We arrived at Montien house on the 27th of December, all set for a week of relaxation. The room that we where allocated was like the pictures displayed, but extremely tired and needed painted and other items touched up. We spoke with reception who offered us a free dinner from a set menu. Set menu? Really we paid almost £800 for one week. We where then moved to a honeymoon suite two days later. It was very spacious and definitely more suited to the money we where paying per night. Having checked hotels website and spoke with other guests we where paying a lot more. Staff where very friendly and place was clean. But we where sadly very overcharged.
I was taking on the beach when I walked by the Montien House. They had setup dining tables right on the beach. The surrounding was excellent and I assumed that the seafood would be awesome. I was wrong. The capiroska I ordered had some low quality vodka into - for 250 THB it was pathetic. The steamed fish was served raw. I felt queasy after my first two bites so I asked the waiter to eat it. He immediately took it back to the cook. The new order was much better but not where a 550 THB fish should be. I wouldn’t eat here ever again.
Definitely a 3 star hotel average rooms , no pool towels , reception very basic , location is fabulous but pool small . Anyway it’s not A 9.2 rating more a 6.5 we were so disappointed had high expectations
The hotel served its purpose. It was in a great location, and had very easy access to the beach. However, I rated it 3 stars because: - The rooms didn't look like the pictures. I'm not talking about minor things, I mean the room we thought we booked and actually got was different (it had the same specs, so we didn't complain); - The water had a funny smell, and was slightly discoloured. Someone from our group got a rash on her face after showering, and we had to use bottled water to brush our teeth; - The restaurant looked really nice. However, we felt that the portions were small (and overpriced) when compared to other restaurants in the area. Also, the food was average - so not worth the cost; and - We arranged for breakfast packs as we left the hotel (for tours) before the buffet opened. We expected a reasonable breakfast pack, instead got a small dry sandwich and some fruit. After talking to them about it (as we needed it again for the next day), they did make an effort to improve it (which was still wasn't worth it). Be mindful of this when scheduling early tours. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Will I be back? Uhmmm.. Maybe if I can't find anything a bit better in that excellent location.
The goods: The location of this hotel is amazing. It's not right in the hub and noise of Chaweng beach but it's still close enough to walk everywhere. The restaurant food is incredible - we ate dinner on the beach one night and it was very beautiful The not so goods: The wifi signal in the rooms was really bad. We couldn't even get signal most of the time. It's also really noisy because it is right in the take-off/ landing zone of the airport. The flights stop early at night, but a plane taking off woke me every morning. Expected a bit more for the price we paid.
It was our second last night and my partner and I went for a walk along the beach to choose a restaurant for our dinner on our last night! We wanted somewhere nice! We chose one along the beach, and then kept walking to find somewhere for dinner that night! We saw a restaurant with tables and chairs on the sand and there were a few people so we decided on this one! This one was the restaurant at Montein House! Right from the start we were greeted so warmly! Let me say we have travelled the world, and even our own country and never have we had such attentive, amazing and wonderful service! Management you should be so so proud of your staff! And on top of that the food just blew our mind! Absolutely delicious!! We really loved everything so much that we cancelled our reservation for our last night elsewhere, and our last night was spent back at Montein!!! I want to give a special shout out to two amazing employees of yours! Chao and Chok! These two guys are superstars! They made us feel as tho we were in a 5star restaurant! Best service we have ever had! Also the other waiters and waitresses, even down to the work experience young girls were also fantastic!!! We come to Thailand every year and because of the service and the warmth and kindness of your employees, we will be booking our next holiday in Thailand at Montein House and we can't wait!!!!
This is definitely one of the best restaurants on the beach. Fresh and excellent food, amazing service and very very decent price. We eat here every time we visit Samui and they never diasapoint! We were a group of 17 people and the restaurant was full and still they managed perfectly. Highly recommended
This hotel is in Chaweng and not Boput as per the description on TripAdvisor! If you are looking for a four or five star resort this is not the place for you however it ticked all of our boxes for a family friendly affordable stay right on the beachfront in the centre of chaweng beach yet still quiet enough. The staff were lovely and the restaurant staff exceeded our expectations. The ladies at reception were also lovely and the housekeeping do an excellent job. The rooms very always kept clean and the gardens are beautifully maintained. Our kids loved the umbrellas so much that the lovely reception staff actually gave us one on departure to take home as a momentum. The pool is lovely and clean and the chilled yet cool music selection was a welcome break from the regular thump of Chaweng. The restaurant is pricey but the service and food is worth the money extra $. There is one staff member in particular who I would like to mention, Chao! He was always smiling and so friendly, such a lovely gentleman and brilliant waiter. The breakfast was also very good. I would recommend the bungalows as they are nearer the beach, restaurant & pool. Some are older than others so perhaps request a newer one as our aircon was a little noisy but still did the job. Just a heads up, The resort does charge 600baht per night for an extra bed for a child (includes breakfast) - I thought this was rather expensive!
Here you have a good choice of rooms at very reasonable prices. I have just completed my eleventh visit to Montien House and was welcomed by the staff as enthusiastically as the first visit. All the staff are courteous, efficient and very professional and work as a team.
We booked this hotel for our Honeymoon. The deluxe bungalow was very dirty and moldy on the wall. We could only sleep here 1 night because it was very moldy smell and cockroach in the room. We got our money back, but they paid us a night. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone who likes the cleanliness. Even the breakfast was very poor.
