Fantasia Hotel Apartments2.0 out of 5.0

Our stay at the fantasia pretty much echoes the other poor reviews of these apartments. The building is in a decent location close to the town and restaurants so getting about is easy, the rooms are basic and tidy and although the bathroom was tiny it was reasonably clean and modern with an enclosed shower. The bedrooms are large and have free air conditioning, the beds however are typical of cheap Greek hotels and very hard, if your used to a soft bed be prepared for sleepless nights and waking up stiff from sleeping on what feels like concrete as the beds do not have sprung bed slats, they are just stiff wooden slats. There is no reception, on arrival we called the owners who turned up about 20 minutes later to let us into our room, which we expected after reading the other reviews, the maid service however was terrible. Our rooms were not cleaned every day, in fact the cleaning stopped after a couple of days and we eventually had to call the owners to send someone to get clean towels and empty the bins, no apologies no explanation. The restaurant below the apartments is no longer there, it's all boarded up and there is a nice skip in its place. The double glazing keeps out most of the traffic noise as you are on a 5 way intersection. On leaving you have to vacate your room at 12.30, we had an night flight so needed somewhere to store our luggage for the afternoon, we asked the owners if there was anywhere, they said no but we could pay extra to keep the rooms until 6pm. So take that into consideration. Overall.... you get what you pay for, ideal if you want a cheap place to stay and are prepared to put up with a few issues.
The main advantage of Fantasia Hotel Apts is its cheapness. Besides, the apartment as such was good - spacious, had a kitchenette, etc. Unfortunately, all the angry words written by other reviewers proved to be true. (a) It is a noisy place; (b) There is no reception desk in the hotel, and the hostess is elusive. We came (at 22:15) to the hotel, and, seemingly, there was not a single living soul in it. The hostess came in 10 or 15 minutes after, and the story had a good end. Imagine another situation: we have a ferry to another island in an hour and something, so we want to pick up our luggage that we left in the storage of Fantasia. However the hostess is not taking telephone, neither she is returning calls. It was the cleaning woman (who knew three phrases in English) who came to our rescue, and we could take our things. (c) The "hotel" looks like a dead house: the cafeteria in the ground floor (look at the photo) does not exist any more - the ground floor is boarded up, the entrance is from a backside door, and nobody can guess that this building is a hotel. Our advice to the travelers: prepare to pay three or four euros more per night and book a room in a normal hotel.
We stayed in the studio apartment, room 301 which is located at the very top of the building, so there's a lot of stairs to walk up which can be tiring! The rooms itself was nice, the bathroom and bedroom were cleaned daily but the furniture was quite dated. The kitchen is small but you can cook food here and there's a fridge too. My only issue with the apartment is that there were a lot of ants around and no washing liquid to clean the plates etc provided. Checking in was a bit of a nightmare, we arrived and nobody was at reception, We waited around for a while but no one appeared, we asked the Cafe next door what to do and he said to call them from the number on the board. So we went back in and called them, a woman eventually came down the stairs and showed us to our room. Make sure you take cash with you to pay otherwise it's a nightmare trying to get someone who can use the card machine to take your payment. Wifi works great too, no issues there. Overall it's a nice place, room 301 had access to the whole upstairs balcony which was awesome. Thanks for a great stay!
Booked here for two weeks ....it was a great price ....here is my honest review The apartment was spotless and was fairly modern with one bedroom twin beds ..looking onto the street from a small balcony which was fine.....the small living area had a sofa bed.. Two ring cooker, a fridge and a table ...it also had a balcony so we were lucky and had the sun all day ......it was very basic but served the purpose no dish clothes or any household items you need to buy all that......NOTE THERE IS NO SAFE ..which was not great as we had to carry passports and money around each day.... To be honest this apartment is fine for a week as we brought nothing with us but not for two weeks as we found out ...it's cleaned every day which was fine... The shower was great .. It was quiet and is in a great spot for getting into the town easily a few min walk ...down the road is a small beach area and some food places ..again great location ....it had free fast wifi .. On arrival you need to phone the numbers on the wall and someone will, come with your key ..they arrived within. 5 mins of us getting there ...on our second week we left early as we wanted a few days in a hotel with a pool... However once we moved we then spotted places down the road to the right that had pools ...you could use as long as you bought a drink food... We would have done that had we noticed so it's worth looking.... I would stay here again and Will recommend the flats to my friends ..
This is just a perfect location for Kos town, the price is just amazing! We paid that less that i was expecting the worst. Instead I was surprised beibg let in couple of hours before the official checkin, the flat was clean and modern, spacious and comfortable. My next stay at Kos wont be elsewhere
Stayed in a one bedroom apartment with view of church and garden, room 201. The apartment is very modern and bright, and kept very clean by the daily housekeeper. A six minute walk takes you to the main square and harbour area. Although the apartments are located on a 5 way junction the sound wasn't a problem because of the double glazing. There is a nice bar restaurant underneath the apartments.(Mona Lisa). The shower was very good. The wifi is excellent. The air-con was included in the price but I would have liked it a bit cooler.I would stay here again.
Very smart. Arrived just before midnight on 28th April 2015. Waited 10 min in great bar Mona Lisa next door for key. Wish life was always so easy ! Recently refurbished TV and free air con all for great price
Stayed at the affordable Fantasia for 7 nights on a solo vacation. Close to the Castle (next to the ferries) ,Port (taxi station) and Old Town (bus station),made trips like Bodrum,Kalymnos and Paradise beach,Kardamena,Marmari and Tigaki accesible for me.There is a good local shopping district, lots of bars and restaurants nearby that may come in handy, for those who don't want to go very far.Although the place is very busy ,check-in runs like clockwork except rare occasions but that's to be expected.I was fortunate to arrive early in the afternoon as my apartment was available and I was checked in straight away. The apartments are little gems in the heart of the city, spacious, functional ,quiet and clean as a whistle, with comfortable beds and blackout curtains for a good night sleep in.The TV's have satellite channels apart of the local ones and the air-conditioning and wi-fi is very good. The fully equipped kitchenette did the trick for me saving alot doing breakfast and packing lunches. The bathrooms are new and very clean with lots of hot water and good water pressure. The reception staff is friendly and cannot be more helpful. Would not hesitate to recommend these apartments as a cut above to a high priced hotel room ,would highly recommend staying there.
After arriving by ferry just before sunrise we tried to fill in time before check in time of 2pm but needed to offload our luggage. We got to the property mid morning and tried to communicate with a cleaner who kindly showed us a place to store our bags. We returned later and the cleaner (who spoke no English) tried to phone the owner and somehow we were given a key to the room. We never had any contact with any management at all. Room was clean, comfortable, spacious and had a small kitchen. An easy walk to waterfront and town square made it an ideal location. Found out the internet password and other information from guests who were checking out!
