Exit 3 just after Florida line. Nice location, easy access, plenty of fuel, food, and fortifying drink nearby. Friendly check in staff, clean room. Breakfast is free and ample and there is a friendly, helpful staff member nearby to offer help or just a smile to start your day. Use this as a spot to break up your long drive that is safer than Brunswick and cheaper than Savannah. Or, come here for access to the beautiful Cumberland Island Seashore or even Amelia Island. I'd come again.
O.K. , having stayed at Fairfield Inns before, the small size of the room was unexpected compared to past experiences. To my fellow travelers...if you are going to flick gross things on the wall next to the bed in a...small room...it should be you that cleans it up. This property suffers from I-95 syndrome in that it must fill up every night with every manner of person drifting north and south who end up here because the Days Inn was sold out. Now that my rant is over I can say the hotel staff was first rate as expected at a Marriott property from the check in and out to the very nice lady at breakfast who made sure to ask everyone in the room if they were O.K.. That and the quality of the food is as good as any other Marriott property at any level. Even at 5:00pm there was fresh coffee available. The breakfast area was roomy with the food and drink spread out to avoid that trapped on a cruise ship buffet feeling. Over all it's a nice place to stay.
The Fairfield is located back behind a gas station and Dunkin Donuts. We needed a place to stay while we explored Cumberland island National Park. Better than a tent but not that nice. The free breakfast was okay. My kids like making the waffles and they had the mini waffle maker. The room seemed clean. Beds were typical of Fairfield. Feel like your grandmas spare bedroom (a mattress that says don't stay too long). Would stay again if I come back to Cumberland though. Didn't seem to be a lot of good options.
After a long traveling day a good stop to stay before traveling into Florida. Last chance to get cheap gas before entering Florida. Nice hotel. Clean with friendly staff. Breakfast fair, but free. Lots or restaurants in the area
Upon entering the property we noticed a faint odor like a "locker room"... Nice greeting by desk and welcome as a Marriott Rewards member for many years. The room was a little small but we were only staying for one night. First issue... all electric outlets in use by hotel appliances (Very poor) at the "working desk". No place to charge phone, plug in computer etc. This already gave me a bad taste for things to come. Next, the TV didn't work.. quick visit by engineer fixed problem.. (Housekeeping most likely loosened TV power cord) while cleaning???? (Not). Bed was usual Marriott standard, comfy.... Now the odor ??? It seemed pervasive in the hotel corridor and room... sort of a musty or chemical smell... like new carpet or wallpaper??? We didn't complain because it could not have been easily fixed. The staff were friendly and responsive.... The best part of our stay was the breakfast, excellent selection, well maintained. They lady attending to the area did an absolute great job... !!! Sorry, this must be a franchise as it is not up to Marriott standards... Incidentally, the hotel signage is lacking... tucked back behind other businesses..thank heavens for the very high hotel sign ...keep looking up...
Stayed one night while driving south and another night when returning north. The hotel is clean and comfortable. The staff is great. The price was reasonable, and the hotel is located 2 minutes off of I-95, making it a great place to stay. Includes a free hot breakfast, too. Highly recommended.
Check-in may have been among the best I’ve experienced. The clerk was probably the friendliest hotel clerk you might ever encounter. The best part was that this was genuine. She wasn’t being nice because that’s what she was trained to do. That’s something that feels fake. She was simply a friendly person. Even though check-in is a very brief part of the overall stay, it can make a great impression. That’s what this was. Just a minor note here, the hotel was not the easiest to find. This section of East King Avenue is like gas station city. The hotel was way behind the BP if I remember correctly. So it doesn’t have its own entrance from the road. What I didn’t expect was that a King room could be so small. Everything just fit into the space. The room was adequate and clean, just surprisingly small. A queen bed would have opened up a few extra inches. But for one night, it’s tolerable. We didn’t make use of anything else the hotel provides, so there’s not much more to comment on, except to say this is not the Waldorf Astoria.
My wife and I travel to Kingsland, GA often and always stay at the Fairfield Inn & Suites for 3 - 5 nights. A big plus is that it's conveniently located near I-95 and the Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base. Upon arrival, you're greeted by a very polite and attentive staff. The lobby, business area and a private seating area are very functional, modern, and clean. We've always found the rooms, beds and couches very clean and comfortable. The Breakfast area has plenty of seating so you can relax and enjoy a wide variety of breakfast items. Other great amenities include a fitness area, indoor pool, whirlpool, laundry, safe deposit boxes, and for we caffeine nuts, coffee in the lobby area. A big plus for us is that all public areas are smoke free.
I believe this hotel is newly remodeled in Fairfield's newest design scheme, which is quite modern. The beds were very firm, with several different pillow choices. Everything in the room worked fine, including electrical outlets, refrigerator, and hair dryer. The heating/AC was annoying at times and seemed to do its own thing...it seemed it was always too hot or too cold. While this wasn't the cleanest Marriott property I have stayed at, (nothing too gross, but there was gunk buildup around the sink in the bathroom) the housekeepers were all friendly and gave us extra towels with no problems. The front desk staff was also friendly. Breakfast offered lots of choices (more than most Fairfields), including watermelon, strawberries, pineapple, as well as the usual waffles, cereal, pastries, meat, and scrambled eggs. The breakfast host was very courteous, and always asked if we had what we needed. The fitness room consisted of two treadmills and an elliptical machine. I used a treadmill and it worked fine. There is a small indoor pool, but I did not use it. I did experience some trouble connecting to the free wifi, and one night wasn't able to connect at all....so if you intend to do work while at the hotel, you may need to upgrade to better internet service. Overall, this hotel is a good choice in the area.
I had to go down here for business for two days. There was a misunderstanding in the billing by one of the employees in regards to whom was paying (my company) and they charged me which wasn't a good thing. Other than that the rooms were clean, WiFi is free for surfing and only $5 for speedy to watch videos and such from what I read. The showerhead didn't have the stream that I liked which kind of was a drag since I'd like a larger amount of spray hitting me. I didn't get a chance to try the breakfast since I had to be at work at 3a.m. It appears you can hook a PS4 or Xbox into the the TV's here because the remotes actually have an input button which is awesome although outlets seem limited on the side of the wall with the TV's. Hairdryer, microwave, coffee machine, and refrigerator were all in the room and an ice machine in the hall. Nice, quiet, comfortable, clean and plenty of restaurants nearby. I have no complaints other than billing... Which was resolved to my satisfaction. Thank you ladies for your help and putting up with my ire.
