we spent two nights in olas del titicaca which is owned by a very friendly family. breakfast (scrambled eggs, bread, fresh orange juice, coffee/tea) is freshly prepared and served. rooms are large, clean, bright and quiet. the hostel is perfect located.
The rooms are clean. Breakast was included in accommodation package. The receptionist gave us good comfortable room, since we had altitude problems. Do not hesitate to ask them anything about Bolivia - they will probably give the best advices. They have fast and efficient laundry service.
A fair option if you are on a budget. It feels a bit run down but the bed is comfy enough for a good night sleep and there are extra blankets which kept us warm. Do not expect a dazzling service from the staff. Our room wasn't cleaned once in 4 nights and no towels or toilet paper on arrival. It is the kind of place where you have to ask for everything or you will receive nothing. A good choice and location for backpackers. We managed to negotiate a discount for 4 nights at the start which they seemed to have 'forgotten' upon checkout but a bit of arguing and we paid a fair price.
We stayed for two nights. It's pretty cold in the hostel, there are no heaters you can use in your room. The breakfast is not very much but what do you expect from a cheap hostel? The wifi for the upper floors didn't work and the other wifi doesn't always reach your room. If you are at the reception it works really good. Other than that we had three times when there was no water. When you got some, the shower is hot! There is free water by the reception to fill up your bottles, which is nice.
Only 30 Bs for a dorm bed, although we were alone in the dorm anyway. It seems like quite a big hostel but there weren't very many guests to fill it when we were there. There's a small kitchen and the showers are hot. We were given a key to our room but this was pointless as the door couldn't shut properly. No lockers either, so we had to carry out valuables around Copacabana with us. Breakfast not included.
Rooms and clean but they need of some improvements. Only two power outlets of of which one very high up next to the TV. Shower needs some improvement as well as the water temperature is controlled by pretty old electric heater on to of the shower. Breakfast was ok but nothing special (two toasts per person plus butter a bit of jam and scramble egg - yes one, nice juice and selection between tea, coffee or coca mate). Seems like you would be able to get a better deal if you come in on the day of arrival rather then booked in advance.
The whole hostel needs some improvement. The rooms are ok, but some reparements would be in place. It lakes atmosphere. The staff is not Always that happy and sometimes hard to find. Breakfast started much later than they say and was just toast with some jam. Nothing special at all
We stayed for three nights in a clean double room with private bathroom for approx $18 a night, including breakfast. The staff were very helpful and friendly throughout. The room was spacious and clean, although the double bed wasn't very comfortable; there was a dip in the middle from over use. There was also a spare bed in the room so we ended up sleeping separately to overcome this problem. However, we were generally comfortable in the hostel (chilly at night, but plenty of blankets). The WiFi was good. The breakfast was basic but fine. The laundry service was quick and efficient. They also allowed us to leave our bags when we visited the isla del sol for one night. We were woken one night by a loud drunk argument between a man and woman in the hostel, which may have been the staff/owners, but we are unsure.
This was an ok hostel to stay in. It was clean and tidy, however the most "expensive" hostel I have stayed at to date, as I decided to splash out on a private room. The lady on reception was friendly and answered all questions asked. Bed was comfortable, and wifi was good throughout the building which is awesome! There was breakfast of eggs and toast in the morning, however it would be nice to be able to help yourself to tea, coffee and hot water. You had to request this and it was slow to arrive...again as above staff where friendly I booked this Hostal as they said they had hot water, unfortunately I had a cold shower 😣 well in between cold and luke warm, this is the first hostal I have stayed and the most expensive that this has happened 😣 They had a Kitchen it was very basic and no fridge, which didn't worry me but for someone on a budget staying a few days it could be a bit frustrating, as travelling on a budget, cooking your own meals and having a fridge is helpful. Also, check out time was 1030hrs to 1100 hrs on my booking however at 0900hrs I had someone banging on my door asking when I was going to check out, I wasn't feeling well so had set an alarm to wake up at 1000hrs making sure I had plenty of time for check out. So slightly annoyed that I had to be asked, ha ha best was yet to come in regards to the booking!! DOUBLE CHECK if you book on the internet, with reception as to them confirming your booking!! This morning I received an email from booking.com saying... "Hostal Olas Del Titicaca has notified us that you did not arrive on the check-in date and as a result, they have cancelled your reservation" with a total cancellation cost of $16! Strange as they wanted me to check out so fast, banging on my door to ask what time I would be leaving!! My review on booking.com I would recommend staying here a night, this was before Olas del Titicaca charged me for a no show. The over charge is my reason for the 2 rating (poor) and not 3 rating (average) Sorry, I struggle to recommend after the double charge, however if you do stay and you book over the internet make sure that they obviously don't charge you as a no show!!
I didn't see the private rooms with ensuites because I slept in a dorm of 4 beds but no one else was in it. Had a shared toilet with no loo paper. Hostel provided no towel and in the morning no breakfast. One power point in the whole room because the 8 were disconnected. Wifi password not provided on check in and no one at reception to ask later.
