Great location, very friendly staff, cool vibe at their cigar bar, but the room is very small. They have laundry facilities downstairs that was very convenient but the dryers take multiple cycles and a lot of time and Yen to get the clothes dry.

Th bed was rough. My girlfriend woke up with a headache every morning.

The hotel is within a block of Kyoto City Hall. The area is well connected by buses. One can travel to Kyoto's shrines and Gion area by taking a bus from right in front of the hotel.

Location is good with a subway 3 mins away. However, the room is so tiny, you can't find a place to put a second luggage without blocking walking area. Also, the bathroom has low ceiling...

The hotel is in a great location with the river, canals, subway and restaurants close by. It is an easy walk to Gion district. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Rooms were clean and comfortable.

Excellent location. Easy access to restaurant and stores. Cant be better

We were in Kyoto for just one night and did not need wi-fi so I really can't rate that. All other areas of the stay were fine. We wanted to take the bus to the Golden Pavalion and they had a ready made sheet on the bus number and location stops.

Our stay at the hotel was very pleasant. Everything was perfect - clean rooms, tasty breakfast, perfect location, and very helpful staff. We would recommend it to all of our friends.

My room here was pretty spacious by Japanese standards. In Tokyo my room was much, much smaller. The bed was comfortable and so were the pillows. The hotel was close to many restaurants and attractions. My only complaint is regarding the restroom. The restroom is not level with the room floor so I almost tripped on it twice.

The hotel is located in a fairly good place--with metros and buses but not as convenient as everyone says. You still have to walk about 10 mins to actual useful metros. However, that really wasn't an issue. They did not have a knowledgeable full time concierge or a concierge desk so it seemed like bell staff was offering help on activities. No one was able to help us make reservations to restaurants or activities we were looking for. Whenever we pushed for help, the front desk and bell staff gave us information that was very confusing or misleading. I found that it was annoying that they only had one entrance/exit through the front or only through the largely unused restaurant. The entrance is not street-side so we have to walk to the middle of the block to enter and the hotel elevators were all near the street. Just extra wasted steps when you've been walking all day. (I know this is very nitpicky but I'm giving real experience comments.) It is true that many key buses stop right next to the hotel so that was a plus. It is a block away from one of many shopping blocks so finding food and cafes were convenient. We picked this hotel a bit last minute so we didn't have too many options. Next time in Kyoto, I would definitely plan ahead and find a hotel closer to the JR rail a few blocks south.

The location is good for shoping but very difficult To arrive with public transpory

they have some dumb spa on the top floor and if you get stuck up there you have to walk around the entire building to get to your room. it is so stupid. Also, my room was TINY. The people that worked there were cool though.

It's a good hotel, everything is going well except the wifi... Location is nice to shopping, a lot of bus and subway near the hotel. There is a airport shuttle station at 5 mins walk away.

the room lacked the most basic reading lights in bed. maybe its not a japanese habit to read in bed before sleeping but its critical to us

This hotel is at a great location for exploring Kyoto on foot. Many nice restaurants near by (along the river). The room was quite small, no place for 2 suitcases (we left one on top of on of the chairs). Breakfast buffet is so-so, basically it's better to go for breakfast in a nearby cafe. All in all it's a nice hotel, clean rooms, comfortable beds, friendly staff, but price-value ratio is quite high (guess this is due to Kyoto being so popular).

Having staff that speaks English was very helpful and appreciated. The staff was great. We enjoyed our stay...the hotel is situated close to bus stops, subway/train stations, restaurants and shopping. The only thing that was not great... the hotel has central air-conditioning, that when the vents are open always blows the same temperature. You can only control the fan speed, not the coolness. We would have liked a cooler room temperature however, we were still comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.

NICEST STAFF, GREAT BRKFST REST & STAFF. THIS HOTEL EARNS ITS STARS. WISH THE ROOM HAD MORE SPACE AND SOAP BY THE PIECE. WE DON'T KNOW WHAT GERMS STAY IN THOSE SOAP AND SHAMPOO HANDLES

The staff was great, the room was clean with fresh robes/slippers every day and a nice city view from the 9th floor. By western standards the walls are a little thin, the beds a little firm and the bathroom is a little odd. No in-room safe but free safe deposit boxes in the lobby. In-room tea but no coffee so bring instant if you want. All minor flaws that I can easily overlook at this price. If our room had been a tent on the roof I’d still give it five stars just for the location! Kamo Riverwalk, Teramachi St. and Pontocho Dining are less than a 5 minute walk away. You can load up the in-room refrigerator at Fresco market just across the river and north. Kawaramachi Sanjo bus stop (8-10 different routes) is at the hotel. Kyotoshiyakusho-Mae (City Hall) subway station is less than a minute walk and the Sanjo subway station takes about 5 minutes. If you’re using an IC card for the buses and subways, you can reload it across the street at 7/11. If you take the Airport Limousine Bus (KATE) from KIX make sure to get on one that stops at Kyoto City Hall. The stop is just west of Teramachi St. and a 2-3 minute walk from the hotel. If you use the trains/subway from KIX to Kyotoshiyakusho-Mae station turn left out of the turnstiles. The exit by Cascade Bakery (a daily stop for us) is the closest to the hotel but it has stairs. Through the glass doors is an escalator that pops up across the street from the hotel. The hotel even has bicycles available. Really a great place to stay and explore Kyoto.

The location of the hotel could not have been better. The room charge was very reasonable. The place was very clean as I expected it would be. IN my next trip to Kyoto I will again stay at the hotel.

The hotel locates just out side the subway station. Easy to find and easy to commute via bus or subway to other stops. There is an currency change atm in the lobby, which is very convenient for us. The staffs can commute with English. The room is small, but very clean. Over all, I would recommend this hotel to anyone who travels to Kyoto.
