overall we still managed to have fun on our trip. We travel a lot and understand that things aren't always perfect in a hotel room or condo. More than the problems we had with the room, the most disappointing thing was lack of attention and concern from the management company regarding our issues. Very poor customer service. The condo was very clean and the other guests were pleasant. Once you walked around to the other side of the gated pool the view was beautiful. Just beware that if you stay here you are pretty much on your own if you have any problems with the condo.

Excellent location...my only problem was the lack of air conditioning

Plenty of space for a small family with the separate bath and bedroom. Spectactular view of the ocean from the lanai. We could see the whales swim by every day. There was no need to go on a whale watching tour.

we enjoyed our stay, we would go back. our unit was very clean and in good condition. There are many good places to eat on Front St. Kimo's was one of our favorites if your looking for authentic hawaii food, pretty drinks, beautiful surrondings.

The Kahana reef is a neat place with beautiful views of the ocean. All of the condos have an oceanside view. The condos are all individually owned so they may vary. We stayed in 415 and it was in great shape: modern appliances, countertops, cabinets and other accessories. Plus, it was clean. The laundry facility has brand new coin-op washer and dryers. Make sure to bring your quarters as there is no change machine on-site. The Kahana reef is in a quiet part of Maui, but just a short drive to the more touristy locations. We loved it and would definitely stay here again. It is an hour from Kahului airport, 15-20 minutes from Lahaina town and 35-40 minutes from Kihei.

The Kahana Reef condo we stayed in had it all. From comfort to every convenience of home. We truly enjoyed the ocean view and the sound of the waves every day. We found the property to be very clean and all the people friendly. The propoerty is very close to shopping and Lahaina. We would recommend this condo and we will be back to the Kahana Reef the next time we visit Maui.

There was not a leather couch or flat screen television. The bathtub and living area carpet were worn and stained looking. The bedding and linens were not fresh. I would not recommend the Kahana Reef.

The Kahana Reef condo was just what we wanted, off the main road but right on the ocean. We had a quiet relaxing and beautiful place to retreat to after enjoying the busy town of Lahiana. All the shows and attractions were close but not keeping us awake. The room was spotless and well arranged so it seemed larger. Everything we needed was right there waiting for us. One of the staff members was less than friendly but everthing was kept clean and neat inside and out. We will gladly book the same place upon return.

Our stay was wonderful. I loved the ground floor because we could go sit under a tree out in the lawn. The Kahana Reef is a small and quiet place. The China Boat restaurant is just across the street and has great food and service.

the kahana reef was wonderful we really enjoyed our stay our patio was right on the ocean and the trade winds kept us very comfortable.
