Kumarakkom is an excellent place to visit. Vivanta Taj stay was excellent. Wish we stayed for few more days.

We stayed here for 10 nights with my wife's parents to celebrate their 50th anniversary. The location is beautiful and the staff very professional, friendly, and extremely helpful. The on-site services include just about anything you would need. The food is prepared fresh and delicious. Jayanta Das and Prince Joseph attended to our needs and helped make it a memorable experience.
This property is spread across 15 acres in the shore of the Vembanad lake.There are only 28 rooms across across 15 acres and this provides a very personal ambience.We were upgraded to the Villa which is a traditional Kerala house with an outdoor bath and shower with total privacy.The Villa is quiet and comfortable with traditional Kerala decor. The staff at the hotel are very friendly and are we were pampered.They have activities for kids in case of families traveling with little kids.The Ayurvedic massage at the hotel is highly recommended as well. A great way to experience the Kerala backwaters is to rent a boat(we preferred the fisherman boat) to take you to the Kumarakom village.The staff at the hotel help arrange this at your request,it cost just 300 INR or around 10 USD and its a great way to experience the backwaters.
Thoroughly enjoyable stay. Staff are outstanding. Food at restaurant is very good, even though it is not cheap by Indian standards. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and the ayervedic treatment is outstanding. Highly recommended, but only for 3 days, it's quite sufficient as there are not too many activities to keep you going longer.
