When you first walk up the steps to reception your first impressions are "wow" the high ceilings and grand entrance are impressive at first, until your eyes linger for longer and you notice just how dirty everything is! Check in was pretty smooth, we were shown to our room and after reading the reviews I was very apprehensive. It's safe to say the reviews do not lie. The room was very run down, dirty and things were broken e.g the back of toilet, sink tap. Bedding was worn and blood stained (see photo!) staff didn't really seem to be aware/care in the slightest. I left my personal towel out to dry on the balcony and in the night it blew away. When we tried explaining to the staff the towel was somewhere in the resort we were met with glazed expressions and no one really seemed interested to help/care. We were told numerous times by the staff "we don't understand you" when trying to ask for help which was quite frustrating. Luckily the pool bar tender came running up to our room 5 mins later with the towel! I can't comment on the breakfast as we didn't have it however there's a really nice cafe called "Lanta Cafe" not a 5 min walk down the road. The Maladee restaurant opposite is indeed very good too. Location is good, close to the beach and town which was very handy too. Overall I would not choose to stay in this hotel again, there are definitely nicer places to stay in Koh Lanta.
Staff is good, very willing to help. Reserved spa room only to discover the outside spa pool didn't work, & water stank. Second floor can see into your private space. So much for privacy. Quality of room very poor, run down, requires much maintenance and updating. Do not believe the photos on web site. Location is for central location. Approximately 15 min walk to a beautiful, large, clean, powder white beach. Rent a scooter for easy access to restaurants and other beaches. Pool is used most days for scuba diving training.
This resort is well placed island wise. However the staff are sullen and perhaps underpaid. The room we were given was not properly made up. It was done after we asked for it. Rates are a bit on the high side for the service provided. There are better options available nearby.
Our visit to the Pilanta Spa Resort was overshadowed by being ripped off by the kaw Krang Resort. Pilanta Resort is a pleasant 3 star Resort with a 5 Star Service, the rooms are in good order, the staff are friendly and cordial. We'd stay again as a go between.
We stayed for 5 nights at Pilanta, mostly because it was nonrefundable. While the hotel itself was fine, the pool was a great addition and we splurged for the mini pool off our room, the rest was just okay. It wasn't too close to the beautiful beaches, but convenient to Saladan and pickup for a snorkeling tour. The younger gentleman who often drove us to our destination was a gem. He went out of his way when we named a specific we were thinking of to stop at the door, some of our tuk tuk drivers just stopped in the general beach vicinity. However, we booked our snorkeling tour through the front desk, specifically WITH a brochure for Opal Speedboats from their collection (after yelp reviews too!) and they booked up with another company. We realized it when they came to get us but that woman didn't speak English very well and we had paid so we said "f it, let's go". We had fun, but were disappointed we didn't get to do the 4 spot snorkeling we had hoped. It's not super updated, but it's not disastrous! Also, depending on who's manning the desk depends on how much you'll get assistance from the staff.
We stayed at Pilanta for 5 nights. I think you can do better for the price on Ko Lanta. It is very rough around the edges. The first room they showed us had a rear sliding door that opened up to a probably 10 foot drop with no stairs. It was like they forgot to build the stairs. Also the front part of the sink had fallen onto the floor and shattered. My 22 month old child is very active so the rear sliding door was a no go. If I had not already prepaid I would have moved to another hotel. They moved us to a ground floor room and the lock on the rear slider to the mini pool that didn't look like it had been cleaned in ages didn't work so we had to ask someone to fix that too. That said, the staff was very nice and accommodating and the breakfast was not terrible.
I enjoyed the stay in the pilanta resort the manager did each time take the time to help us to guide us or book trips for us. Very friendly staff clean room bath is a plus ;) Transfer to and from well organized Thank you
We stayed at this hotel once before and was really pleased with the cleanliness of the rooms - I have to say that 18 months on and we were very disappointed. The whole resort needs an update but most importantly bedding and towels need an upgrade. We found these to be worn and what was white is now a grimy grey. A real shame as the resort has much potential but having visited Koh Lanta many times there are far better hotels to stay in.
Dont be fooled by the photos! Either they were photoahoppwd to look better than i5 is or were taken when first built. The place is dirty, unkept, decor which looks so old, towels falling apart and cockroaches to top it all off! i cannot understand how it can have a 4 star rating?? I wouldnt recommend it to anyone.
Before we booked our stay I did read the reviews on here and I thought it can't be that bad, but it did prove me wrong. We stayed in the deluxe rooms with private pool and jacuzzi. For the money we paid it defo wasn't worth it. It needs updating alot ! The decor was awful, have to run the bath/shower for about 10minutes to even get hot water through. The bed sheets felt dirty, they had stains all over them (blood marks) I thought the dinner here wasn't nice at all. And the breakfast is different everyday, I'm not sure I would want to eat curry for breakfast! Personally. This is the most expensive hotel we've stayed in in thailand and we've stayed in quite a few because we travel, and I'm sure it's down the bottom of the list ! Don't waste your money thinking your getting luxury because it isn't - shame! One thing I would say is the people at reception are friendly!
