Despite visiting Kiev in the winter, which has a tendency to be extremely cold, I enjoyed my time at this property immensely. Hotel Vozdvyzhesky is one of those places that will not always deliver a big space for you to stay at, but makes up for that with nice service (with hot beverages delivered to your room shortly before the evening starts), helpful staff, diverse and tasty breakfast options and its primary location. Would recommend to anyone whether they travel privately or for work.
I visited again to celebrate the New Year and the hotel remains a great hotel, beautiful and extremely clean rooms. the breakfast is so good... everything was better than i remembered, and the New Years atmosphere was amazing
Stayed there for 4 nights and will most definitely come again! The location is in the gorgeous andreevski descent, where you can find a lot of vendors selling local art work and souvenirs, restaurants and bars, art galleries, bulgakovs museum, and of course the beautiful church on top of the descent, with a breath taking view of the city! The hotel it self is a true jem with beautiful decor, lovely and clean rooms, terrace and sitting areas, the breakfast is delicious, and i can't say enough about the wonderful and welcoming service I received from each and every hotel employee I have encountered. Every one were so kind and accommodating, I didn't want to leave :) I loved the small details that made the stay extra special, like the 6pm tee at the lobby, with nice cake, and the fresh water with lemon and liquor always waiting at the reseption! Thank you so much for the wonderful experience! Can't wait to come again!
I cannot recommend this hotel enough! The food in the restaurant is amazing, they have a great Scotch selection, the room was extremely clean and comfortable and the bathroom was awesome. Also the location is wonderful. Near the hotel there are vendors selling souvenirs and several restaurants. Just a short walk away is a museum and a beautiful Russian Orthodox church. Even with all the great things I have already said, the most praise I have for this hotel is the customer service. Olga, the head of Guest Services, was friendly, helpful and truly went above and beyond to assist my husband and I in arranging a very unique experience in Southern Ukraine. Our excursion and our entire experience in Kiev, not to mention the whole of the Ukraine would not have been the same without her. As I mentioned she is helpful but also clever and smart and knowledgeable. She will help you plan your time in Kiev with tremendous ease and if you happen to need help anywhere else in the country she has the skills and ability to be creative even when tasked with an unusual travel request. My Husband and I were trying to arrange a tour near Ivano-Frankivsk and were having a very hard time finding a tour agency that could assist us. Olga was able to find someone and do it in under 24 hours. And if you like Georgian food or any other kind of food that is offered in Kiev, she can find that for you too! We think that Hotel Vozdvyzhensky made a great choice in hiring Olga and they will appreciate what she can accomplish working for them. Also, I don't want to leave out the rest of the staff at reception, in the restaurant and in housekeeping. Everyone was awesome! I would definitely stay here again.
Spent 4 nights in this very nice boutique hotel in Kiev. It's a bit of a walk to some of the main sights of Kiev but the area surrounding the hotel is nice, quiet and full of street side art vendors in the daytime. We arranged for a guide who met us at the hotel and we would encourage other first-time Kiev visitors to do the same. Explanations of the history of buildings surrounding the hotel were very helpful. Good place to stay.
I spent 3 nights at the hotel for a business trip. The staff is very polite and helpful. A bit hidden, but the location is great to walk around with a lot of bars and restaurants. The standard single rooms are quite small, but very clean and comfortable. The price is fair. The breakfast menu is very good. Everything tasty. The room service is quick. Free wifi with a good speed. I can strongly recommend the hotel.
A beautiful, convenient location to Old Town, quiet, great breakfast, lovely afternoon teas, terrific, knowledgeable reception staff. Lovely views! In addition, there was a wedding one evening with "lively music." When I asked reception how long it would continue, they offered me a choice of two other rooms so I wouldn't be disturbed by the enthusiastic merriment. One room was a beautiful suite. How accommodating and kind of the staff to please a client! Will definitely stay again on my next trip to Kiev!
Stayed here for a week. Would definitely stay here again. Reasonably good location, though a closer metro station would've been nice. The hotel itself was very nice. Room itself - no complaints at all. Fast in room wifi for free. Restaurant/24hr room service offered great meals for very reasonable prices. Staff were fantastic - servers, reception desk all helpful. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone or to stay here again in the future.
This was my second visit to Kiev and the Vozdvyzhensky (July 8-21), after spending 6 nights there in September 2015. I had been planning a second trip to the city, basically since returning from the first; and I chose my exact dates in part to correspond to the Vozdvyzhensky's availability. I cannot imagine staying anywhere else. The staff, location, room, and food.....all contribute to making it one of the best places I have ever stayed. The Restaurant has a breakfast buffet, but do not miss having dinner there, where I had simply wonderful food. (Appetizers, main course, dessert.) The magnificent terraces in the back , off the restaurant area, are available at least for breakfast (maybe dinner.....I did not check), and for just sitting. Perfect place for morning planning and e-mailing. The location itself, part way down Andrew's Descent from the Church, is one of my favorite and most stunning spots in Europe: especially at night when there are often solo musicians along the Descent (always respecting each other's space.) Twilight there is magical. The Hotel's location, makes it a perfect spot for going up to some of the City's major points of interest (Sts. Sophia, Michael, Andrew, Maidan, the Opera House, national and art museums), or for a walk down to Podol, the old merchant (and residential) area beside the River, which I could explore endlessly.
This is a relatively small, fully renovated hotel. Its not similar to the standard "American style" hotels. Every room is slightly different as furniture is a collection of beautiful old desks, chairs, wardrobes. There a clear touch of the owner. Its very clean, every request is answered. Breakfast is great. You may dine inside or on the terrace. Afternoon tea and cake is a must also (free). It's located to the side of Andreievsky st. A very charming region between Podil and the upper district. Highly recommended. Note that taxi may have issue to reach the place, the back street may be jammed sometimes. But you can alway walk up or down the street to catch one. Public transport is in Kontractova square in Podil or up-street near the church. Older visitors should note that Andreievsky street is a pebble road, its not easy if rainy or frozen.
