ok most apartments in any Greek resort are basic but what the hell that's the fun of going on holiday, we have been to Kardamena on and off since 1996, we've had brilliant times, all our family have been and enjoyed the resort. Last year June/July we tried Zouboulia apts, basic as mentioned earlier but clean and tidy, owners extremely friendly and helpful, the cleaner was lovely did her job very well, clean sheets and towels changed regular with no problems, lovely pool area, clean and well kept, my wife is disabled and found the lower studio's easy to access, we made the mistake of not having air con but that was our decision, if you don't mind basic accom I would recommend Zouboulia
Nicely situated not far from shops bars and restaurants five minutes walk to the beach, apartments are a good size shower a bit small but ok cleaned every day clean sheets and towels changed regularly has its own swimming pool which is very clean A few minutes walk to shops bars and restaurants overall I give it five stars
Myself ,my husband and his family all visited these apartments in September. The staff were great they were friendly and helpful, as there were six of us in total, the rooms catered to our individual needs. The rooms were under equipped however, for self catering with no actual utensils for cooking but they were cleaned daily. The pool was clean and there was a bar/snack area just at the side which was quite welcoming in the mid afternoon heat. This is a lovely place to stay.
Before we traveled to Kos we as usual read the reviews and I must say that a lot of the bad comments were completely wrong, the room was clean and well maintained, the beds were fine if a little harder than we are used to at home but never the less fit for purpose, the pool was spotless and maintained very well and generally the hotel was in extremely good order and again very clean. The owners were welcoming and friendly, nothing was a problem, all we had to do was ask. We were pleasantly surprised by the food at the pool side bar too, the range was very good with plenty of choice, Dino (the owner) did all the cooking himself and even hand cut the chips which were with out doubt the best we had on the island. This is a 2 star hotel, if you are looking for 5 star then you have booked the wrong one, but as I have said it was clean, comfortable and we will certainly consider going back in the future.
We have stayed here twice before and always were made very welcome, Dino in particular is a pleasure to be with, he runs the pool bar during the day and then the main bar in the evening. Nothing has ever been too much trouble for him. The apartments are the usual Greek type and quite basic but spotlessly clean, the maid was a lovely young lady who always had a smile and a good day to us and really seemed to enjoy her work. I saw from the previous post that the air con didn't work when the doors were open, but that's quite normal otherwise you would be trying to keep Kos cool :-) The pool area is also very well kept and we had breakfast there most mornings which was excellent and prices very reasonable. We had a ground floor apartment and I do agree the bathroom was quite small but once again very clean. We found all the staff most helpful, in fact when we had to leave for the airport and were concerned about a cab as it was midnight, Dino kindly drove us there and would not accept any payment, top man. Would I stay there again ? certainly would and plan to do so again next year. Another big plus is the distance to the beach and restaurants which are literally 2 minutes walk from the apartments, although very close to all amenities it was lovely and quiet day and night.
Sadly the only thing this place has going for it is the location which is fantastic for the shops , bars and beach. All the rooms on the lower floor have shared seating area and have a public walk way running along side it. You only have your front door and a window at front of apartment, so when either are open everyone looks in all the time when they walk past. The lighting isn't fantastic so you need some natural light. No fun having to close the door all the time , the rooms are stuffy we paid for air con but takes a long time to get working and only works when door is closed. When my partner popped out to shop and left me to get ready in the apartment I had to lock the door as I didn't feel safe. Although we where told there are cameras pointing at the doors...... GREAT we said even less privicey. Shouldn't they be pointing at the walk way ???? You can not swing a cat in the bathroom, no clean towels or bedding for 5 days. Any dirty towels we left on the floor because they where obviously dirty the cleaner just hung them up on top my own clean towels I had brought myself (yuck) well as far as cleaning goes it was terrible. The cleaner also seemed to come over and bother you while you was having your cuppa tea in a morning every morning, which we thought was very rude as we where aslways up and out by 9am sometimes earlier. As far as the brothers who ran the place, both never spoke unless you spoke to them. Strange Pair , doesn't seem like there hearts in the game and should quit while there ahead. The beds are awful, the pillows are even worse. Its unfortunate to put such a bad review on but I don't want anyone having the same experience we had. We have stayed in many many 2 star Greek apartments over many years and none of them have been like this one. I think any holiday company selling this place should remove them.
Our fourth time here and can only repeat what we've said before. Very centrally located, within a few minutes walk from shops, restaurants and beach. Room was exactly as we wished, clean and comfortable, more than adequate facilities, couldn't ask for anything more. After all, what do you need in Kardamena? Somewhere nice and comfortable to sleep, shower and facilities to make a small snack and a coffee. Dinos, Billy and mum are excellent hosts, very friendly, helpful and extremely obliging. We thank you all once again for your hospitality and we'll see you again next year.
This holiday was not an expensive holiday but still over 600 pound each. We booked 2 rooms and believing that these were studio apartments we thought they would be spacious, we were very very wrong. The rooms were so small that you literally couldn't pass each other at the end of the bed. There was a very small kitchen area in this space too and a tiny bathroon. The rooms were very very clean and the cleaner was a lovely lady who made us feel very welcome as did the older lady believed to be the owner or owners mother. The two men who ran the pool bar and night time bar were ignorant, Not interested in anyone and made us feel like an inconvenience. I am not rich picky or have high expectations but these apartments are not what is advertised and I don't understand how people can rate them at a 4 and 5 star on trip advisor they are not close. The light fittings were hanging off the ceiling and the shower curtain was held up to the ceiling with fishing wire??? Anyway a lesson learned...never again!!
I stopped at Zouboulia in early September with a friend. We were pleasantly surprised by the location with bars and restaurants only a minute or so' walk away. Kardamena itself is lovely and the food has probably been the best I've experienced on any of the Greek islands I've been to. The apartments themselves are fine, I think you pretty much get the same in Greek apartments and it's just a base so can't complain on the room. They were cleaned daily and the cleaning lady was lovely. The only hang up in the rooms themselves are the doors / walls, they are so thin in this place everything is so loud. The staff were friendly enough and food at the pool bar is nice. However, reception is only open between the hours of about 5pm and 1-2am. Found this a little strange as between these hours you don't have access to your safety deposit box (which btw is nice and cheap at €10 for the week). The pool area is lovely, music on all day, cheap drinks and it's nice and chilled/quiet. Would go back again.
Great place to stay for holiday, central, value for money and family run. Family that run the apartments are very friendly and welcoming. Clean and presented well, good value. Situated next to church it is well positioned to offer either a busy or relaxed atmosphere, certainly worth staying at.
