GOOD Points : Not very expensive hotel, good location at 15 minute leisure walk (1km) to centre. Free Parking - hotels nearer the centre has no parking or paid public parking. Very comfortable beds. BAD points - Room 713 smelled bad! When you enter, there is a bad smell. Of course, you will get use to it so the effect is the 1st 15 minutes. Breakfast was not as good as I thought given you can ask for fresh cooked eggs (scrambled, sunny side up, etc). But mine was soggy no salt. Juice was Ok, sausage was low quality. Sweet croissants, "escargot de raisin", pain au chocoloat are a poor attempt.
The website booking the hotel does not tell you that the pool closes in October, Oh well, but then edits the review to omit this , hmm. Staff friendly and competent.Out of season one guy mans the bar, coffee bar, snacks etc I have no idea what a meal is like, never saw any sign of the restaurant in operation, but the breakfast was outstanding. Brilliant location just outside the quaint streets to go into the medieval area. There are some local Spanish bars etc to explore. The room was always clean and everything worked flawlessly.
We spent a happy 2 days here, with a comfortable room. It was a good walk into town along a noisy, busy road, but the walk ended in a lovely park just before the town centre. In a town where parking would be a problem, there was sufficient free parking right in front of the hotel. There were plenty of restaurants & cafes nearby. We found a great one for a bargain delicious breakfast.
Comfortable Hotel but our stay was slightly spoilt by being unable to sleep properly because of the room temperature. When I complained to reception I was told that they were unable to do anything about it as it took two days to turn the air conditioning back on. A fan was also not available to alleviate the situation
A nice big room with a good size bathroom appeared when I opened the door, bit cold but looks good to begin with. Breakfast the next morning was great, friendly staff and a nice display of breakfasty sort of items. Check in staff dealt easily with arrival and departure and even the internet works what can be wrong. The rooms are so cold at night, adjusting the heating thermostat does nothing as I guess it's an air conditioning but otherwise a nice hotel. I recommend, bring a plug in heater and you will be fine. 15 minutes walk to old town. Lots of cafe/restaurant around it. Supermarkets in direction of old town about 5 min walk. Hospital ten minutes walk in opposite direction.
Stayed here for 2 nights with Travel Department Tour, very nice bright accommodation, near mediaeval centre brisk 15minute walk. Taxi to cathedral only5 euro.breakfast was o.k.evening fare not great, but there are plenty of cafes nearby.Decent enough hotel.
Stayed here Friday to Monday as we had a wedding to attend. We were very pleased to be told our rooms were ready when we arrived at around 11am rather than the 3pm we had expected. Tired after an early start the staff checked us in quickly but gave us only one card for the room. We were on the sixth floor and found the lifts compact especially with luggage. Sadly the fireplace in reception next to the lifts was covered by a screen and there was a big hole behind it so maybe not the best view. On entry to room 607 we found it light, clean and spacious benefitting from a laminated floor. This room overlooks the pool but has no balcony. Surprised by a monetary deposit request for the safe we decided against using it. The room card operates the electric so each time my husband went outside, I lost electric! The beds were large, crispy, clean and comfortable with two narrow continental pillows. As expected no tea or coffee making facilities but there is a large fridge and minibar. The tall fridge kept our milk fresh all weekend. (We took a kettle etc) on entry to the bathroom, the tiled floor had a large crack across it. The bath was old but serviceable. Toiletries were only replenished once during our three night stay but towels were plentiful and the room cleaned daily. Good sized grundig flat screen tv. Air con was reasonably quiet. Noise from adjoining rooms can be heard but it didn't bother us, however the curtains aren't that thick and the room was in twilight all night. Breakfast was served 7:30 -11am and was inclusive in our deal. Good choice of food, fresh and hot. Beverages served via machine and there were jugs of fresh fruit juice. Various different breads, cold meats and usual cereals etc. English breakfast could be ordered and cooked upon request. Sadly nothing to bring milk to table for tea or adding to cereal. Plenty of tables and no over service. Good spaces to sit and relax, two Café bars and a pc area to work if necessary. There is a swimming pool but it didn't look as clean as it could have been from our room although people were swimming. My husband visited the garden and this is arranged in tiers, great that it has shade for hot days. Staff are friendly and hardly seen. Helpful with our broken Spanish when we ordered taxis for airport return journey. It was a little sad that this was not a luxurious as I had expected, friends stayed in the old town in a basic hotel and were just as happy. Other friends that stayed in our hotel had things go wrong, one had the loo break and the other had squeaky laminate! None of us were wowed for the price but it did the job. I would have been very disappointed if was a main holiday hotel. 15/20min walk uphill to the Old Town.
The hotel is an average one, but very clean. Parking is complicated. Breakfast is nice. It is relatively close to the center of the city where the cathedral is.Front desk team is really nice and helpful. Nothing bad to say.
Plus points : - location - free parking - gym (could have been cleaner) - there are a number of bakeries and coffee shops nearby - easy to reach by car - room amenities are good - very clean, rooms as well as corridors - a decent lobby - king size bed! Minus points : - no breakfast (in our booking) - the limited time and conditions to use the swimming pool Overall this is a very good to stay in Santiago, and they have big beds-something that not many hotels in Spain have.
The hotel is well located 15 min walk to the cathedral and medieval center. The breakfast are outstanding do not miss them. Rooms are nuce and well kept. The parking is somewhat límited but there is another parking nearby.
