Driving into Opatija is a treat because, after you've driven along the high ridge, you come down the hill through lovely streets onto the waterfront and harbor of this beautiful austro-hungarian 18- 19th century spa-resort town. There is an unbelievable number of hotels and spas in this town we chose the Kvarner because it is adults only, on the waterfront, and absolutely fabulous! When was the last time you had the extravagance of going to an adults-only hotel? For the two nights we were there a French Symphony was in residence, practicing. How lovely to have that as background music during the day. The rooms are spacious and gracious; ours had a view out onto the Adriatic with a little tiny terrace and two chairs off floor-to-ceiling frenchdoor/windows. While there are indoor dining rooms and spaces we took advantage in the fabulous summer weather of all the outdoor eating and dining spaces on the incredibly expansive terrace high up on the foundation over the sea. Next to the eating terrace there's a raised terrace that's used other for performances or dancing of the nights we were there it was meant to be a jazz singer but she got rained out just as she was setting up. We have heard the spa there is very special but we did not take advantage of their services I did note that it wasn't expensive. In the evening there is always a complimentary cocktail the night we were there on the terrace it was a gin and tonic that was cucumber infused. Breakfast is included every day and has everything you could ever want, even cooked-to-order. We did not eat dinner there because we arrived too late the first night, having had dinner in Novigrad. The second night,, having had lunch at our suuning lounges on the water, we chose to walk down along the waterfront to the next town of Volosko and have dinner. Definitely would go back

Stayed 2 weeks there. Couldnt have chosen better. Right by see front with private beach. Had top floor room with superb views. Band playing most night on the terrace. Very good breakfast. Dinner could be much improved however so ate out every day. A lot of non customer jump the barrier and climbed down to the beach quite annoying. Something should be done about this.

Beautiful buildings and location with good swimming into sea off concrete jetty. Good well air conditioned rooms with nice sizes and very good hallways commensurate with renovated 19th century structure. The location and hotel are super. Some drawbacks: service average overall and not sufficient management of breakfast or sea swimming area with some shortage of sun beds. Outweighed by beautiful scenery and location.

Beautifully restored, clean hotel on the beach with a wonderful little park. Central location but perfectly quiet. (At least in the pre-season it was) Pleasant sized rooms and bathrooms. Beautiful terrace for breakfast and dinners. Separate private beach, indoor and outdoor pool. We had a balcony room with nice views. Delicious and generous breakfast. Nice staff, and a nice greeting. We're sure to come back !! We had a nice surprise; a wonderful Easter breakfast in the Crystal Hall. Special thanks to the hotel's management and to the hotel's staff for the beautiful heart-soul breakfast!

Very very nice hotel on the beach. Service was great, food was excellent ( breakfast + dinner ), nice swimming pool, nice place on the beach. Surely a place to remember, I will be back. View from the rooms is outstanding!

We didn't stay in this hotel this time, and I really regret that. We will come back for sure. While taking a walk by the sea with my partner, we decided to have a coffee in this hotel. We love good coffee! I have to say, we were there while they were serving breakfast to the hotel guests, but we didn't wait that much for the coffee, anyway it was really nice of the waitress to apologies for the delay. The coffee was really good, the music is trendy, easy, just perfect for an easy Sunday morning. And the view, oh, i could sit there all day from sunrise to sunset.

If I could give Kvarner 10 stars I would. We got married here on July 8 and had friends and family from all over the world staying between Kvarner, Amelia, Palace Bellevue and Hotel Imperial. Everyone was absolutely in love with this hotel, the views, the service, the history behind the hotel and the impeccable food. The Director, Sandra, was incredible throughout our entire wedding experience ensuring all of our guests were taken care of but that also other guests staying at the hotel were not too disturbed by our wedding events such as fireworks. The team lead by Domijan prepared an unforgettable evening of dinner, drinks, laughter and dancing, all supported by his incredible team. They went above and beyond with the suite that we stayed in with the most breathtaking rooms. I cannot wait until the next time I get to be here again. Highly recommended for couples looking for a romantic trip or a family coming together. You will not be disappointed!

We were there for 2 days and ended up adding one night. Everything was great: location, view, food, service. The view is incredible, breakfast is everything you are looking for, rooms are great... We do recommend it, you will not be disappointed

Lovely hotel well situated on the sea front. Room was spotless with lovely views from the balcony. Staff were very friendly and helpful. During our visit the hotel was very busy and breakfast was a bit of a let down especially if you asked for an omlette, poached eggs or something simular as it was a let down when it finally arrived. Everything else about the hotel was fabulous, just improve the breafast quality and service.

Stayed here for a few nights in a premium room (106). Great room with balcony and sea view. Old world style hotel, spotlessly clean. Excellent breakfast and great service. A most relaxing place, wonderful terraces and small pool. Not the cheapest place in Opatija but good value for money.
