We arrived around 22:00 on the 11th. We pulled in front of the check-in office, it was closed. As I exited my vehicle, a man walked toward the office, opened the door, went in and just looked at us. Only thing we could not see was a smile nor a greeting on his face. We knew he had to be the receptionist as he was standing behind the counter, but he kept starring at us. We were very tired and as a " genius" member, we were expecting some sort of "welcome" drink or something, yet not only we didn't get that, let a lone a simple smile! I was appalled by all that, I was about to change my mind about staying there. I tried to use " not having enough cash with us" as an excuse and stay for only one night as it was late. But the guy said that we couldn't just stay for one night and that we had to pay for the four nights we reserved. Only smart thing he said was, that we could pay the next day if we did not have the money. At that point, I thought considering Songkran hollidays and all places being full, we may not be able to get any where else. So, we ended up paying for the four nights. Upon entering the room, we realized that it was an old resort and it barely looked anything like the pictures they had posted on booking.com. I have attached some pictures from the inside as well. It is an old resort which is fine, but, everything else with it is old too. An old aircon, still using a very old analog TV, very old mini-fridge which the " freezer" section was all iced and could not put anything in there already! ( picture attached.) Then, what they called a back-terrace or balcony was actually a 45 degree angle balcony opening to bunch of cables running behind our bungalow( picture attached.) The next day and for the remaining days, we were waken up at 5:00 a.m. by the nearby mosque's invitation to the prayer. Everyday as we exited our bungalow, we saw the resort's manager and other staff members. They never made an eye contact with us nor smiled at us nor greeted us. It felt like we were there for them and not them for us. They have breakfast in the morning in their own canine for an additional money, but we never bought anything from them. For breakfast, they don't serve anything pork based as the entire resort is run by a Muslim team. They do not sell any alcoholic beverages neither! From what it looked like, there used to be a restaurant right by the resort, but they either had closed or gone out of business. So, there are no restaurants on the property. The resort is situated on a slope. Everyday, we witnessed resort's guests mostly children and women struggling to get to their bungalows going uphill. They do not provide any in-house-shuttle to transport the guests going uphill. Their pool is a salt-filtered pool. Once you dipped your head in the pool, your eyes would burn so badly that you had to exit the pool. I am never going to stay at this resort again and will not recommend this resort to my family or friends. We had such an unpleasant time over there that we actually checked out a day ahead of the schedule and went back home. It is worth mentioning that while staying there, we visited so many other resorts that were newer with a whole lot better facilities and they charged even less and in some cases charged only slightly more.
Lanta Manda Resort is pretty good for the value. The bungalows are spacious but the furniture is aging. The place is on the whole very quiet. Good location, 10 mins walk from the beach and 3 mins from a 7/11. The staff at the hotel are smiling and helpful. Possibility to rent a scooter on site. We had no bad surprise during our 4 night stay.
Booked another hotel but was overbooked and ended up at manda landa.Big rooms and nice swimming pool .Quite old furniture but was maintained well only problem was getting my phone charged.Close to 7-11 and only 3 min to beach.room was cleaned everyday wished I extended my holiday. cheap eats at old lady turn right and first small restaurant after fruit stall nice food .
Beautiful bungalows set back from the main thoroughfare with private swimming pool. You feel like you are staying on a private estate. Staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are so large. Restaurant close by but many others within a five minute walk. For a fun evening try the Red Snapper restaurant but remember to book a table.
We stayed here for almost a couple of weeks. I think the bungalows are maybe 20% too expensive when compared to many others in the island. The staff is friendly and the lower pool is nice. All the bungalows are in a hill, some lower, some higher. It's actually quite a high hill so even though our bungalow was one of the lower ones, we used a motorbike all the time to move. Breakfast was ~okay, not too special.
We stayed for 8 nights in a two-bed twin room. The staff at Lanta Manda were outstanding and very helpful. The only concern I had (which was quickly resolved) was the mildew smell in our unit. After having the AirCon on for a bit this went away. The property is close to the beach and many great eateries.
We came to this hotel on New Years Eve to escape the noise on the beach for our baby. It was perfect. The bungalows are all detached. The property is lush and quiet. The bed was very comfortable and the AC was strong. The restaurant was closed and the beach was a ten minute walk. But it's close to shops and restaurants. The porch was a nice place to sit all night. They picked me up and dropped me off at my other hotel free of charge. The staff was courteous. I would have been happy here my whole trip with a young baby in need of quiet.
Turned up without a booking on a motorcycle tour of the South . Had found this hotel via the reviews on booking.com and Tripadvisor. Pleasantly surprised to find it a halal hotel and all staff helpful and friendly enough. Rooms clean, large and reasonably appointed. However, Shower runs cold and doesnt heat up. Shower curtain mouldy and the rail fell down a few times . Towels abit musty smelling. Bed is old and a touch lumpy. There are only two plug sockets in the room one of which shares the old TV and kettle. So if you have a few things to charge then you'll find it a bit tedious unless you have an extension plug. Breakfast is ok . Costs 300 baht and only runs between 8am to 10am so if youre leaving early for an excursion or diving them best dont book the rooms with breakfast included . Apart from that was ok. May not stay here again and choose something else if staying in Lanta again .
We stayed at Lanta Manda for 4 nights this month. The Room Came with : tv, fridge, towels, bottled water, shower that was slightly separate from the toilet, a front and back porch. Daily housekeeping. The pool was great, not too many bugs in it. 7/11 was a 2 minute walk away. Downsides: shower was freezing, wifi went out for half a day, not a ton of options for restaurants within walking distance(maybe 10 or 15). Bonus- Nobody was there when we stayed. Had the pool to ourselves everyday. Only 480 baht a day($20).
Now let me start with asking why everyone has put such high ratings? I just don't understand. Firstly we arrived at the hotel at noon, understanding we couldn't check in until 2pm, we went to the reception. Closed, no a single person around and the door locked. Now I'm normally not bothered but but its 35 degrees and we have nowhere to go. Terrible start. We went to a local coffee shop and waited it out there. When we returned after two we were met by a gent who took us to a bungalow, while constantly on his phone. We entered the room to a strange damp smell in the air and what was barely an aircon unit. Only positive thing in the room is that it has a big bed, which is actually two pushed together. Our bathroom ceiling leaked water on you, the shower is outdated. I didn't know there was two pools, only after looking at other pictures did I know (after I left). There was literally no help at all. After check in we walked past reception again, all closed up again. I genuinely feel like we are the only ones here and we feel like we are a pain. The grounds are actually quite attractive, it looks very American with its nice paved road leading up through the bungalows. Dusty, untidy, boring, old tv, empty & unsafe. I know we are here in the off season but take your hotel from TripAdvisor if you don't actually want to be onsite to welcome, help or make the guests feel safe. Which we didn't. Unlucky, possibly. Over-privileged, certainly not. I'm a reasonable judge of cleanliness, value and character and that's why I can't fathom the shining star reviews. And it's not on the beach, and you wouldn't walk to the beach in your swim wear either, you have to pass through part of town. I say stay in one of the other resorts here on Lanta, in this season they still have staff that actually work on them.
