Reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is cost for value: it’s expensive. This resort was wonderful but I think it should cost a little less for what they offer. highlights are that the pool is heated to 86 degrees and there’s a hot tub too. Wonderful food/bar service at the pool. Beware very little sun on the pool in the winter bc it is low and the buildings and trees block. free coffee, juice in lobby but walk outside to get there. also have free sparkling waters and water bottles all over the resort. staff is so friendly, eager to help. location is great for doing touristy activities, walking, museums, sunsets, restaurants, any boat related outings like Fury or Ferry to Dry Tortugas as we did, (both a few blocks to walk.) downsides: Hopefully anyone who books here knows it’s at the marina and not near a beach. Note that cruise ships dock here so many people will have an obstructed view of the ocean from their room. Save money and get the cheaper pool view like we did! There is nothing easy or simple to eat for breakfast or snack on site, no real convenience store and the area is very tourist oriented so no convenience or grocery nearby except a cvs a few blocks away. There is a store on site but it’s mostly swim, beachwear, souvenirs, a couple drinks and snacks but nothing I would want to grab for a quick breakfast, and there is no breakfast provided. We didn’t want to take our kids out for a large brunch every day and they had nothing easy on site. Otherwise it was wonderful!
Not much
We had an enjoyable stay at the Opal. There was a cruise ship in front of the property for one day, but that is expected when in Key West, and it left promptly by 5:30pm. The rooms were very nice and the location very close to everything you might want to see and do in Key West.
The hotel was lovely and the staff was very helpful! We liked our room a lot and the hotel is walking distance to everything we wanted to explore/do around key west. We would definitely stay there again. The only things to be mindful of: At times, this hotels pricing can sky rocket and that is very off putting, especially since cruise lines do park in front of this hotel. This can cause a view obstruction of the ocean and sunset key on certain days for the entire day. This was somewhat disappointing to find out when walked outside one day during our trip and planned to dine at their restaurant which is oceanfront for lunch. Other than that, it’s our favorite hotel on the island so far.
Excellent location, great service
Beautiful property and friendly staff!
Excellent!
Excellent location. Close to everything. All the activities are close by. Would definitely stay again.
Must go
Unfortunately we slept in 3 room in a 3 night stay. Day 1 shower wouldn't drain but they couldn't move us until next day. Then the nex night we came home @ 11pm on night 3 to a room with no AC. Staff was very helpful in making quick changes but for the money paid very frustrating to have move the whole family twice.
Room was in poor repair
Great property! Great location and rooms were spacious!
