The hotel is located just few minutes walk from the Shijo-Omiya station and 15 minutes walk from the shopping area Kawaramachi. The randen tram station A1 is just around the corner with easy access to the great attractions. We got a big nice room for four persons. You sleep on futon beds on the floor but very comfortable. Clean and nice classic Japanese deco. Good free wifi and a pleasent onsen area on 1 floor. Cheap laudromat. The staff is not very good at english but try to help the best they can. Few good restaurants in the area, Tully's if you want good coffee and bread and a must is to try Donguri.
Rooms are small, but clean. Basically no facilities other than a few vending machines. Location is about 100m from train station, but there is really nothing much else to do within walking location. I would regard the location as good. Staffs are friend and polite. There is a public bath on ground floor, but nothing fantastic. No restaurant, no cafe. Car park is not within the facility, but about 200m away in a public car park.
Location: pretty good like 10 mins away from Kyoto station taxi cost around 1000yen. Public bus around 400 yen Hotel: it was spacious. Clean and public bath is amazing Staff: everyone can speak English and Ms eriguchi help me to book Disney land tickets. She is amazing and very efficient. Thank you so much we had a great stay. Will definitely recommend to friends and family.
We stayed here for 4 nights in June during a recent visit to Kyoto. The hotel is right next to Shijo-Omiya station. The hotel rooms are not very big - they are japanese style with tatami mats and futon beds. Breakfast is served in a bento box (different every day but usually contains rice, fish, fried chicken). Pros There are several buses that can take you to all the sites in Kyoto. Bathroom on first floor is all high tech Easy access to trains, buses. You can even walk to Gion, Nijojo Several places to eat close by. The ramen place next to McD rocks Large screen TV (60 in) 7-11, ATMs near by. Cons Rooms are small, barely fit 4 beds. Have to change 2 trains to get here from Kyoto station Overall, for the price it was a great choice - would definitely stay here again
It wasn't easy finding a reasonably priced hotel with a good location for a family of 5 during cherry blossom season in Kyoto. Thankfully, we found Village Kyoto. The room fit all 5 of us in a traditional Japanese style room. The room was pretty small and with the tatami beds all laid out, you will have very little space to move around. But the location is perfect. Just one stop away from Pontocho and Gion area. And the nearby station is along the train line going to Osaka. The Japanese bento box breakfast was also a nice touch.
We took the train from Umeda station in Osaka to Omiya station in Kyoto. The hotel is just barely 3 minutes walk from Exit 5 at Omiya. The hotel was a good base for us to do our visits around Kyoto as it was next to the Omiya and Shijo-Omiya stations (different lines). The room was no fuss - tatami-style - which also meant no issues fitting us (4 pax) in as you arrange the bedding as you wish. There was a laudromat on 6th floor - jpy200 per wash, jpy100 for 30mins for the dryer. We had included the bento box breakfast for our room - the hotel arranges for a different bento every morning, so was also a good intro to the breakfasts the locals eat. There is a smallish onsen on the ground floor - great after all the walking during the day.
Was quite disappointed by the hotel initially. Receptionist at check in wasn't very friendly and this was the first time after so many trips to Japan I was disappointed by the lack of hospitality and warmth in the tone of the service staff. And after being told I had to set up my own futons for my entire family... I thought I was set up for a major disappointment for the two nights. Coupled with given a room without windows... But I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked the hotel in the end. Location is good for us as we were only spending two nights in Kyoto. For the first day we just needed to take a bus down a few bus stops to Nishiji Market and Kiyomizudera. For the second day we went to Arashiyama and the train station was just opp the hotel. Convenient! Breakfast at the hotel was a packed bento delivered at the time agreed between hotel and us. Loved the items packed in the bento. Maybe for some it would take a while to get used to the breakfast but my family loved the eel, saba and fried chicken with the rice and other Japanese condiments. Room without window? Turned out to be a blessing in disguise as it provided total darkness for a good night rest. Hotels before this all had sub standard black out curtains and thus kids were all awake by 7.30am. Here... blissful sleep till 9! Yeah! Downside... public bath can be better. I agree for the price this bath is not bad but amenities at the bath can be improved.
We stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel is conveniently located near Omiya Station (Hankyu line). There's another nearby train station by Randen, too. We were able to visit many places of interest without much hassle. There are many restaurants and drinking places around the hotel. We particularly love Piccolo Giardino (own by local Japanese) which is located within walking distance. The hotel has English speaking staff which are very helpful and the Public bath is clean. It was soothing to soak in the hot bath after walking around whole day. The bento breakfast was good and we can choose the delivery timing to suit our schedule. The room was comfortable size for us. Room is clean up and towels replaced daily. We will definitely come back again.
This is a Japanese style hotel contains large rooms. Three of us (2 adults and 1 child) stayed in a room with a double bed and futons. A traditional Japanese bento box was included in the price for breakfast. There was even the facility of public baths though the room also had it's own private bathroom. Everything was very clean. The location is great, very close to train station (although not a JR station) and buses. Many great restaurants and convenience stores are within walking distance. I would definately recommend staying here based on the quality and price. Next time we are in Kyoto, we will be staying here again.
Kyoto Village Hotel was like 15 minutes' walk to the Zion geisha district. The room was spacious and clean. Four of us could sleep comfortably, though it was still a tatami room with thick mattresses on the tatami. We could even launder our clothes in the Laundry Room. The overall decor was modern and fresh and the reception area had sofas to sit on. Breakfast wasn't so good though. We had trays delivered to our room and the pre-packaged food was cold and instead of hot tea, we were given gassy drinks in cans.
