Stayed here with one of my best mates. We were visiting Ukraine (Kiev) for 3 reasons. Firstly for a trip away some where from the norm. Secondly for my 50th birthday, and lastly to see an old Ukrainian mate of mine. Who I haven't seen for 5 years. The hotel is roughly a 30 min car ride from the airport.(About $25 Max) Easy to find and quite an imposing view when your on the other side of the river when approaching the bridge to get to it. There is a car park just up the steps from the hotel, where any taxi will pick and drop you off.(ADVICE..always get reception to order you a taxi, for two reasons. Firstly they get you a better fixed rate to your destination. Secondly they are quicker getting to you) A small reception area with a tiny bar and eatery. Super efficient staff. All lovely, all smiles and good command of English, for those who need it.Thankfully we both booked river views. Oh what a delight. Amazing views(see my pictures) especially at night when all the lights are twinkling. Nice room overall. Compact bathroom, but very clean and does the job.(good shower and hair drier in there for you too) Nice big comfy bed, great balcony. I wouldn't recommend the breakfast unless you like the cold tasteless boring German style.( NOTE TO MANAGEMENT Need to have a buffet for hot food like sausages bacon eggs etc etc) Apart from that I have only one more downside. That being there is literally no where to go in the hotel if you decided to stay in one night. The main room where the breakfast is laid on also doubles up as a function room at night. (Private function may I add with no residents access. Be warned about the noise from this side of the hotel as well. There was a party, mainly wedding ones with a massive noise coming from bands etc until at least 12.00AM .every night we stayed there). There is no where else to go apart from the tiny bar/cafe area near the main door with seating only for 10 people max. Yes the walls are thin. Many other reviewers have said so. My advice...make some noise back and have some fun, rather than listening to it. Being a very well travelled reviewer with over 15000 readers to my credit. I must say for the money, location, fantastic staff and quirkiness you will not find better. That's for certain.I still cannot believe they can be so efficient from the room cleaners to the most delightful reception staff. So much so that we are travelling back the first week of September while its still warm so we can visit the city islands and beaches right on the hotels door step. Which we couldn't last time due to the season and weather. My last word to all....I don't really want to say this as I would like to keep this fabulous hotel a little secret, so it doesn't get too busy and well known. But it's 5 star all the way. Highly highly recommended. Enjoy your stay fellow readers.
easy to find, cheap, clean and helpfull personal... everyone must stay river wiev room.at night city lights and river realy beautifull. if bathroom and toilet not important, there is no problem to stay bakkara otel. there is one excuse in otel small bathromm and wc..
I spent two nights in two different rooms at that hotel and wish to share my impressions and experience with travel community. Hope, they will be helpful. Thanks. First of all, Bakkara Art Hotel provides the breathtaking view to the right bank of the Dnieper river and Kiev. It's very hard to discribe it with words. Just come and see. Even if you take a room with park view, you will be able to enjoy that gourgeous scenery from the restaurant terrace having a breakfast or a dinner. It's worth it. I stayed at Classic room with a park view the first night. My impressions: stylish, clean with nice smell, cosy, light, enough spacious, airy. As for facilities there are a minibar (about $0,8 for 0,5 mineral water but they provide you 2 free bottles at once), a safe, TV (Travel Channel + others), a set for taking a shower including some snow-white towels. A tiny bathroom is enough comfortable. There isn't a shower cabin but it didn't seem to me a great problem. #1 tip: leave a bathroom door opened after taking a shower for better ventilation. #2 tip: pay attention to a box with earplugs on a bedside table. Feel free to use them if you sleep sensitively. This hotel is a ship, so, its walls are not so thick as stone ones but staff do all possible to balance it with excellent service. #3 tip: if you need another pillow (softer/harder) don't hesitate to call reception. They will propose you other. To expand my experience I booked DeLuxe room with a river view for the second night. That acommodation has a river view and is double spacious. There are a shower cabin, a bidet and scales. But I'm sure you will spend the most part of time enjoying panaroma outside. There is a balcony with a table and 2 chairs for watching birds, boats, yachts and endless sky above the river. Definitely, this nice experience is worth to be repeated.
Hotel (or actually a river boat) situated in the Dnepr river close to the Venice island which is a great place for summer activities with long beaches, bars, restaurants etc. The hotel itself is nice and the staff are extremely helpful with all kind of services. Most of them speaks also a perfect English, so no problem to make yourself understood even without knowledge in Russian or Ukranian language. I would clearly recommend you to book a deluxe room (at least) and if possible with view towards the river. The deluxe rooms are large, the cleaning is great, rooms service (we did use once) fast and efficient, and the only minor issue was some noice from the neighbors and the corridor, but really nothing that was disturbing. It seems that some guests felt a little uncomfortable with the walk from metro station Hydropark to the hotel. I would say just avoid the forest walk in the night and take the main road, it should not be any issues. The hotel restaurant is fine, good service, value for money, and a lot of food. The only issue is that the breakfast was overpriced compared to what you got. 360 Hryvnas is a little too much for a good, but not fantastic breakfast buffé. Even if the hotel is some kilometres outside the city centre, you reach the centre within ten minutes by metro, which costs almost nothing. Even a taxi into town is cheap, and use the friendly staff to book it for you. By than you'll know how much it will cost and you don't have to negotiate with a taxi driver, that most likely not understand English that well. When we return to the great city of Kyiv, we will definitely choose this hotel again. I can hardly see more value for money somewhere else.
Yet another delightful stay at the Bakkara! The food had improved a lot, which was a great surprise. The room was clean and tidy, my laundry was immaculate and the pickup and drop off at the airport all went with out a hitch. So a great thanks to hotel concierge, the staff that cleaned my room and who did my laundry. To reception who fixed all my other problem a million thanks.
The hotel is actually a boat , very interesting idea ! The rooms are quiet large with balcony witch allows you to smoke if you're a smoker and the furniture may need an improvement . Breakfast was fine, not very varied but the food was tasty . I must say , they have an exceptional tea , you must try it if you go there . The staff was very polite,English speaking and very helpful.
I was attending the baby show Kiev and stayed in this hotel in walking distance of the fair (2.5km) The welcome is friendly, service ok and the rooms are ok too. Nice is to have the view on the river. The bathroom is very small and the walls in the rooms are very small because I could listen to what happened in the room next door.
Very nice and cozy hotel in the Dnipro, with beautiful view to the river and to the park. The staff were very helpful and friendly! There is also a close metro station to the hotel around 10 minutes walking. What was not good about it; it has really bad sound insulation, and the toilets are small.
The hotel is designed as a ship floating hotel on Dnipro River. The rooms are nice, ours was a river view room, but only the showers are pretty small and walls are thin. I would like to point out that as a big hotel chain employee, I was very happy with the service of Bakkara Hotel team members. When we stayed there, it was the birthday of my friend and reservation team of Bakkara helped us prepare a surprise and also giving a champagne as hotel compliment. Especially, Natalya, Vika, Petr and rest of the reservation team ( forgive me for forgetting names).... I was very happy with our stay at Bakkara. As a big hotel chain employee, I can recommend Bakkara Hotel.
Good, quiet, clean hotel. Nice view. Piece of silence in big city, not far from centre. Friendly staff. Breakfast - nothing special but good enough. As usual I come by car, but as far as I know there subway near by and other means of communal transport. So you can reach all districts. Reasonable price. I'll come back again. Strongly recommended.
