New Miyako Hotel

3.5 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

The New Miyako Hotel is located across the street from Kyoto Station, making it very convenient for us to travel around Kyoto by bus and to Osaka and Tokyo by rail. Kyoto Station has many shops and restaurants, allowing us to shop and dine easily. The hotel was very well-maintained. We found the staff very gracious, hospitable, and helpful. At check-in, we were conducted to our room by a bell person who then introduced us to the features of the room; this was a luxury we had never experienced before in our travels. The reception staff was superbly efficient, making our check-in and check-out a breeze. They provided my daughter bills for her coins and extended our checkout time when requested. The buffet breakfasts at the LE PLAISIR restaurant were great. The food was fresh and delicious, featuring a variety of American and Japanese dishes. In sum, we had a great stay at the New Miyako Hotel, which made our experience in Kyoto so enjoyable. We highly recommend it to all travelers who are planning a trip to the great city of Kyoto.

Excellent hotel. Hard to get a reservation for all 12 days I was here, but I kept trying and with 5 separate reservations finally managed it. It's right across the street from the Kyoto train station. The prices ranged from 125 to 197 with an average of 145+. It's a beautiful room and very comfortable. It's in the new section, so I have no idea of how the older section would be. Info: no body lotion, very firm bed like a futon, but normal height. Wonderfully modern and functional bathroom if a bit small. Two easy chairs and a desk with chair. Would definitely stay here again in spite of the hassle of finding a free room. I can see why it's so in demand.

Lovely room in good condition. Not luxury, but well maintained, small, but comfortable. Outstanding bathroom. No body lotion or coffee but everything else you could want. Great price, good buffet breakfast and to me a non-Japanese speaker access to the station is fantastic.

Great location, near Kyoto station. Very convenient for getting around.

Large and decent if impersonal hotel. It is close to the main train station and a couple of malls, but it is not very cose to many Kyoto attractions and is a busy part of town. Room rates are a bit pricey and do not include breakfast. Breakfast is rather expensive at ~$20/day. The lobby is a bit of a zoo every morning around 9AM and afternoon around 3PM with large number of guests checking in/out. Lots of groups as well. Luggage can pile up in the lobby.

Comfortable clean rooms and walking distance to everything Will always come back to this hotel

Very convenient location right near train station.

Returned for a third time and was not disappointed. Professional and courteous staff, excellent location, and discovery of the new shopping mall right next-door was a definite plus! We will return!

Stay accross from the train station. Good location...

Friendly staff, clean (but small as per Japan standards), and overpriced restaurants. Pretty standard Japanese hotel. Selling point is its right next to Kyoto station. Would stay again for the right price.

Great location for touring and great location to catch train.

New Miyako Hotel at Kyoto Station is our first choice when staying in Kyoto. The location is perfect and the staff is friendly and accommodating.

This hotel is located very close to the train station, on the side with the shikansen. The train station is quite large, and for the subway, you must cross to the other side. Our room was slightly small by North American standards, but did not feel cramped and had plenty of room for our luggage. The bed and pillow are firm, which is my preference. WiFi was reasonable and plenty of amenities are provided. For breakfast, the line-up was always long for the mixed Western/Japanese buffet. One day we went to the Western breakfast, which was OK without being excellent.

I really think we lucked out with our choice of hotel stats in Kyoto. The hotel was so convenient for all that we wanted to see and do in Kyoto. The staff was friendly and helpful for all our requests. We only used the hotel for sleeping so I can't speak for any ong the amenities. The room was clean and comfortable and that was all that mattered to us. We would certainly stay there again.

Literally cross the street from southwestern entrance, and you are at the hotel. You can store your bags if yoiu arrive early (or leave late), no cost as of this review October 2014.

Recommendable. Of course not first class. But very good.

Everything worked - parking good - professional service but not in English- pice and effort in a good relation - not high class in all points

Great Location, Staff was helpful and courteous. Good food in hotel, and also many more choices across the street at the mall attached to the train station. Better deals for food could be had outside the hotel. My only real complaint was the lack of a gym in the hotel. I found one open to the public called "21" near a large temple, but it opened after 9:30 am. Found the nearby Cube shopping center had a theatre with many steps (approx. 150 steps) to a viewpoint - that became my ultimate stepmaster. Trains and buses just 7 min walk from hotel can take you anywhere from the Osaka airport, to city sightseeing. Did not try subways, so cant comment.

Older hotel with large rooms, in comparison to other Japan hotels.

The New Miyako Hotel (which, actually, is written in Kanji and katakana and is called "Shin-Miyako Hoteru") is in a great location - right behind Kyoto Station. It is convenient for the Shinkansen, JR, Kintetsu, Subway, and other lines. The hotel did not have many free amenities, but it did have reliable free wireless and was very clean. It wasn't cheap, but it was a good value anyways!
