I stayed at the Gleneagle for a conference. This is very convenient as the conference center is reachable through the hotel. Staff was very friendly, as is usual in Ireland. I highly recommend it. I didn't have an adaptor for the electricity and they even have these available at vending machines for a reasonable price.
We had a surprise party for my mum last weekend and all the staff went out of their way to make sure everything went smoothly. All the pressure of trying to organise rooms, dinners and entertainment was handled very efficiently by the staff especially Caroline. The balloons and cake were fab. We stayed in three apartments, which were very spacious and clean, while mum and dad stayed in the hotel in their favourite room overlooking Mangerton mountain. We can’t compliment the staff enough who looked after us all and always had smiles on their faces and hugs all round. Top marks for the Gleneagle.
I attended a large event here which involved a buffet dinner. I rang the day before and was told there would be a fish and meat option available to me if I made myself known to the chef on the night. Chef John was excellent and walked with me along the buffet pointing out what was suitable and gave me a portion of the beef stroganoff he had made specially which was delicious. Strawberries and meringue were then brought to me for dessert. I was one happy bunny. The event catered for 250+ people which makes my experience even more impressive!
I really enjoyed stay at Gleneagle hotel. The staff are very kind and room is nice. Hotel facicities are nice and food also good. Thank you for everything and I recommend this hotel for any kinds of trips.
Booked into the Gleneagle hotel on Friday 11th Oct for a weekend break to celebrate my birthday with my husband. The room was very shabby and nothing like the rooms that were advertised on the website, tiles were cracked in the bathroom, no air con, windows were filthy, badly in need of a paint job, but we headed into Killarney town for dinner and a few drinks. Saturday morning breakfast was very disappointing,wr again headed into Killarney town for the day, on our return we booked into the Flesk restaurant for dinner at 8. On arrival the table was set, but was dirty with crumbs, we can assume from the previous diner. Placed our order and decided to avail of the set meal for €30 each which included a complimentary glass of wine which we didn't get. Dinner was quite nice until it cane to desert, my husband is diabetic so opted for the fruit salad, which obviously was leftover since breakfast that morning as the fruit was very soft and off colour, mine was also disappointing, it was to include a sponge base so it said but I got a trifle finger biscuit on the side of the plate. My husband asked for the bill , to which the waiter said we could have our deserts desserts complimentary, so it was a grand total of €63 euros, in any maths class in the country €30 x 2 is €60 so explain to me how we got the deserts complimentary, my husband paid the bill. When the tea and coffee came out, the tea was just boiling water in the teapot, we had to ask for a teabag and the cup had a big chip gone out of the side of it, which would have cut him if he drank from it. Into the ballroom for the dancing, we left after half an hour because the place was freezing at the bar in there. Into the main bar in the hotel, where we enjoyed the entertainment with Tony sings,he is a brilliant entertainer and was the best bit about the whole stay at this hotel. Breakfast the following morning led to us queuing outside the restaurant waiting to be called to get a seat, the food was again onky okay and bread for toast and a few other bits were in very short supply. Checkout time finally and when asked by a very stern receptionist, how was our stay, my husband began to tell her about our stay in the gleneagle and she turned to tell us, dismissing the complaints that we had, that we owed €60 from dinner from the previous evening and made it look like we were trying to duck out without paying. Luckily enough the waiter that my husband had settled the bill with was still on duty and when my husband called him, he recognised us and rectified the problem. As this was going on there was another lady checking out longside us who was complaining about her weekend also. Anyone we spoke to had problems this weekend and one even commented that the hotel more resembled Fawlty Towers then the hotel that ye sell on your website. We have stayed in Killarney on many occasions but this was our first and last stay at the Gleneagle, we will not be returning and I certainly will not be reccomending ye to anyone. I don't like leaving any business negative reviews but after having our whole weekend ruined by our experience with your hotel, I feel its only fair to advise other couples before they waste the money at this establishment . No need to reply, as from what Ive seen from your responses to other complaints from previous residents, you just try to fob people off with your replys, rather than try and change what the problem is with your business.
Stayed for two nights bed and breakfast here with my husband who was doing the quest adventure. Check in went well no problems there . Now to start found our room , the room needed a total makeover very uncomfortable bed not much sleep got. The bathroom was very small and dated. Went to breakfast on the first morning I asked if I could get poached egg for breakfast and was told yes order from your table which I did still waiting no sign of it after half hour it seems it was never ordered and no apology either did complain to reception who in turn said did I take it up with the supervisor. Only waiting to see what happens in the morning
I stayed in the Gleneagle during the Cannonball Run & I enjoyed my stay. My room was lovely with a beautiful view & had everything I needed in it. I had an evening meal and breakfast the next morning and the food was spot on. Reception did a great job at check-in & check-out. I couldn’t fault any aspect of my stay.
Drove down from Galway on our trip around Ireland. Had booked this as we were two couples. Apartment had 2 bedrooms, 2 baths and a big kitchen, dinning and living room. Great view outside over a large green area. Very quiet. Apartments are located behind an adjacent hotel and a bit hard to find. We missed the turn twice. River dance was going on when we were there at the convention center, so very busy and parking was a bit of a problem. Great location to explore the National Park and Killarney itself. We had breakfast each morning in the apartment. Very nice and saved money. Dinner was a bit dicey. First night we had dinner at Pub in Brehon hotel adjacent to apartments. The pub was nice, but don’t order the hamburger. It was so tough I couldn’t cut it with a knife. Next night we had at OD’s in the Gleneagle hotel. It was interesting, see my review on the meal. It all worked out, but it was confusing. Recommend apartments Very nice
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Gleneagles Hotel and have nothing but praise for the Hotel and Staff. Excellent breakfasts in the Flesk Restaurant and very enjoyable Dinners in O’Ds Restaurant in the evenings. Walking distance from Killarney was another bonus.
All was lovely but when I was checking in I was accused of booking 3 rooms when in actual fact I only booked 1 room. It was embarrassing infront of other customers and in front of my partner. No matter how much I told them I didnt make the bookings reception refused to believe me no matter what I told them. Receptionist told me he would call me when the matter was resolved which he never did.
