The hotel is very good placed, next to the center of Kiev and the service is excellent. They speak english and are very friendly. The rooms are clean and comfortable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who comes to Kiev for a visit. They have a small bar where you can have breakfast and also have dinner (they have english menu for non-ucrainian speakers) with Ucrainian (and not Ucrainian) dishes.
This hotel is a great value: it's very conveniently located (you can walk anywhere in minutes), the room is small but comfy and has all the necessities, but the real great part was the free breakfast. While we expected the typical spread of eggs/lunchmeats and maybe some fruit/veggies if we were lucky, the hotel truly outdid themselves. The menu included: traditional pancakes (oladushki), zucchini pancakes, eggs sunny side up, mini-blini with meat, mini chicken burgers, fresh and delicious tomatoes and cukes dusted with chopped dill - everything home-cooked and absolutely delicious. The server also offered to make us omelets or oatmeal, which we declined since there was more than enough of delicious food already. Hats off to the traditional Ukrainian hospitality!
Stayed there one night which was ok. Was in room 119 which was close to the 'bar' .. not very good located, very noisy. The walls are also pretty thin, could hear every single movement of my room neighboor. Windows couldnt be opened as well. The shower is pretty tiny, so if you dont have a perfect BMI you might struggle. Hotel not possible to be reached by the taxi driver, had to walk and literally search for it. The stuff is typically Ukraine, rather cold and I perceived it as unfriendly. Besides all that, location is excellent, room was clean, check-in/out process went quick. Would stay here again I guess, but def not for business.
The hotel has a good standard, the staff is friendly with good english skills. Breakfast is pretty simple, but okay standard. Location os pretty central, close to both the centre of Kyiv, sights and parks.
This hotel is a 3 min walk max to the Canadian consulate. Also 5 minutes to St. Michael monetary. Very compact but rich decor and friendly staff. Good value for food and laundry service. Going down town is steep so plan your uphill climb or drive. Also very close to a variety of banks.
You are a stone's throw away from all the main touristic hotspots. Room was clean and just the right size. You felt safe although my passport had to be left in the reception safe as there wasn't one on the room. Breakfast was nothing special and the sound of guests' room keys woke me up a few times. All that you need really. Apparently Mike Tyson stayed here.
Very good find in a location 5-10 mins walk to independence square. Bargain price. Helpful staff spoke English for us and helped us navigate our way around for our first visit to Keiv. Breakfast not great but good enough and again very good value.
I was really satisfied with my stay at Gintama. If you want a central location (walk to Maidan, nearby restaurants, etc) then you cannot beat this location/price combo. I will admit I was a little nervous when I saw the fact that it is seemingly in the basement of a building, saw the old/tacky decor, and was handed a 5 pound weight as my keyring, but once in my room I was extremely satisfied with the accommodations. Definitely outdated but that makes it cozy in a way. It was clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. I loved the pillows. Shower stall is like a little tube so if you are big, sorry about that. Plenty of channels to watch on tv and plenty of storage for my luggage. The hotel was quiet and I got a great night's sleep. I would definitely recommend this place!
The awning over the lobby entrance shows a 'G'. In addition to standing for 'Gintama', in my eyes it stands for 'Gem'. Seriously, if you're looking for a hotel in this category (small hotel, affordably priced, convenient to Kreschatyk and Maidan), then the search is over. Cozy, immaculate, and graciously run, Gintama is nestled into the hillside above -- and at a few minutes walk from -- Freedom Square and Maidan. Within equally short walking distance is the Intercontinental Hotel (along with its restaurant, lobby boutiques, rooftop bar), which itself -- at multiples the price -- boasts a best-location reputation among diplomats. If you're looking for a five-star, white-glove experience, then I imagine you'd want to look at the 11 Mirrors Design Hotel, the Intercontinental, others. If you're looking for quiet, comfy, and affordably priced, your search is over with Gintama. In addition to services that for me are need-to-have (efficient housekeeping and laundry, reliable wi-fi), Gintama has some really-nice-to-have attributes that come with personnel which, for the most part, has not changed in the past ten years. Grace. Kindness. Love.
I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel, the management sorted out a very good deal on the suite for us and it couldn't get any better, My suite was immaculate, soft bedclothes and a large bathroom with an excellent Jacuzzi, clean spotless room with 2 TVs , 2 air fans, one of each in bedroom and the lounge:) plenty of space excellent selection of tea and coffee from the bar at a very reasonable price. the food and drinks were also great, tasty and to a high quality at a very reasonable price again. we had room service most of the time which was amazing as the hot food was always served in our suite at the time that we wanted, Breakfast was pretty reasonable. Also enjoyed the private sauna and pool, it costs 200 Ukrainian money (around £15) per hour and it was great to have the whole facility for ourselves for as long as we wanted, we also had tea and fresh juice delivered to us in private sauna which was amazing:) They also leave the key behind the wet facilities door so if you wish you could lock it so that you have the whole place for yourselves:) I feel a special mention must be made to the excellent staff who work in this hotel, they are all most welcoming, attentive and know what they are doing. Special thanks to all the girls who work at reception as they all speak a very good English and are very helpful. I really appreciated my stay at this hotel and will definitely return. Best regards Vic
