I recently stayed at Lanta manda for 4 nights, check in was smooth, staff were friendly and very helpful. The rooms are big, pretty basic but has everything you need, the showers were pretty poor hardly any pressure but still done the job. Resturants/cafes and bars on your doorstep, short walk to the beach, great location all round. Would look at staying here again if I returned to Lanta
Large, clean spacious rooms and nice gardens. 2 minute walk to beach. Hired scooters from reception for a good price. Friendly staff, always willing to help. Paid half price on a accommodation website, wouldnt pay any more then 1500 baht a night. Breakfast options of eggs, omelette, pancakes all great. Stay away from fruit as it wasnt fresh and perhaps made us sick.
I had a good time at lanta manda resort. the bagalow was nice. the respetionist was were helpful and friendly, he even helped me when i had problems with a hotel in phuket by calling them. he was always around and asked us anytime if he could help us with anything. the aircondition was a little bit difficult some times, but thats it.
We stayed 2 weeks - one family with two toddlers in June 2017. What I liked: 1) The staff is super-friendly! Especially with kids. 2) Each room is a detached small house. Guests doesn't disturb one another. But actually we were the only guests. 3) Room cleaning is done every day. + free bottled water 4) In the bathroom the shower is separted with half-wall and curtain from the toilet and sink, so no puddles of water under your feet. Even heater is so small it works fine. 5) 7-eleven is across the road. 2 pools (but bigger one can be difficult to find without staff help). 6) WIFI was perfect! Disadvantages: The ambient of the hotel works both ways. On one hand it is pleasant that around the rooms there are bushes and flowers and whole territory is surrounded by the forest, but at the same time monkeys can appear and other animals and insects. In two weeks we saw goanna, snake (not deathful luckly) and two scorpions. TV at our room had bad signal at all channels - the picture was noisy (althought who needs TV in Thailand?) Only 3 plug sockets in the room and among them only one is near the bed. The mattresses are hard. TV is very old tube (see photo). A little renovation of the rooms would be great. There are cut-outs between the door and floor (after our comment the staff filled it up) and near the window - so geccos are always inside the room (but they are friendly and eat mosquitos, so we didn't mind) together with different insects.
Pro's: Nice quiet area Room was big Cleaned everyday Big pool at the back pretty much to yourself Cheap motorbike rental Friendly staff Cons: Lots of mosquitos - buy a plug repellent Room needed a deep clean Geckos in and out through small holes in ceiling AC kept leaking and making crazy noises at night Terrible smell in bathroom
We arrived around 22:00 on the 11th. We pulled in front of the check-in office, it was closed. As I exited my vehicle, a man walked toward the office, opened the door, went in and just looked at us. Only thing we could not see was a smile nor a greeting on his face. We knew he had to be the receptionist as he was standing behind the counter, but he kept starring at us. We were very tired and as a " genius" member, we were expecting some sort of "welcome" drink or something, yet not only we didn't get that, let a lone a simple smile! I was appalled by all that, I was about to change my mind about staying there. I tried to use " not having enough cash with us" as an excuse and stay for only one night as it was late. But the guy said that we couldn't just stay for one night and that we had to pay for the four nights we reserved. Only smart thing he said was, that we could pay the next day if we did not have the money. At that point, I thought considering Songkran hollidays and all places being full, we may not be able to get any where else. So, we ended up paying for the four nights. Upon entering the room, we realized that it was an old resort and it barely looked anything like the pictures they had posted on booking.com. I have attached some pictures from the inside as well. It is an old resort which is fine, but, everything else with it is old too. An old aircon, still using a very old analog TV, very old mini-fridge which the " freezer" section was all iced and could not put anything in there already! ( picture attached.) Then, what they called a back-terrace or balcony was actually a 45 degree angle balcony opening to bunch of cables running behind our bungalow( picture attached.) The next day and for the remaining days, we were waken up at 5:00 a.m. by the nearby mosque's invitation to the prayer. Everyday as we exited our bungalow, we saw the resort's manager and other staff members. They never made an eye contact with us nor smiled at us nor greeted us. It felt like we were there for them and not them for us. They have breakfast in the morning in their own canine for an additional money, but we never bought anything from them. For breakfast, they don't serve anything pork based as the entire resort is run by a Muslim team. They do not sell any alcoholic beverages neither! From what it looked like, there used to be a restaurant right by the resort, but they either had closed or gone out of business. So, there are no restaurants on the property. The resort is situated on a slope. Everyday, we witnessed resort's guests mostly children and women struggling to get to their bungalows going uphill. They do not provide any in-house-shuttle to transport the guests going uphill. Their pool is a salt-filtered pool. Once you dipped your head in the pool, your eyes would burn so badly that you had to exit the pool. I am never going to stay at this resort again and will not recommend this resort to my family or friends. We had such an unpleasant time over there that we actually checked out a day ahead of the schedule and went back home. It is worth mentioning that while staying there, we visited so many other resorts that were newer with a whole lot better facilities and they charged even less and in some cases charged only slightly more.
Lanta Manda Resort is pretty good for the value. The bungalows are spacious but the furniture is aging. The place is on the whole very quiet. Good location, 10 mins walk from the beach and 3 mins from a 7/11. The staff at the hotel are smiling and helpful. Possibility to rent a scooter on site. We had no bad surprise during our 4 night stay.
Booked another hotel but was overbooked and ended up at manda landa.Big rooms and nice swimming pool .Quite old furniture but was maintained well only problem was getting my phone charged.Close to 7-11 and only 3 min to beach.room was cleaned everyday wished I extended my holiday. cheap eats at old lady turn right and first small restaurant after fruit stall nice food .
Beautiful bungalows set back from the main thoroughfare with private swimming pool. You feel like you are staying on a private estate. Staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are so large. Restaurant close by but many others within a five minute walk. For a fun evening try the Red Snapper restaurant but remember to book a table.
We stayed here for almost a couple of weeks. I think the bungalows are maybe 20% too expensive when compared to many others in the island. The staff is friendly and the lower pool is nice. All the bungalows are in a hill, some lower, some higher. It's actually quite a high hill so even though our bungalow was one of the lower ones, we used a motorbike all the time to move. Breakfast was ~okay, not too special.
